PARISH MISSION STATEMENT We, the parishioners of Holy Innocents Parish, rooted in and flowing from a deep love of God and neighbor, and nourished by the Eucharist, pledge to live, proclaim, and give witness to the Gospel of Jesus. Holy Innocents Parish, a multi-cultural community of communities, through the richness of our faith and the diversity of our gifts, is committed to making Jesus’ vision, “that all may be one” a reality.

PARISH REGISTRATION We warmly welcome all who have recently moved into our parish neighborhood. We invite you to contact the parish in order to register and receive information about our Church. If you are not receiving mailings from the parish, you are probably not registered yet. Please notify the rectory if you changed your address, phone number, or if you are moving from the parish. Thank you.

BAPTISM The Sacrament of Baptism is celebrated at 1:30 PM on the Second Sunday of the month in Spanish and the Third Sunday of the month in English. Parents need to contact the rectory to set up an appointment to make arrangements for the baptism of their child and register for the baptismal class which is held the First Tuesday of each month in Spanish and the Second Tuesday of each month in English. Baptisms in Vietnamese can be arranged by contacting Fr. Vincent.

MATRIMONY Couples planning to be married should contact one of the priests at their earliest convenience but no less than six months before the wedding.

CARE OF THE SICK Please notify the rectory when someone is seriously ill or in the hospital. We will put them on the prayer list. Arrangements can be made for visits and reception of the sacraments.

EL BAUTISMO El sacramento del Bautismo es celebrado a la 1:30 PM cada Segundo domingo del mes en español y cada tercer domingo del mes en Inglés. Los padres del niño/a deben pedir una cita con la rectoría para ponerse de acuerdo con requisitos para el bautismo y también inscribirse para la charla pre bautismal que se lleva acabo cada primer martes del mes en español y cada segundo martes del mes en ingles. Los bautismos en vietnamita pueden ser arreglados con el Padre Vicente.

MATRIMONIO Parejas planeando en casarse deben comunicarse con uno de los sacerdotes de la parroquia lo mas pronto possible, no menos de 6 meses antes de la boda.

CUIDADO A LOS ENFERMOS Por favor notifique a la rectoria cuando se encuentre alguien criticamente emfermo o en el hospital. Los pondremos en la lista de oracion en la misa. Se puede pedir visitas en la casa y hospital y tambien la recepcion de los dacramentos. BÍ TÍCH RỬA TỘI Bí Tích Rửa Tội được cử hành lúc 01:30 chiều vào Chúa Nhật thứ hai trong tháng cho người Tây Ban Nha. Chúa Nhật thứ ba trong tháng cho người Mỹ. Bố Mẹ và Cha Mẹ đỡ đầu của các Em phải đến văn phòng Nhà Xứ làm hẹn, điền đơn và ghi danh theo học lớp Giáo Lý. Tối Thứ Ba thuộc tuần thứ nhất trong tháng, lớp Giáo Lý dành cho người Tây Ban Nha. Tối Thứ Ba thuộc tuần thứ hai trong tháng, lớp Giáo Lý dành cho người Mỹ. A WORD FROM OUR PASTOR “My grace is sufficient for you,

