Be sure to include your admission number and your name in Roman letters

in the mail title, as in this example: 14031 WASEDA, Taro

Please write no more than 200 words in answer to question 1, and no more

than 50 words in answer to question 2.

The aim of WeTEC and this writing test is to help us provide you with the

English-language classes that best fit your individual needs. Remember that your

level of ability may vary significantly among the four skills (listening, speaking,

reading, and writing) and that this will be reflected in the classes to which you are

assigned. Your score in the Writing Test, in particular, helps us place you in the most

appropriate level of English 3 (Academic Writing).

Guidelines for WeTEC

●What is WeTEC? WeTEC stands for Web-based Test for English Communication and is a standard test for evaluating English proficiency which is taken online. It applies IRT (Item Response Theory), which adjusts the difficulty of the questions in accordance with the correct or incorrect answers to preceding questions. This can accurately evaluate ability in a short amount of time. ●Features (1) Convenient It takes about 60 minutes to complete the test. WeTEC is available at any time and any place within the set schedule.

(2) Receive your score immediately Since WeTEC utilizes CAT (Computer Adaptive Test) technology, WeTEC can accurately evaluate ability in a short time. The test score is displayed on the screen soon after the test is completed. Individual users as well as administrators can check the score immediately. ●Test Format ●Necessary Equipment (1) PC Users are required to check the PC environment before taking the test. (2) Headphones or speakers WeTEC contains listening tests, so the user is required to check if he/she is able to listen to the sound clearly.

③ Sound check Test the sound level to ensure high sound quality.

⑤ Taking the WeTEC test WeTEC consists of 4 sections. It takes about 60 minutes to complete the test.

⑥ Test score The test score is displayed right after the test is completed. Each section has 250 points and 1,000 points in total.

英語Ⅱ履修申請用紙(B)Application Form for Taking English Ⅱ(B)

本日の英語プレスメントテストの成績や英語スコア申請用紙(A)を提出したことに関係なく、

英語Ⅱ(General Tutorial English/Speaking クラス)の受講希望者は、この用紙を 4月 1日まで

に国際教養学部事務所に提出(郵送(必着))か Email 添付にて送付)してください。

送付先詳細は、「英語スコア提出用紙(A)」下部を参照のこと。

Despite of fulfilling the exemption requirement, those who want to take English II (General

Tutorial English / Speaking class) must submit this application form to the SILS office (via

email attachment or postal) by no later than April 1.

Please refer to the bottom part of "Application form on English language score (A)" for

detailed address.

(*1) <英語科目とは English language courses are:>

英語Ⅰ English I (Intensive English: reading and listening リーディングとリスニングのクラス)

英語Ⅱ English II (General Tutorial English: speaking class 会話のクラス)

英語Ⅲ English Academic Writing:ライティングのクラス)。全学生が履修しなければいけません。

English III (English Academic Writing: writing class). All students must take this course.

❀プレイスメントテストの結果により、みなさんの英語クラスが決定します。

テストの結果、スコア 550 点以上取得した学生は、英語 I・英語 II(*1 参照)が免除となります。

❀You will be placed in appropriate English courses based on today’s English placement test.

If you obtain 550 or more, you will be exempted from taking English I and II (*1).

原則として、免除になった学生さんは英語のスキルが十分あると考えられますが、Speaking に自信が

ない方、もしくは教員免許取得を考えている方は、「英語Ⅱ履修申請用紙(B)」を提出することにより、

英語Ⅱ(General Tutorial English/Speaking のクラス)を受講することが可能です(自動登録されます)。

提出期限は 4 月 1 日までです。提出しない場合、同科目の履修には別途聴講料(約 4 万円強)が発

生しますので、十分注意してください。

Even though you are exempted from English I and II have high English skills, you may be able to take

English II (General Tutorial English) if you submit this application form to the SILS office by April 1th,

Tutorial English will be automatically registered.

The deadline is April 1th(Japan Time). If you want to take this course without submitting this form,

you must pay additional fees (around 40,000yen and more), so please be careful.
