VOLUNTEER LIST

Food Drive for Food Pantry

As we are stocking up our pantries for the Holidays, remember to help our St. Mary’s Food Pantry. Clean out your pantry and donate those items you are not going to use. We all have cans and jars in there that we bought but will never use. Donate them! Or when you are shopping buy several extra items on sale. The pantry will take anything! Leave them in the back of the church or take them to the Carroll Room. You may also place a sack under the stairs in the Parish Hall clearly marked Food Pantry. The number of people we serve each week is around 100. Feel free to drop by our pantry any Monday at 10:30 to see you donations at work. Thank you so much.

ENTHRONEMENT OF THE SACRED HEART

Jesus told St. Margaret Mary (promise 11) "Those who propagate this devotion shall have their names written in My Heart never to be blotted out." Pope Leo XIII enthroned the Sacred Heart of Jesus over the whole world. We must see that Jesus desires to be King of the entire world! Jesus whose infinite love is symbolized by His Heart requested devotion toward His Sacred Heart. It is love for the Heart of Jesus that prompts us to enthrone our homes to His most Sacred Heart. TREASURES FROM OUR TRADITION

.Earlier this autumn, we looked at how our Eucharistic Prayers have been enriched by the approval of several new prayers to augment the old Roman Canon. For us, there are the four standard prayers, three for Masses with Children, and the most recent addition, the former Swiss Eucharistic Prayer with four alternative forms (now known as the Eucharistic Prayer for Masses for Various Needs and Occasions). We also have two Eucharistic Prayers for Masses of Reconciliation. The source for these two prayers is the request by many bishops for a special prayer for the "Holy Year" of 1975. Originally, the committee in charge was commissioned to write a single prayer, but the theme proved so rich that it gave rise to two. The first is based on and develops biblical texts on reconciliation. The second starts with the experience of living in today's fractured world, and how the Spirit calls us to reconciliation and peace. Not everyone was happy with all this creativity, saying that if too many were published, it would be difficult for the Vatican to control further requests. Everyone thought the pope would put strict limits on the prayers, but in the end he said he was willing to open doors that had long been closed. Although he approved them for a period of only three years, they were never formally removed from the Sacramentary and have been incorporated into the new Roman Missal. --Rev. James Field, Copyright (c) J. S. Paluch Co.

SHARING OUR GIFTS

Autumn is the season for harvesting and sharing the fruits of our labors. This week's scriptures use images of the harvest, family life, pregnancy, and investment to describe the abundant harvest in the reign of God. We discover that sharing the gifts we have been given brings eternal rewards for everyone. In the Gospel parable a master entrusts his possessions to three servants before going on a journey. Each is given some talents. What they do with those talents determines what the master will do with them when he returns. How about us? What are we doing with our talents? How will our Master treat us when he returns? Copyright (c) J. S. Paluch Co., Inc.

Sacred Relics Of The Saints Treasures Of The Church

Sunday December 3 @ 3:30pm in Church. Father Carlos Martins of the Companions of the Cross will be here to teach about these holy objects. He is bringing over 150 relics, some as old as 2000 years. Among the treasures will be relics of St. Joseph, St. Maria Goretti, St. Therese of Lisieux (the “Little Flower"), St. Francis of Assisi, St. Anthony of Padua, St. Thomas Aquinas, and St. Faustina Kowalska. In addition, there will also be present a portion of the veil of Our Lady, as well as one of the largest remaining pieces of the True Cross in the world. Those in attendance will be able to examine and venerate each relic. In the Church’s history many miracles and healings have been worked in the presence of relics, and many have been healed through this ministry. You are encouraged to bring your articles of devotion (such as rosar ies, holy cards, etc.) and pictures of ill friends/family members which you will be able to touch to the reliquaries as a means of intercession.

WWP Opening Your Heart Connect Coffee Talk:

God—First Place in All Things

Our most important priority is our relationship with God. This is the place that God needs to have in our lives. When He is at the center, everything else stays in balance. When we let other things take center stage, it all comes crashing down. Please join us for a taste of Walking with Purpose as we discuss putting this priority first in the midst of the messiness of life. No experience necessary, just come as you are for some coffee and a chance to see what Walking with Purpose is all about!

Nov. 28th (Tuesday) @ 6:00PM Dinner will be served Nov. 29th (Wednesday) @ 1:00PM Lunch will be served

“He is also head of the body, the church; and He is the

beginning, the firstborn from the dead, so that He himself will come to have first place in everything.” (Colossians 1:18)
