You will now plan your website

• For homework I asked you to identify what you want to create a website about.

• You will now put together a presentation using the slides following this one to plan your site ready to build it next week.

1. Topic

I have chosen to create a website about farm machinery. This is because I like farming and have a farm of my own where we have lots of different types of farm machinery. And also because it what I know most about.

Ideas…• Hobby• Band• Club• Sports

2. Audience

The type of person that would visit my site would be someone like a farmer or another farm machinery dealer to buy from me and sell on their own website. People would be particularly looking at things on my website like tractors or implements to go on a tractor e.g. plough, sewer or cultivator. Or smaller things like animal care products for example fly spray or shearing machines.

Ideas…• Who are they?• Where are they from?• What will they want to

see?• What kinds of information

will be needed?

3. Key Words

I will need to use words related to my topic these will include hot words and hyperlinks, wording on a specific subjects, tables, graphics.

Ideas…• Wording (Subject Specific)• Hot Words/Hyperlinks

4. Layout

I want my website to include many pictures of what’s for sale, text boarders to search specific things, text boxes on details about the items, frames and boarders to make my website look more appealing and attractive to the clients looking to buy something on my website.

Ideas…• Pictures• Frames• Borders• Tables• Text Boxes

5. General Interface (what it looks like)

In the background I will have images and different colours to make my website look good and to stand out more.

I will use buttons to play mini clips of something in action for example a tractor and plough so the buyer knows what he’s looking at properly.

My buttons will look big and colourful so people can’t miss them and stand out above everything else.

Ideas…• Background (image / colour)• Buttons (square / round/ animated/ picture / change colour)

6. Logo

Will your website have a logo?

Yes but I will use an excising logo that stands out to the website user (as seen below).

Where will it come from?

My website logo will come from Google images.

Ideas…• Existing?• Your Own?• Watermark effect?• Small in a corner?

7/8. Title & Body Text

What will the title be

My title will be farm machinery

What type of font/writing will you use? What size writing will it be?

My writing will be big and bold so it’s easy to see but a font that is easy to read and catches the user’s eye. For example:(

Farm machinery

Ideas…• Font• Font Colour• Font Size

9. Pictures

Paste the pictures you want to use here…

Where are they from? (i.e. internet, digital camera)

They will be from the internet- Google images.

10. Navigation

How many pages will you webpage have?

My website will roughly have about 15-20 pages long.

What will each of these pages show? These pages will show farm implements for example
