Why do we need to keep our hands clean?

• Cause colds, the flu, stomach bugs…

They can also make us stinky…

Germs are bacteria and viruses that can make us sick.

Where do the germs hide?

Everywhere on you… in your nose, eyes, mouth, feet, armpits, privates, and especially your hands!!!

Everywhere in the environment… doorknobs, railings, elevator buttons, other peoples hands (when you shake.)

Some germs are good for us… but many are not.

Sing Happy Birthday when scrubbing to make sure that you are scrubbing long enough!

Fingernails

Keep them clean, trim and filed. If long and dirty, they hold a lot of germs! (and look gross.)

Girls may grow them out longer so they can file them to keep them from getting jagged. You can use polish or have manicures and pedicures as a fun way of keeping nails clean and pretty!

and water and rinse well to

prevent breakouts.

Apply moisturizer and sunblock after you get out.

Wash with SOAP and water- make sure you wash all areas that sweat and can cause body odor (underarms and privates) and rinse well.

Wash your feet well- between

toes and behind your ankles!

When you get out of the shower…

• Dry yourself off well! Between the toes,

under your arms, etc!

• Apply deodorant- so you don’t get smelly again. You can also use powders, lotions or body sprays.

• Apply sunblock to protect against

the sun
