PROTOTYPE SPECIFIC INFORMATIONTheGeneralElectricP42DC,alsoknownastheGenesis,isthecurrentprimarypassengerlocomotiveofAmtrak.Producing4250HPandwithatopspeedof110mph,theseunitsareseennationwideonshortandlong-distancetrains.Equippedwithmarkerlightsoneachend,theunitsarealsoseeninserviceonpush-pulltrains.Amtrakoriginallyrostered208oftheunits,numberedfrom1-207.MostnotableamongtheseareAmtrak’sspecially-paintedHeritageunitspaintedin2011forAmtrak’s40thanniversary,andthenewroundofcommemorativeunitsbeingreleasedforthe50thAnniversarythis year.
