BIRTHDAYS & ANNIVERSARIES

All are birthdays unless stated otherwise!

The weekend of Saturday and Sunday, May 8 and 9, was spent at

Pilgrim showing and telling all mothers how much they are loved and

appreciated. There was a wonderful gathering of family and friends at

Saturday’s Annual Spring Luncheon to Honor Mothers sponsored by Pilgrim’s

Women’s Ministry, held in a space lovingly and beautifully decorated by

Sisters Matti Chappel, Nanelle Due and Deloras Ransom.

A delicious spring meal prepared by Sister Lorraine Thurmond and

her assistants was served up by members of the Pilgrim Brotherhood, and

music was provided by Brother Evon Sams. The event was kept on track by

M.C. Sister Virginia Pettigrew-Wheaton. During lunch, those attending were

entertained with performances by Sister Beverly Owens and Minister Carl L.

Towns, and gifts were given to special mothers.

All of the above led up to the our dynamic guest speaker, Evangelist

Pamela Jackson of Merrillville, Indiana, (at right) who blessed all with her

message and personalized prayers. Sister Albertha Towns, President of the

Women’s Ministry, thanked the speaker and the many Pilgrim sisters and brothers who helped make the

event such a success. Pastor Kenneth R. Board capped off a wonderful afternoon of celebrating

mothers with his always encouraging remarks and the benediction!

High School where he participates in the Creative and Performing Arts Program. As a sought-

after musician, Evon has played at a number of facilities and events and was most recently

pictured in the Rockford Register Star as he played at the Coronado Theater for the “2010

Academic All-Stars Salute.” He has received Rock Valley College’s Outstanding Musician

Award two years in a row. Evon shares his talents during Pilgrim’s regular Sunday worship

service and first gave a concert for Pilgrim’s Elevator Wing Fund at age 13.
