Page 31: PPRROOFFIILLEE - · PDF fileEXHIBIT NO.22 REGISTRATION CERTIFICATE ... Olayan Descon ... attributed to the dedication of our engineers and :

They must obtain competitive pricing, negotiate contracts, and then work with the project manager to ensure the vendors adequately perform their scope of work. Procurement managers oversee various types of contracts on a project (i.e. they procure a wide variety of services). Typically, they will either procure specialty trades or they will procure materials and furnishings. The procurement manager is responsible for contracting every item of the project not being performed / provided by the general contractor. Procurement managers must be extremely well-versed in contracts and negotiations. Their primary function is to enter into agreements with vendors and subcontractors for their services. The procurement manager needs to verify there are no loopholes in this agreement which put the general contractor at risk. The procurement manager also needs to have a large list of contacts so they can identify the proper vendor or sub to perform the specific services required. A strong procurement manager has the potential to save a construction company a great deal of money on construction costs. Procurement managers with numerous contacts and industry experience can find the best price for the services required. Also, strong negotiation skills can help the contractor obtain contract terms that advance the project's interests. The primary consideration when hiring a procurement manager should be experience.
