Overall Evaluation Of Preliminary Task.

By Laura Knowles.

What I learned during the making of my preliminary task…

• I learned simple things such attaching the cameras to the tripod and how to set them up properly for the different shots that we included. I also learnt how to do some simple editing on the computer including adding titles and clipping different pieces of vedios

• I learnt that we had to shoot different shots that weren’t practically next to each other in the final video but at the end we edited them together. This helped save time as we didn’t have to keep changing the camera angle so frequently.

• I think that we worked well in a group because we knew our parts and what we all had to do for a good outcome.

• We made a storyboard to make it easier when it came to filming. This storyboard included all of the different shots and the angles that were used. Although the final outcome of our piece did turn out a bit different than what we had written on our storyboard.

Issues around continuity…

• I don’t think that there were any major problems with out continuity as we wore the same clothes and tried to look the same on the days of filming, making it look as if it was all filmed at once on the same day.

Areas of success…

• I think that the final video turned out better than expected and the different shots that we used flowed better than we thought they actually would. This made the video look like it was all in one and the mistakes were easily taken away.

• I think that our shot reverse shot worked quiet nicely as we used the 180 degree rule well and made it look like me and Sophie were actually talking to each other.

Areas for development…

• Although I think that our overall continuity worked very well, to improve it I think that we could have tried to make the overall piece try and flow I little bit better by making sure one shot smoothly lead to the next, which would help the video look less sharp.

• I also think that we could have also added some music and sound effects to make the begging of the video where Sophie is walking down the corridor more effective.

How well we met the brief…

• I think that we used the 180 degree rule well and managed to angle the camera well so as you could see the back of the other persons head when the other was talking, and managed to get them at the same height so it didn’t look as if one was higher or lower than the other.

Feedback from others!..

our feedback from another group will be included on the next blog post. It will include what they think we did well and what they think we could have improved on to make it better…

Evaluation of groups contribution…

• In the task I was one of the actresses and I played the villain who was planning world domination.

• I also helped with part of the editing and putting the clipped videos into order to make the whole thing flow like it should do.

• From doing this I have gained a few skills on the computer about how editing works.

• I think that I worked well as part of the group and I did what I needed to do to make the video what it was, and I am happy with how it turned out in the end.

• I also think that everybody else in the group also did what they needed to and knew what roles they had (they worked well doing what they were doing).
