1960: The First steps of CALL

1968: The First CALL software was developed

1970 :European CALL Projects have been known

since then, with Russian programs from the

University of Essex

80’s: Researchers focused more on language

methodology rather then on computer skills

1984: The most striving CALL Project was PLATO at

Illinois university

1986: The PLATO project concentrated on classical,

modern and foreign language in general. All the exercises

impelled by the computer were without any involvement

from the teacher

90’s: New sophisticated tools developed such as

the possibilities of multimedia tools

Mid 90’s: Developers of CALL found internet as a huge

potential of teaching/learning
