To the Counsel of the City of Plymouth, Minnesota:

Since OneHockey began back in 2004 in Sherbrooke, Quebec, we have seen our program grow from 6 teams to 180 teams this year and provide the local area of the tournament with millions in revenue. We have hosted over 15 countries, thousands of youth hockey players, families, coaches and scouts from around the world.

OneHockey, is the worlds largest international youth hockey tournament hosting elite of all ages.

The kids who participate in OneHockey are leaders in their sport and leaders in their home communities.

As a former NHL professional, I know how important it is to continually learn new skills and establish experience playing for select teams. Through OneHockey, players are able to learn from others across the country or across the ocean. They are able to play for a select team and make international friendships. For those players who need financial help to participate we are proud to provide a scholarship fund, which in part recognizes your sponsorship support.

I encourage you to be a part of this mission and to provide us with the best possible support for this international outreach for youth.

I thank you for your willingness to support this international endeavor for the hockey youth of our world.

Sincerely,

Sebastian Fortier

Sebastien Fortier’s father, Geatan Fortier started the Sherbrooke International Bantam Tournament in 1989 which was known internationally as the worlds largest and best organized hockey tournament. Geatan Fortier built this successful international tournament on the vision of improving youth hockey and providing an international forum for learning and friendships. Many professional hockey players such as Alex Ovechkin, Danial Zubrus, Yanick Perrault and many more played in his tournaments.

Geatan Fortier has not only provided a stepping stone for international hockey but he provided much needed resources to the Sherbrooke, Quebec community to include athletic funds and scholarships as well as hospital donations for advancements. Improving hockey and improving the community was an important part of his mission. After retiring in 1999, he chose to consult for his son Sebastian, who has taken on the task of continuing his father’s legacy by starting OneHockey International Tournament.

The vision for OneHockey is to establish the world’s best attended international AAA Hockey Tournament in the world. The mission of OneHockey is to bring elite level hockey players, families, coaches and scouts to an event that will provide exposure to different coaching techniques and improve the youth hockey program both domestically and abroad.

Spruce Grove Examiner May 2011

OneHockey tourney has major impact on at least two local businesses; plans call forevent to returnBy Gord MontgomeryPosted 7 days ago In hindsight there may havebeen some bumps, some wrinkles that could have been ironed out and some hurdles that weren't cleared with the greatest of ease, but all in all, the first-ever OneHockey tournament in Spruce Grove and west Edmonton went off about as well as could be expected.Or maybe, just maybe, better than expected. "It was really well done, I thought. It was a huge success," OneHockey president Sebastian Fortier stated as he took a break from cleaning up the tournament office at the Grant Fuhr Arena in the Grove the day after the First International Spring Elite Challenge ended."This was really big. I always thought it would be, but this was even bigger than I thought it would be."Despite some early negativity toward the tournament because it was a shared event with Edmonton's mega-mall and another rink, the tournament which played host to 54 teams, ran like clockwork. Included in those teams were a number of local clubs, and kids, which made this an extra special way to wrap up their hockey season. As well, the volunteer crew that was recruited turned in excellent performances, Fortier noted."It was the best run tournament we've ever had but it wasn't even close to what it will be when we have everything we want."We really wanted to impress here," Fortier continued about this "trial" run. "We worked hard, invested so much money. Many people were expecting a lot from this and I don't think anyone was disappointed. "Shaun Lund, the tournament director, said everyone that participated in the four-day hockey extravaganza got all they hoped for, if not more."I think we exceeded a lot of people's expectations in the fact it was kind of a mystery to people. Some have seen our summer tournament (in Philadelphia, PA) and they definitely knew what we were up to. We've already gotten e-mails from people this year about this tournament that said "magical," and "Wow!" and things like that."In my mind we definitely went over the top and we had to, to show people what OneHockey is doing and what we can give to the kids as far as experience and having moments like that."Restaurants prosperGreat moments were also realized by two local businesses, at minimum, over the duration of the tournament.

North America’s Best

Four OneHockey players were recently drafted in the NHL! TJ Brennan went to the Buffalo Sabers (2nd round of 2007), Max Nicastro went to the Detroit Red Wings (2nd pick of 2008), Justin his twin & Drew Daniels to the St. Jose Sharks in the 1st and 8th round. Many players go on to play prep school hockey or are drafted into Jr. A and B programs throughout the U.S. Scouts find that OneHockey is a good place to watch players in unfamiliar environments and circumstances to see their ability to adapt to change. OneHockey is one of the most scouted youth hockey tournament in the world for players ages seven to seventeen.
