A Sweet Potato Between Two Stones

To the North:China, the largest communistcountry in the world.

To the South:India, the largest democraticcountry in the world.

Solving the ideological conflict between communism and democracy is in Nepal’s national interest.

Fundamental Problem

Instead of focusing on "power" (control vs. freedom)

Headwing Ideology focuses on "education."

Principle education generates “self-control” through development

of a God-centered conscience.

Interdependence

“Ownership” in both capitalist and socialist economies are simply material possession. They lack the dimension of love. Human beings were to exercise joint ownership (stewardship) over all things–with a heart of gratitude to God. In Creation for example all birds “own” the sky; all fish “own” the ocean, all animals “own” the land. No single bird, fish or animal monopolizes everything.

In a family, the property is legally owned by the parents. But more important than a legal document, children always have a heart of gratitude and love towards their parents and take good care of the family property as if it were their own.

18

Page 19: Preparation for the Second Coming Chapter 19. FormationGrowth Completion 1517164817891918 World War I Treaty of Westphalia Protestant Reformation French.

Mutual Prosperity

This is “ownership of government” and requires a public-minded attitude; it is spiritual in nature. In Western societies the policy of separating church and state has, in effect, removed ethical and moral principles from governing. Communists call themselves a “people’s democracy,” but outlaw religion altogether. Both systems of government have become self-serving: “governments of their party, by their party, for their party.” If the spiritual and moral dimensions of social order are not addressed, then these economic developments will be undermined, as we are seeing today in both democratic and communist societies.

19

Page 20: Preparation for the Second Coming Chapter 19. FormationGrowth Completion 1517164817891918 World War I Treaty of Westphalia Protestant Reformation French.

Universally Shared Values

The concept of universal values is the very core of an ideal society. If we cannot find universal ethics and

morals that resonate with all cultures and religions, we will never be able to create a world that is peaceful,

interdependent and co-prosperous.

The Family: A Paradigm of “Good Governance”

The basic values and virtues of good governance are all taught in the model family. Building families of true love is

more fundamental and important to the well-being of society than any other

tradition, including: freedom of speech; rule of law; freedom of religion; ownership of private property;

multi-party, free and fair elections, etc. 22

End of Conflict

23

The fighting and conflict cannot end in an era of democracy – of brothers –

but will only come to an end in the era of parent-centered thought

(headwing ideology).
