PFA is also committed to creating programs that will open opportunities for the expansion of Philippine franchises domestically and overseas by assisting micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), including the development of incubation centers where highly franchise- able concepts can be introduced to the mainstream market. Who can apply for PFA membership?

What are the types of membership?A. FRANCHISOR MEMBERS

1.Regular Members • Any franchisor of favorable reputation and sound fi nancial condition;• Is into business format franchising and must have a support system for its franchisees;• Must comply with the Fair Franchising Standards (FFS), the Association’s Code of Ethics• Members who comply with the minimum requirements of having been in operation for at least 3 years, with at least 3 company-owned stores and at least 3 franchised outlets or the 3-3-3 rule;

2. Probationary Members Members who comply with the fi rst

3 requirements above and are able to comply with two (2) of the three (3) minimum requirements of the 3-3-3 rule.

B. ALLIED MEMBERS Any entity or corporation engaged in the business of supplying services, equipment, supplies and/or materials to the franchise industry.

What is business format franchising?• Business format franchising is a business relationship where the franchisor provides to the franchisee not just its trade name, products and services, but an entire system for operating the business.

• The franchisee generally receives site selection and development support, operating manuals, training, brand standards, quality control, a marketing strategy and business advisory support from the franchisor.

What documents should be submitted?

What is the process in applying for membership?• Applicants must accomplish the PFA Membership Application Form, which may be downloaded from the PFA website, and to be submitted to the PFA offi ce.

• All applications for PFA Membership will be reviewed by the Membership Committee which shall make appropriate recommendations to the Board of Trustees which will then decide on the application for membership.
