ABOUT TNEA

• After abolition of Tamil Nadu Professional Colleges

Entrance Examination in 2007, the admission to

Engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu is conducted through

Single Window Admissions by Anna University, Chennai.

First Graduate Tuition Fee Exemption

• Tamil Nadu native candidates who are to be first graduate in a

family, and joined in professional courses by attending counseling

in Government or Govt. Aided or Self-Financing Engineering

Colleges are eligible for First Graduate Fee Exemption. If the

applicant’s brother or sister has already availed First Graduate

Tuition Fee concession for studying Professional Courses, then the

applicant is not eligible for such concession

SPECIAL RESERVATION

• Special reservations are also available for Physically Differently

Abled Persons, Sports person, and the Children of Ex-Servicemen,

Freedom fighters

Since the special reservation applicants are instructed to enclose

separate special reservation form along with the main application.

RESERVATION OF QUOTA

• TNEA fills the Govt. quota seats of all Engineering colleges. In

Govt. Engineering colleges 100%, In Govt. Aided Engineering

colleges 90%, In Self financing/ Private Engineering colleges 65%,

In private Minority colleges 50% seats are filled by TNEA

SPORTS QUOTA

• The Govt. of TamilNadu increased the Sports quota seats in TamilNadu

Engineering Admissions. Previously 12 seats in Anna University , 88

seats in Govt., Govt. Aided and Private colleges, Totally 100 seats were

available under sports quota. Now the total number of seats in sports

quota increased to 500. 12 seats will be in Anna University and the

remaining 488 seats will be in Anna University of Technologies, Govt.,

Govt. Aided and Private engineering colleges.

SPORTS QUOTA (cont..)

• To apply for Sports quota, Students should attach the special

reservation form for Sports with TNEA application form and a

Demand draft for Rs. 100/- and copies of the relevant certificates

in person to the Secretary TNEA, Chennai. Also refer Annexure II

in the TNEA instruction given with application from for getting the

special reservation form.

ABOUT TNMD

• Tamil Nadu Government authorized Directorate Medical Education (DME) to take

care of the MBBS, BDS, Para-medical admissions in all the Tamil Nadu Government,

Govt. Aided medical colleges and 50% of the seats of Self-financing (Private)

Medical Colleges under Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University.

• In the total Medical Council of India (MCI) approved MBBS, BDS seats in

Government Medical and Dental Colleges, 85% will be allotted in Tamil Nadu

through Tamil Nadu Medical Admission (TNMA) through Directorate Medical

Education DME at Kilpauk, Chennai and the rest 15% seats will be allotted through

All India Pre-Medical, Pre-Dental Test(AIPMT). If in case, any student not joining

through the AIPMT, then the seats All India Quota will be surrendered to Tamil

Nadu Medical Admissions.

SPECIAL RESERVATION

• Seats earmarked for the special categories will be allotted

following the Horizontal Reservation. The Seats will be allotted as

per merit order in the concerned special category and those seats

will be deducted in the concerned compartment (OC/ BC/BCM/

MBC/DC/ SC/ SCA/ST) and the remaining seats will be allotted to

the General Category. If no eligible candidates are available for

the seats earmarked under special category, those seats will be

added to general pool and allotted on merit basis.

Other Communities OC

• A minimum of 60% marks in Biology or Botany and Zoology taken together.

• A minimum of 60% marks in each of the subjects of Physics and Chemistry.

• Aggregate percentage of marks in (a) and (b) should not be less than 140 out of 200 marks.

Backward Class BCs and Backward Class Muslim BCMs

• A minimum of 60% marks in Biology or Botany and Zoology taken together.

• A minimum of 60% marks in each of the subjects of Physics and Chemistry.

• Aggregate percentage of marks in (a) and (b) should not be less than 130 out of 200 marks.

ELIGIBILITY FOR MBBS

Most Backward Classes MBCs and Denotified Communities

• A minimum of 55% marks in Biology or Botany and Zoology taken together.

• A minimum of 55% marks in each of the subjects of Physics and Chemistry.

• Aggregate percentage of marks in (a) and ( b) should not be less than 120 out of 200 marks .

Scheduled Castes SCs, Scheduled Caste – Arunthathiyar SCAs, Scheduled Tribes ST

• A minimum of 40% marks in Biology or Botany and Zoology taken together.

• A minimum of 40% marks in each of the subjects of Physics and Chemistry.

• Aggregate percentage of marks in (a) and (b) should not be less than 80 out of 200 marks.

Physically Challenged Category

• The candidates under Physically challenged Category of Locomotory disability of Lower Limbs alone,

regardless of OC, BC, BCM, MBC or DC should have obtained a minimum of 45% marks in each prescribed

subject in the qualifying examination.

ELIGIBILITY FOR BDS

The candidates ( OC / BC / BCM/ MBC/ DC ) should have obtained not less than

50% of the aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology / Botany and

Zoology taken together at the qualifying examination.

SC, SC Arunthathiyar, ST

• Scheduled Caste, Scheduled caste – Arunthathiyar and Scheduled Tribe, the

aggregate marks required for admission shall be 40%.

Physically challenged category

• The candidates under physically challenged category (OC / BC / BCM / MBC /

DC) should have obtained not less than 45% of the aggregate marks in the

above prescribed subjects at the qualifying examination.

