Tectum is a small building contractor founded by two associates and employing up to five workers, especially active in renovation projects of roof structures and roofs. The use of natural based insulation materials and good workmanship is their main goal. They focus on improving air tightness and high quality finishing.During my three years of apprenticeship, I experienced working with different materials (tiles, wood and stone slates, zinc, roofing and EPDM) and techniques such as sarking insulation and wooden structures.

In 2010, I undertook the full renovation of the North wing of our 16th century family’s farmhouse with the assistance of my brother. We completed transformation of one part of it into a workshop for wood- and metalworking and another part into an independent residence, characterised by clay walls and timber-frame structures and wooden floor supports.

After gaining full qualifications as a professional roofer (studies and three-year apprenticeship), I wanted a stronger technical background. I completed a degree programme in Construction Technology, which gave me a thorough background for building work, including building thermodynamics / physics, engineering, building materials and creating detailed construction drawings in AutoCAD.
