When God Comes CloseFor our God is a consuming fire. ~ Hebrews 12: 29

When God comes close everything is burned up in the fire that is God.

Our worthless prayersOur distracting relationshipsOur mundane tasks and activitiesOur absent thoughtsOur aimless declarationsOur faithless walkOur exasperated hopesOur empty dreamsOur visions of self-grandeur

All that we are or have that is not of God will be consumed.

Phony aspects of our personalityThe devious nature of our willManipulative maneuvers we use to get our way or avoid responsibility

The fire burns hot and exposes who we really are:

LazyProudSelf-righteousMeanVindictiveNarrow mindedSmall minded

We see the remains of the fire and what is left forms the raw material of God’s re-creative powers. Behold, all things become new.

And we witness the miracle of beauty from ashes.

The discomfort of God’s presence can be mistaken for something treacherous. Something we want to run from. You may not recognize the feeling. But hold steady. Don’t turn away. Stand still and see. The consuming element of the fire that is God will do you good. It will destroy you and leave the God in you to shine forth.

God comes close to do a work in a time arranged for you from the beginning of time. He has watched you for a while. He has never left you alone. But now He comes face to face. Feel the heat. It is uncomfortable. Until you know what is happening.

God has come. His presence surrounds you. And His fire burns. It touches everything in your life. It is suffocating. You wonder if you will survive the touch. You wonder if there will be anything left. And well you should.

God’s fire will take everything and leave you with nothing.

Nothing to lean onNothing to depend onNo one to blameNo excuses

God comes close to wrap you in His fire. And in the aftermath we see ourselves and the potential from the work of His hands. With the junk burned away, the treasure is revealed.

And God can use everything that is left of you.

The Denied Mothers : Eve and MaryLack of honor, recognition and praise!

President Woodrow Wilson signed a resolution May 8th, 1914 recommending Mother’s Day would become a national

observance. The next year, 1915, Mrs. Anna Jarvis received recognition as the founder

and the 2nd Sunday in May became the National Observance of Mother’s Day. The Methodist Episcopal Churches were the first in Grafton, West Virginia and Philadelphia,

Pennsylvania.

Why… are some of us criticized and ridiculed because of the love we display for Mary? We don’t worship her, but we reverence (respect, adore and praise) her

being the mother of our Saviour. God highly favored her, why can’t we? Is the Church in favor of your mother more than the mother

of Jesus? ~ Happy Mother’s Day.
