PHILIPPINE ACTIVE
GEODETIC NETWORK (PageNET)

NAMRIA Tour of Facilities
What is PageNET?
the country’s new positioning infrastructure which utilizes signals from global navigation satellite systems (GNSS).
a network of continuously operating reference stations that provide real-time, high-precision geographic position data via the Internet.
data generated by the network may be used for surveying and mapping, aviation, navigation, military, scientific research and monitoring, and agriculture, among others.

Each AGS is equipped with a geodetic grade GNSS receiver and antenna,
supplementary sensors (meteorological and tilt), router, uninterrupted power supply (UPS) system, back-up battery,
and other accessories.
Serves as the AGN’s Information Communication Technology (ICT) facility
for online data processing, network monitoring, as well as data storage and
distribution.

ZERO Order Network Observation and Inter- Island BM connections
2. GIS Mapping
PFLO station was used as reference in the orthorectification of a high-resolution satellite image in support of utilities mapping
Pilot testing provided results of up to 7cm accuracy.
Actual Applications

Asia and the Pacific Regional Geodesy Project
(Permanent Committee for GIS Infrastructure for Asia
and the Pacific) Asia-Pacific Reference Frame
Project
Aims to create and maintain an accurate
and densely realized geodetic framework,
based on continuous observation and
analysis of GNSS data
Establish station coordinates and velocities in an
international reference frame
Establish problems caused by tectonic movements
Establish a regional horizontal and vertical datum and
develop transformation parameters between each local
system and the regional datum
PageNET recently participated in the APRGP 2011 Campaign
which ran from 11-17 September 2011. Data from 9 of the 13
stations were submitted to PCGIAP.
1. Crustal Deformation Studies
The Philippines is composed of several tectonic blocks, each moving on its own direction, and with different velocities
The movement of the tectonic blocks has its corresponding effect to the accuracy of the geodetic control network.
The availability of continuous geographic position data from PageNET is helpful in detecting ground deformation/displacement.

2. GPS Meteorology
The Philippines, being an archipelagic nation, stands to be severely affected by climate change.
PageNET may be used to quantify the precipitable water vapor content of the atmosphere.
As the GPS signal travels through the atmosphere, it experiences delays that can be converted into atmospheric water vapor data.
Quantifying this atmospheric variable enhances the accuracy of weather forecasting and helps in monitoring climate change.

Research on Applications of PageNET
Online Access GNSS data sets that are being
gathered by the PageNET can be conveniently distributed to the users through the internet.
PageNET web service is run by SpiderWEB software which allows the network administrators to keep track of data, downloads, users and billing.
