What does

Parties for the Necklace support? Redlands Conservancy’s mission is to preserve Redlands’ historic

built environment and conserve its irreplaceable natural and

agricultural environments. The Conservancy’s Emerald Necklace

programs concentrate on the natural and agricultural environments,

including major programs:

1. Trails ~ Redlands Heritage Trails and Trails at 10 Series of

Trail Excursions.

2. Public Outreach and Education ~ Presentations at events and

meetings, exhibits at events, interpretive experiences on the

Conservancy's holdings, Outdoor Ambassador program, Sunday Fun

Days, and Canyon Environments Education Program.

3. Holdings Management ~ Monitoring and managing more than

700 acres of natural open space in permanent conservation. These

lands, especially the San Timoteo Nature Sanctuary and Herngt

'Aki' Preserve in Live Oak Canyon, require management to

guarantee the protection of the lands' conservation values.

4. Land and Easement Acquisition.

5. Outdoor Ambassador Program - Training and supplying

volunteer outdoor docents who "rove" the Emerald Necklace sites

to enhance the users' enjoyment.

6. Redlands Gateway Ranch - Establishing and managing a 12-

acre ranch in Live Oak Canyon for native habitat restoration,

outdoor education, and regional trailhead.

6. And the Emerald Necklace Trail and Scenic Tour, itself!

Developed with the 1987 Park and Open Space Plan, the Emerald

Necklace is a series of culturally or historically significant natural

and agricultural open spaces, now connected by a Trail and Scenic

Route for motorists and bicyclists to enjoy.

STARSHINE AND WINE POP-UP Stars in the night sky stay the same, but the clouds

come and go. This year, our Starshine and Wine parties

will give a nod to the vagaries of the gauzy weather

features and pop-up whenever the stars and the clear

skies align. Our amateur astronomer Jim Sommer will

call the shots, and we'll send out email blasts with two-

weeks' notice. We'll provide some good wines, some

tasty snacks, and some chairs, and invite our guests to

do the same - bring a bottle of tasty wine or beer and

your snack specialty. We have a couple of excellent

dark night-sky viewing spots to choose from. So get

ready for a few spontaneous and happy experiences.

Host: Jim Sommer, Party Crew Guest limit: 40 per party Cost: $20 for guest (no member discount) Pop-Ups available: ? Location: We'll let you know! No advance reservations. Pay at the event .

the art of making wine, a delicious conversion of fruit to

fermented beverage. While guests taste the wines in the

barrel room at Wildwood Oak Winery, they will hear from

the vintner and enjoy carefully paired appetizers. If you like

from various locations around the world and how these beans are

roasted to enhance each varietal's unique flavor. Kevin will also
