Procession/ Entrance Antiphon Vocem iucunditatis annuntiate, et audiatur, [alleluia] annuntiate usque ad extremum terrae: liberavit Dominus populum suum, alleluia, [alleluia]. Proclaim a joyful sound and let it be heard, [alleluia]; proclaim to the ends of the earth: The Lord has freed his people, alleluia, [alleluia].

O peoples, bless the Lord our God, and give heed to the cry of his praise. He has destined my soul for life, and has kept my feet from stumbling. Blessed be the Lord, who did not turn away from my prayer, nor withhold from me his merciful love, alleluia.

I have chosen you from the world, to go and bear fruit; fruit that will last, alleluia.

English Baptism Instructions take place the Saturday (at 10:00am via Zoom) and Tuesday (at 7:00pm in person) before the date of Baptism at Our Lady of Mount Carmel. Parents and Godparents baptizing their children at other parishes but taking the classes here must call to register for the class at least a week before the class. We remind parents and godparents to inform us if they will be unable to attend the pre-Baptismal class they registered for. Private baptisms are not celebrated unless the family has a priest or deacon friend who will perform the ceremony. If you have any questions please call the parish office.

From the Ogle Office Dear Friends and Parishioners: Last week (May 2) I posted in the bulletin my announcement from the previous week (April 25) about the impending transfer of both myself and Father Peter to new assignments as of June 30 after thirteen years in this wonderful parish. Both of us wish to thank you for the many expressions of warm support (often with tears on both sides) since then. Know that your concern is greatly appreciated by both of us. Preparations for some kind of farewell Mass and event are under discussion and will be duly announced when finalized, as we take into account both inclu-sivity and compliance with health precautions as they are in effect by mid to late June. Stay tuned! Next Saturday, May 15, our pastoral year seminarian Brendon Harfmann will be ordained in his home parish of St Matthias in Ridgewood, Queens, at 11 AM, as a transitional deacon for the Brooklyn Diocese. That same day he will preach his first diaconal sermon here in Mount Carmel at the 5 PM Mass, followed by a safely-distanced & ventilated “meet & greet” in the Institute gym. We invite you to pray with and bid farewell to Brendon, in full compliance with safety directives, as he moves on to his dea-con assignment at the parish of St Finbar in Brooklyn. Two weeks later, we will welcome a permanent deacon to our own parish, when Jacob Rodriguez will be ordained at St Joseph Co-Cathedral on Saturday, May 29. He will preach his first diaco-nal sermon the following day at the 12:30 Spanish Mass, fol-lowed by a safely-distanced & ventilated “meet & greet” in the Institute gym. We likewise invite you to pray with and welcome Jacob and his wife Elenita, in full compliance with safety direc-tives. A week later, we will celebrate the ordination to the priest-hood of Deacon Chin Nguyen, on Saturday, June 5, at St Joseph Co-Cathedral, followed by an English –Spanish Mass of Thanks-giving here at 5 PM the same day, followed by a safely-distanced & ventilated First Blessing in the Institute gym. Again, we invite you to pray with and bid farewell to Father Chin, in full compli-ance with safety directives, as he moves on to his first priestly assignment, yet to be announced at the end of the ordination Mass. As you can see from these celebrations, we have been in so many ways blessed by these vocations which have been nour-ished in our parish. Let us work and pray that many more will actually be born here. I am grateful to our parish Vocation Com-mittee which ha been actively engaged with our religious ed program and with the diocese in sending young people to vari-ous activities and events promoting both mission-mindedness and vocations in particular. Let us continue to work and pray for that. Finally, I am happy to announce that the parish pilgrimage to the passion play in Oberammergau, Germany, has been re-scheduled for July 2022, having been postponed from July 2020 due to the pandemic. It’s not too late to join the group I’ll be leading there at that time. Fliers and brochures are available at the church doors. More to come….
