The right measure at the right time

Measuring

The patented Omnigrid patchwork rulers are

known for their excellent quality. Offering a

wide variety of different rulers, Prym widens

the spectrum of possibilities for any require-

ment – so quilters are guaranteed correct

measurements.

Omnigrid provides many advantages:

− Yellow/black grid print for precise marking on light and dark fabrics.

− Scratch-proof lasered markings on the underside of the rulers eliminate optical distortion.

− Thick and robust material helps steadily guide rotary cutters and art knives.

− Clear and functional arrangement of angle markings (30°, 45°, 60°) for cutting triangles and lozenges or also bias strips.

− Line spacing in increments of 0.25 cm, or 1/8 inch, for extra accuracy.

− Rulers available in metric and inch version.

− Easy and convenient use for patchworking; also suitable for dressmaking or graphic design.

Squares of 4 triangles

Place the triangle ruler onto the fabric so that the ruler marking of the required square size is on the fabric edge. Use the rotary cutter to cut along the edges. The straight grain is at the long side of the triangle.

Squares of 2 triangles

Cut two fabric strips, each of which should be 1.5 cm = 2 x 0.75 cm (½ inch = 2 x ¼ inch) wider than the finished square for the seam allowance. Place the fabric strips right sides together, position the triangle ruler on the fabric strips so that the tip marked with a broken line projects beyond the upper edge of the strip. The finished size can now be checked at the bottom edge. Use the rotary cutter to cut along the straight and the bias edges. Turn the ruler for more triangles. The bias grain is always at the long side of the triangle.

Cutting

The right cut

− Take the rotary cutter apart for regular

cleaning. A small drop of sewing machine

oil on the blade makes it run more

smoothly for more precise cuts.

− Worn blades can still be used for

handicraft to cut paper or cardboard.

− Regularly replace the blades as sharp

rotary cutter blades protect the hand

from unnecessary fatigue while blunt

blades can produce inaccurate cuts and

damage the cutting mat.

Tips:Rotary cutters from Prym are great for patch-

work. Special cuts that require precision are

made significantly easier with these practical

tools. They easily cut up to 20 layers of fabric at

once or cut neatly along a long, straight line –

both forwards and back.

Marking

Easy transfer

With an extensive assortment of products, Prym

also provides the answer to every marking need.

Whether ergonomic marking tool or self-erasing

or water erasable pen, with fine or thick lines –

you are guaranteed to find a practical solution to

meet your personal preferences. Quilt patterns,

as a result, are easy to transfer and fabrics

marked with utmost accuracy.

Tips:

− All markings using water erasable pens

are effortlessly removed by gently

dabbing them with water or the

water pen.

− Always test the marking properties on a

fabric remnant before use, as the various

material compositions react differently

with the ink.