ABOUT TNA

• Taminadu we dont have entrance examination for Engineering and

Medical colleges, for Architecture college admission (B.Arch.) the

students need to appear for National Aptitude Test for Architecture

(NATA).

• Separate Application Form will be issued from Anna University available

on 02 June 2014, the students whoever appeared for NATA only will be

considered for admission. The total marks of +2 will be considered for

ranking (not your MPC marks) and convert to 200 marks in addition to

200 marks of NATA

(a) HSC (Academic)/Equivalent: The candidates who have passed 10+2 or its

equivalent examination with Mathematics as one of the subjects.

• OC candidates should have secured not less than 50% marks in aggregate.

• BC/ BCM / MBC & DNC / SC/ SCA / ST candidates should have secured not less than

45% marks in aggregate.

(b) Diploma: The candidate who have passed 10+3 Diploma (any stream) recognized

by Central / State Governments.

(c) International Baccalaureate Diploma: The candidates who have passed

International Baccalaureate Diploma after 10 years of schooling, with Mathematics as

compulsory subject.

ABOUT TNAU

• Tamilnadu Agricultural University is a leading agrotechnology provider of India

and its graduates are recognized throughout the world. Though the Tamil Nadu

Agricultural University (TNAU) came into being on June 1, 1971, it had its

genesis from establishment of an Agricultural School at Saidapet, Chennai,

Tamil Nadu, India as early as 1868 which was later relocated at Coimbatore

during 1906.

Courses offered in TNAU

• The University is offering 12 Undergraduate Degree Programs and 29

Postgraduate Degree Programs in 10 Colleges distributed in seven campuses all

over Tamil Nadu. Besides, the University has 36 Research Stations for

agrotechnology development and 14 Farm Science Centers for outreach.

Eminent Sports Person

• Four seats in B. Sc. (Ag.) and one seat in B. Sc. (Hort.) are reserved under sports quota for eminent

sports persons.

• Certificates obtained at National / State / District / Division level alone will be considered on the

order of merit and hence copies of all relevant certificates should be attached. Candidate should

also enclose a list of certificates attached signed by candidate and parent.

• Candidates have to attach special application for this purpose and enclose DD for Rs.100/.

NATA – NATIONAL APTITUDE TEST IN ARCHITECTURE

ABOUT NATA

• National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) an online examination for admission to

1st Year of 5-year B.Arch. degree course at all COA approved architectural institutions in

the country (including Government Institutions, Government Aided institutions,

Universities, and deemed universities and private universities established by a central

or state legislature and other private institutions) since academic session 2006-2007.

• It is mandatory for every student seeking admission to 5 years B.Arch. Degree course in

any Council of Architecture approved architectural institution in country to obtain valid

NATA score in addition to any other selection procedure whether based on common

entrance examination or marks obtained in the qualifying examination. The evaluation

through NATA is a mandatory for students for registration as an Architect on successful

completion of 5 year B.Arch Degree course.

ABOUT IIS

• The Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore is a highly reputed University of Research

was established in 1909 by Jamsetji Nusserwanji Tata under first Public Private

Partnership (PPP) institution in India. The institute campus 400 acres of prime land

in Bangalore was donated by the Maharaja of Mysore in March 2007. Many of

India’s most distinguished scientists have been associated with the institute as

students or faculty. The alumnus list of IISc includes Nobel Laureate Sir. C. V.

Raman, Vikram Sarabhai, Homi Bhabha, Sathish Dhawan and many reputed

scientists and scholars. Recently, Infosys Executive Vice Chairman Mr. Krish

Gopalakrishnan made biggest philanthropic contributions amount of Rs.225 Crores

to develop a Centre for Brain Research at IISc Bangalore. It is one of the single

largest donations to IISc has received from an individual.

IISC ELIGIBILITY 2014

• Students who have completed 12th Standard or II PUC or equivalent in

2013 & those who are expecting to complete it in 2014 are eligible to

apply.

• Students must have studied Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics as main

subjects during their 12th Standard or PUC.

• Students who have studied Biology, Statistics, Electronics, Computer

Science, etc., should also have taken Physics, Chemistry, and

Mathematics.

• Students should have a first class or 60% or an equivalent grade

(relaxed to pass class for SC/ ST candidates).

RESERVATION

Number of Seats in Indian Institute of Science (IISc)

• The Institute will admit about 110 to 120 students.

• Seats will be allotted to general and special categories as per Government

regulations.

Physically Handicapped Students

• 3% seats are reserved for physically handicapped candidates, as specified by the

Government of India. Candidates who have at least 40% permanent physical

impairment in relation to a body part/system/extremity/extremities/whole body,

etc., will be given the benefit. The candidates in this category are required to be

certified by a Medical Board at IISc. The Medical Board will decide the following,

• Whether the candidate qualifies for the benefits under this category.

• If the disability is likely to interfere with his/her studies.

• DASA Scheme provides admissions for Non-Resident Indians

Technical Institutions in India.

ABOUT TNALU

• The Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University was established by the

Government of Tamil Nadu by an Act of State Legislature. It was

inaugurated by His Excellency Thiru K.R. Narayanan, President of India

on September 20th 1997. School of Excellence in Law established in

2002. In addition to this, affiliated Government Law Colleges in

Chennai, Madurai, Trichy, Coimbatore, Thirunelveli, Chengalpattu and 3
