What is the PET?

Polyethylene terephthalate , commonly abbreviated PET, PETE, or the obsolete PETP or PET-P), is a thermoplastic polymer resin of the polyester family and is used in synthetic fibers; beverage, food and other liquid containers; thermoforming.

Properties of the PET

*Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) is a hard, stiff, strong, dimensionally stable material that absorbs very little water.

*It has good gas barrier properties and good chemical resistance except to alkalis.

How to recycle?• Post-consumer polyethylenes are ordered into

different color fractions, cleaned, and prepared for processing.

• The PET waste is crushed, chopped into flakes, pressed into bales.

• One use for this recycled PET is to create fabrics to be used in the clothing industry.

• The recycled PET thread or yarn can be used either alone or together with other fibers to create a very wide variety of fabrics.
