Living Nativity Saturday, December 16th, 2017
4:00pm – 9:00pm
Please join us for a moment of spiritual reflection in preparation for the birth of Jesus. St. James Parish in Okotoks is building the Town of Bethlehem in the field next to the church. There, you will see real people interacting in elements of that time; a bakery, a pottery booth, a wine shop, a spice shop, a wool shop, an inn, a prison, a Roman Solider hut (with real horses), a carpenter’s workshop, a blacksmith, a tax collector’s office, a candle shop, shepherds, and a stable with the Holy Family. There will also be choirs singing carols to add to the festivities. Food and beverages will be available for a small price, and donations will be accepted to help cover the costs of the event. Mass will be celebrated at 5:30pm. Invite your family & friends, and follow the signs to the “Town of Bethlehem” to join us for an evening of fellowship and spirituality.
House Blessings will take place during Advent and
Lent. Please email [email protected] or
call the Parish Office at 403-938-3122 to set up a time.
See bulletin board or website for a schedule of available
times. Please sign up for Adoration.
Times are Mon-Fri: 6-9am & 5-7pm (1hr
minimum). Two people must be in the
chapel at all times. The Sign-up sheet is
in the Chapel.

Stewardship Reflection:
November 19, 2017 - 33rd Sunday in Ordinary Time
“Well done, my good and faithful servant. Since you have been faithful in
small matters, I will give you great responsibilities.”- MATTHEW 25:21
God expects us to nurture and develop the gifts He has given us and then
generously return a portion with increase. He doesn’t want us to waste or
hoard the gifts He has given us; He expects us to grow our gifts, use them
wisely and be generous with them. Unfortunately, many of us are not
generous in proportion to all that God has given us.

A special book has been set up in the Church for

SOCKS of JOY:
“Loneliness and the feeling of being unwanted
is the most terrible poverty.” Mother Teresa
This year marks our 5th anniversary of our Advent project: Socks of Joy. We will be bringing them closer to home and allowing all parishioners the chance to really experience the true gift of giving this Christmas Season. Together with, Sandstone Lodge, our goal is to reach out and spread kindness with companionship; to those that are lonely and in need of a smile, a chat, some time, a card game or just some Christmas caroling. We will be filling stockings for 50 residents and also for Veterans within the surrounding communities. Sign-up sheets will be available after all Masses in November.
Items for Residents: large print playing cards, large print
word searches, puzzles, magazines, soap, soap dish, lotion, lip balm, gum, peppermints, cough drops, trail mix, peppermint patties, socks, night light, key chain, small Kleenex pack, coffee mug, water bottles, hot chocolate, tea, back scratcher, shoe horn, pens, small note pads, Okotoks taxi vouchers. Childrens art, words of encouragement.
Mankind is a great, an immense family... This is proved by what we feel in our hearts at Christmas.- Pope John XXIII
