Play it safe when you’re having fun!

Updated August 2010

To be careful not to do anything against

someone's wishes or rights.

WAIT YOUR TURN

• Form a line

• Only go down the slide – do

not climb back up the slide

• Maintain a safe distance when

waiting in line (one arm’s length)

• Face forward

• No cuts or

saving spots

LISTEN TO ALL ADULTS

• Make eye contact

• Listen before speaking

• Use polite language (“please” & “thank you”)

• Remember they are there to keep you

safe

Remember that playground games

(soccer, basketball, kickball, etc.) are

just for fun.

If you play too aggressively you will be

removed from the game and have to

take a time out.

Remember that all students have the

right to enjoy recess fun – no one

should be excluded.

FIGHTING IS

NOT ALLOWED

This includes:

• pretend fighting

• karate, Ninja Turtles,

Power Rangers, etc.

STOP PLAYING AT THE

BELL

• THEN WALK TO YOUR LINE.

• Make sure you get your

lunchbox, jackets, and hats, etc.

PUT AWAY ALL EQUIPMENT

• Return equipment to

designated area – Don’t take

recess equipment to your

classroom unless it came

from your classroom.

• If you see something

left behind pick it up.

• When returning equipment,

hold it with both hands.

TELL AN ADULT IF

SOMEONE IS HURT

• All adult supervisors may help you Teachers

Recess Aides

Noon Duty

• Get a pass BEFORE

going to the nurse.

WALK TO AND FROM THE

PLAYGROUND

• No running, skipping, hopping, etc.

• Watch where you are going

• Hallways are NOT playgrounds

• Hands to yourself

• Children should not be in

the areas between the EBs

during lunch or recess.

PLEASE DON’T BRING

YOUR PETS – AND DON’T

PET THE ANIMALS!

Squirrels, raccoons, and

other “friends” live on our

campus. NEVER

approach a wild animal –

and always tell an adult!

STAY IN DESIGNATED AREAS

• Stay in front of buildings – do not play between the portable buildings.

• Stay on designated side of cones and lines.

• Stay off fences, gates, and trees.

IF YOU NEED TO TAKE A

BREAK…GO TO THE YELLOW RESPECT BENCH WHEN YOU

HAVE BROKEN A CHARACTER PILLAR AND NEED TO

TAKE A BREAK. YOU MAY GO BACK TO PLAY WHEN

YOU HAVE BEEN GIVEN PERMISSION BY AN ADULT.

Have a great

recess – and

play it safe!

THE CHOICE IS

YOURS!
