• Repeat this process to include all courses needed

Adding Courses

*Be sure to select GEF not GEC

Schedule Builder Limitations

• The Course Search shows notes about specific courses and sections that do NOT appear in Schedule Builder.

• See the next few slides for examples of these notes and how to address them in Schedule Builder.

MATH Sections

• MATH 126B – Statler College students taking MATH 126B in the fall must register for section 100 or higher. These sections are for students that will eventually need to complete calculus or higher. The design of these sections are specific to STEM majors.

MATH Sections

• MATH 155 – Statler College students taking MATH 155 in the fall must register for section 100 or higher. These sections are for engineering majors.

• MATH 155 – Students taking MATH 155 must register for a lecture and recitation section. These sections are paired specifically together.

• MATH 155 Tests are on Tuesdays at 5:30p. Avoid scheduling courses at that time.

The recitations that are paired with a lecture immediately follow the lecture.

MATH Sections – Schedule Builder

You can add a “Break” within Schedule Builder to block out Tuesday evenings for MATH 155 tests. This will allow you to eliminate any course sections that would meet during that time. Tests begin at 5:30p, so it’s best to block from 5:00p (to allow for travel time, etc.).

MATH Sections – Schedule Builder

MATH 126 and MATH 155: Engineering students must take sections 100 or higher, all other options should be deselected.

CHEM Sections

• CHEM 110 is a course split into the first and second half of the semester. Students should register for matching sections. (Same professor, same day, same time, same room – the only difference is half of semester.)

CHEM Sections

CHEM Sections

• CHEM 115 – Students taking CHEM 115 must register for a lecture and lab. The labs are tied to specific lectures.

ENGR Sections

• Students must have a math course on their schedule prior to adding ENGR 100, 101, or 151. If a student attempts to add these ENGR courses while math is not registered, a “Pre-Requisite and Test Score Error” will appear.

• If you drop a section of MATH to better accommodate the schedule, ENGR will also drop. You will need to re-add the course.

• Full time Statler students may not register for online sections of ENGR 101 in the fall term. These sections are reserved for High School ACCESS students.

• ENGR 101 is only available to students registered for MATH 155 or higher.

• ENGR 100 is only available to students registered for MATH 129 or MATH 153

• Use the arrow keys to navigate between schedules

Narrowing Schedules

• If you generate >50 schedules try narrowing your results• Add breaks if you don’t like

morning/evening classes• Only check a certain

course’s sections for TR or MTF to balance your week

• Lock in a specific course section

Selecting your Schedule

• Once you have your final schedule selected, click Send to Shopping Cart

• Course information will be sent to STAR

• Click Register and ensure all courses were successfully added

Registration Errors

• Link Error - occurs when you are trying to register for a class that has either a lab or recitation that belongs with it (CHEM 115 lecture & lab, MATH 155 lecture & recitation, etc).

• Time Conflict – occurs when you are trying to register 2 or more courses that are scheduled for the same time(s)/day(s)

• Pre-Requisite & Test Score Error – occurs when you do not meet the requirements to take a course• This error also appears if you attempt to add an ENGR course before you’ve registered for your

MATH course. MATH must be registered for prior, or at the same attempt, as ENGR.

Registration Errors

• Level Restriction - occurs if you are not the appropriate level for the course (a sophomore course and you are a freshman, etc.)

• Cohort Restriction – occurs if you attempt to add an Honors course when you are not an Honors student.

• Department Approval – occurs if you attempt to add a section reserved for a specific population of students (i.e. majors only, part-time only, etc.)
