Every once in a while you may see an antique clock (or a new clock masquerading as an antique) displaying the Latin expression TEMPUS FUGIT.And if you know a little bit about the Latin language, you may know that this expression means Time flies. And oh, how it does! During the first week of Lent, clergy and parish leadership have been thinking about Holy Week, and, specifically, the Easter Triduum. Thats about five weeks from now, which may seem like a long time but is not! (In fact, in my perfect world, preparation for Holy Week would begin in November and be completed before Lent begins! Alas, that has not been possible this year.) I can give you this much information: We plan to celebrate the full Easter Triduum (Holy Thursday Mass, Good Friday Service, Easter Vigil Mass, and Easter Sunday Masses) in all three of the parishes of the Anderson- Alexandria Pastorate. Tentatively, the times for the Triduum Liturgies, in all three parishes, will be 7:00 pm on Holy Thursday (April 1), 7:00 pm on Good Friday (April 2), and 8:15 pm on Holy Saturday (the Easter Vigil, April 3). We are still working on the schedule for Easter Sunday, trying to balance the possibility of large Easter Sunday crowds and the need for continued social distancing. We hope to have the Easter Sunday schedule decided soon. You may remember that last years Holy Week liturgies were not open to the public, which indicates how seriously the Bishops of Indiana were taking the emerging Coronavirus Pandemic. This year, while I dont anticipate the rep- etition of such severe measures, no doubt there will be some adaptations or restrictions regarding rituals like the washing of feet on Holy Thursday or the Veneration of the Cross at the Easter Vigil on Holy Saturday night, along with restrictions already in place regarding distribution of Communion under both kinds, congregational singing, etc. Even so, we want this years Holy Week services to be what they are meant to be: A joyful and meaningful celebra- tion of the LordPassion, Death, and Resurrection. Because tempus fugit, time flies, please start planning now to participate if you can. Fr.
