General DescriptionThe Piping Training Systems form a hands-on training program designed to train students for careers as pipe fitters and piping maintenance technicians.

The main learning objectives are the reading of piping schematics, calculation of pipe lengths, fabrication, installation, and testing of piping circuits made of galvanized steel pipes, hoses, PVC pipes, and copper tubes. The systems can also be used to teach students how to enforce the safety rules to be followed when working at industrial sites.

Several configurations are available to match specific training needs.

The Mobile WorkstationThe Mobile Workstation is the basic component of the training system. It is a versatile bench designed for the setting up of piping circuits. The pipes are fixed to the Mobile Workstation using metal struts and pipe hangers. The workstation can accommodate two student groups at the same time, and is sized to fit through standard door openings.

ToolsPerforming the courseware exercises in the Piping Training Systems requires a number of specialized tools that are supplied with the training system. These include a threader, a reamer, a cutter, vise, benders, wrenches, a level, and a flaring tool.

Performing the courseware exercises also requires the following basic tools, that must be provided by the user:

StorageThe Piping Training System includes wall supports and many storage spaces on the Mobile Workstation to store the components.

CoursewareThe courseware supplied with the Piping Training Systems consists of a student manual and an instructor guide. Two reference textbooks are also included. The student manual consists of a series of work orders that describe different tasks to be performed by students. The corresponding instructor guide provides the list of points that should

be checked to assess the student work as well as the answers to questions. The student manual and instructor guide are fully illustrated and color printed.

ConsumablesConsumable items such as pipes, tubes, hoses, fittings, and tapes are required to perform the courseware exercises. An optional consumables package is available to fill that need. The package includes the consumables required for a student or student group to complete the work orders in the student manual.

Learn about common back flow prevention devices, and test them in a compact workstation

This system is designed to learn the necessary skills to test backflow prevention devices (BFP) using industrial-grade test equipment. The double-sided version accommodates 2 teams.

BFP are of crucial importance for authorities responsible for the supply of potable water to populations. To make sure that public water is safe, cross-connections in the water distribution system with potentially harmful fluids must be identified. Proper backflow prevention devices

must be installed to prevent the contamination of potable water.

The BFP Learning System, features the most common backflow prevention devices used in typical residential and commercial installations. Students learn to perform test procedures on BFP devices.

A mobile workstation forms the basis of the system. It includes various BFP devices and several other components such as a centrifugal pump, a flowmeter, valves, and pipes. Using modern, commercial-grade equipment is helpful in teaching theoretical and hands-on knowledge required to work in backflow prevention.

Pumping Unit 579984 (46750-00)

The Pumping Unit is designed to be installed in the Mobile Workstation. It contains a motor-pump assembly, a reservoir, and a disconnecting switch. The pump is connected to the reservoir via a strainer, ball valve, and pressure measurement point. The pump is controlled by a Start/Stop push-button station protected by a disconnecting switch with lockout/tagout devices. The Pumping Unit and the Mobile Workstation form a stand-alone pumping system that is used to test the piping circuits for leaks.
