February - After visiting several schools, P&G, and NKU, we met at NKU where we completed a power dot exercise to bring focus to our experiences.

April -Judd Weis presented the findings from the dot exercise. The team discussed how to group the data and identify the “big ideas”.

May - Dr. Lang proposed a Vision, Mission and list of Habits.

Smaller groups reviewed the habits and then proposed revisions. A subcommittee wrote the habits as positive statements about our

Wyoming School community.

JUNE - Dr. Lang presented the revised habits to the entire team. The reaction was positive and everyone had the opportunity to propose revisions that they felt improved the work.

Align to Vision (Habits)

•Acceptance of Wyoming’s 21st Century Habits by the school district/Board of Education.

•Dissemination of Wyoming’s 21st Century Habits to staff and parents.

•Development of a rubric that shows what each habit looks like in action and how individual student achievement can be measured.

•Creation of specific district wide goals for the implementation of Wyoming’s 21st Century Habits.

• Determination of what resources are needed to enable the Habits to be implemented. (That includes the physical design of the schools, technological software and hardware, teaching materials, course offerings, mentor relationships, etc.)

• Elaboration of a plan to provide training to staff regarding the implementation of Wyoming’s 21st Century Habits.

• Qualification that the design committee reviews the building design plans through the filter of Wyoming’s 21st Century Habits.

Enable 21ST Century Learning with a STEAM Focus

•Define STEAM for Wyoming City Schools.

•Take action to seek out and join collaborative STEM and STEAM initiatives.

•Have STEAM definition and objectives influence school design (i.e., a design that allows for mentoring, tutoring, prototyping and small group work in addition to classroom interactions)
