In March 2003, in another newspaper, I published asimilar team photograph, taken in 1945. That was theyear this team of young women won the Brockville CityLeague Softball Championships. Some of the sameplayers are in this picture taken the following year.
As you can see, they were coached by a young RayMcClure, now wellknown in Brockville, and were
assisted by his younger brother, Ian, as batboy.The ladies league had been formed three years
earlier, and in 1945 consisted of Phillips Local 510,sponsored by the Electrical Workers Union at thePhillips plant, the Stetson Hat Works team, onerepresenting the Glube’s store and a team fromPrescott.
