Concept Statement:

In creating a portfolio site, my aim will be to present my work in the best possible setting for the viewer (mainly potential clients/customers). I want my work to be the focal point on any given page on the site. To ensure that the viewer’s attention is grabbed immediately, I will display featured (my best) work on the home page. Upon landing at the home page, the viewer will immedi-ately be exposed to a carousel slideshow of my work. This will (hopefully)rewardtheviewerwithalittleinstantgratification. From there, the viewer can click directly on an image that inter-ests them, or freely navigate my portfolio or information section.

The basic structure of the site, such as navigation, headers, and links, will be intuitive and minimal (in terms of size and color) so as not to compete for the viewer’s attention. Ideally, I want all structural elements to be obvious enough for intuitive function-ality in the interface, but subtle enough to blend into the back-ground when they are not needed. This will not be an easy task, but I think it’s a crucial component. I want the viewer to feel at ease and comfortable when navigating my site. I will use very few visual elements for navigation as well as a very limited color pal-ette to reinforce this concept of minimalism. Navigation between pages will fade content in and out to reinforce an easy, hassle-free, smooth (potential) design process.

My task for this project was to pick a festival logo and redesign it. Then take the new logo and apply it to a product. I chose Seattle Center Winterfest because I felt that the current logo did not accurately represent the festival.
