Some cycles can't be broken

Synopsis

Ana wakes up every day with a burden on her heart. She has a secret, a

pain too difficult for some to understand. Shame and guilt; they’re

difficult emotions to live with. We all need something to release the

pain. Some people choose cigarettes, drugs, or alcohol. For others,

food is the answer. Ana works hard everyday to get rid of this horribleaddiction, but sometimes hard work is not enough.

Notes from the author

Writing on this subject was both challenging and effortless. It waschallenging because I had to confront old emotions. At the same time I

found the experience to be effortless because food addiction is something I

understand on a very personal level.

Women are judged by their appearances and feel that in order to beaccepted by others they must be beautiful. We want to please. We want to

be liked. We feel the need to look perfect for people. All we want in return

is their love.

Food will always be a part of our lives. The relationship millions of womenhave with food becomes complicated when there are deeper wounds that

need to be healed. To truly honor our souls we must delve deeper into this

matter. Emotional eating is only the tip of the iceberg. This is so muchmore than that.

We have to grant freedom to our true selves that we have wrongly

imprisoned.

I'm so proud of the people that

helped me on this project. I am

fortunate that aside from being

extremely talented artists, they are

also my friends. They helped megain confidence in myself to express

my own voice using art as a tool.

Production notes

A four person crew was all that was needed to adequately film

this short. It was shot using only a Canon 550D camera, a dolly, and sparse lighting. A healthy dose of ingenuity and

determination allowed our intimate crew to achieve success in

filming this very emotional short film

I met lead actor Rachel Stander at

Judith Weston's “Actor-Director”

Workshop in Los Angeles. Ithought she was immensely

talented. When I wrote "Binge" I

could not get her face out of my

mind; she was perfect for the roll

I believe that her ability to express emotions without words is

admirable.