for power is made perfect in weakness.” 2 Corinthians 12:9

Dear Friends, The above Scripture passage got me ordained a priest. Without being overly dramatic, I, like Saint Paul, had a thorn in the flesh that I had asked God to remove. As Paul begged three times, I think I begged God 33 times. The thorn was anxiety and it would not leave me. I prayed, I exercised, I received spiritual guidance, but eventually I had to visit a psychologist to remove this thorn from my side. I thought maybe God was trying to tell me to consider another vocation. I was a deacon in my last year of seminary formation. Besides my course work and preparing for my comprehensive exams, as a deacon, I had many responsibilities in the seminary and the parish. With only six months before ordination, it all became overwhelming two weeks before Christmas and I thought I was going to have a nervous breakdown or something. I managed to finish the semester and with my supportive family and very good friends, I finished the year and was ordained on time. Yes, God’s grace was enough for me. I share this story because as I heard once in a homily, “Whatever is most personal, is most universal.” Yes, we all have “thorns in our flesh.” It could be anxiety, it could be an addiction, it could be any problem that keeps you up at night. And we cry out to God, “Please take this thorn from my flesh.” Eventually, we hear those words that God spoke to Saint Paul and myself, “My grace is sufficient for you…” And then we pray in response: “Lord, I am content with weakness, insults, hardships, persecutions, and constraints, for the sake of Christ; for when I am weak, then I am strong.” And after a while, and for some, after a lifetime, we realize that God’s grace is enough for us. But some folks never do. They think they can manage without the grace of God. They can do it all on their own. But sadly, they never do. And that is why Pope Francis addresses this mentality in his latest papal letter, “Rejoice and Be Glad.” In this beautiful letter Pope Francis reminds us that each one of us is called to holiness, called to be saints. Before he demonstrates a pathway to holiness in the beatitudes, spoken by Jesus on the Sermon on the Mount, the Holy Father addresses two ancient heresies that have never really been eradicated. They are Gnosticism and Pelagianism. These are two big church words not to be covered in a paragraph or two. I’ll leave Gnosticism aside and say a word about Pelagianism. This fifth century heresy basically says I can do all things myself. The grace of God is not necessary for me to live a good and holy life. But as Pope Francis reminds us: “The Church has repeatedly taught that we are justified not by our works or efforts, but by the grace of the Lord, who always takes the initiative.” Once we accept this premis, we have overcome this heresy. We acknowledge the need for God’s grace, and we are on our way to removing that thorn from the flesh. My friends, I would encourage you to read the Holy Father’s entire letter. He writes simply and clearly. Becoming a saint is a task of a lifetime. Rejoice and Be Glad with our Holy Father and you have taken a very big step toward that goal. Love and prayers, Fr. Queridos amigos, El pasaje de las Escrituras anterior me ordenó sacerdote. Sin ser demasiado dramático, yo, como San Pablo, tenía una espina en la carne que le había pedido a Dios que quitara. Como Paul rogó tres veces, creo que le rogué a Dios 33 veces. La espina era ansiedad y no me dejaba. Oré, ejercité, recibí orientación espiritual, pero finalmente tuve que visitar a un psicólogo para quitar esta espina de mi costado. Pensé que tal vez Dios estaba tratando de decirme que considerara otra vocación. Fui diácono en mi último año de formación en seminario. Además de mi trabajo de curso y preparación para mis exámenes integrales, como diácono, tenía muchas responsabilidades en el seminario y la parroquia. Con solo seis meses antes de la ordenación, todo se volvió abrumador dos semanas antes de Navidad y pensé que iba a tener un ataque de nervios o algo así. Logré terminar el semestre y con mi familia de apoyo y muy buenos amigos, terminé el año y fui ordenada a tiempo. Sí, la gracia de Dios fue suficiente para mí. Comparto esta historia porque, como escuché una vez en una homilía, "Lo que es más personal, es lo más universal". Sí, todos tenemos "espinas en la carne". Podría ser ansiedad, podría ser una adicción, podría ser cualquier problema que te mantiene despierto por la noche. Y clamamos a Dios: "Por favor quita este aguijón de mi carne". Eventualmente, escuchamos esas palabras que Dios habló a San Pablo y a mí mismo, “Te basta mi gracia ..." Y luego oramos en respuesta: “Por eso me alegro de las debilidades, los insultos, las necesidades, las persecuciones y las dificultades que sufro por Cristo, porque cuando soy más débil, soy más fuerte. "

Y después de un tiempo, y para algunos, después de toda una vida, nos damos cuenta de que la gracia de Dios es suficiente para nosotros. Pero algunas personas nunca lo hacen. Creen que pueden arreglárselas sin la gracia de Dios. Pueden hacerlo todo por su cuenta. Pero lamentablemente, nunca lo hacen. Y es por eso que el Papa Francisco aborda esta mentalidad en su última carta papal, "Regocíjate y sé alegre". En esta hermosa carta, el Papa Francisco nos recuerda que cada uno de nosotros está llamado a la santidad, llamados a ser santos. Antes de demostrar un camino hacia la santidad en las bienaventuranzas, pronunciadas por Jesús en el Sermón del Monte, el Santo Padre se dirige a dos antiguas herejías que nunca han sido realmente erradicadas. Ellos son Gnosticismo y Pelagianismo. Estas son dos grandes palabras de la iglesia que no deben cubrirse en un párrafo o dos. Dejaré de lado el gnosticismo y hablaré sobre pelagianismo. Esta herejía del siglo v básicamente dice que puedo hacer todo yo mismo. La gracia de Dios no es necesaria para mí para vivir una vida buena y santa. Pero como el Papa Francisco nos recuerda:

"La Iglesia ha enseñado repetidamente que no somos justificados por nuestras obras o esfuerzos, sino por la gracia del Señor, que siempre toma la iniciativa". Una vez que aceptamos esta premisa, hemos superado esta herejía. Reconocemos la necesidad de la gracia de Dios, y estamos en camino de eliminar esa espina de la carne. Mis amigos, los animo a que lean la carta completa del Santo Padre. Él escribe simple y claramente. Convertirse en un santo es una tarea de su vida. Regocíjate y sé alegre con nuestro Santo Padre y has dado un gran paso hacia ese objetivo. Amor y oraciones, P. Tomas Higgins

COLECCIóN DE COMIDA es el tercer Domingo de mes. Estamos agradecidos por su generosidad n donar comida no perecedera.

Bautismo de los Niños Si quiere bautizar a un niño, hay que llamar a la rectoría al 215-743-2600 para hacer una cita con un sacerdote para arreglar los detalles del bautismo. No se puede ir a la clase pre-bautismal sin haberse reunido con el sacerdote primero. También, para bautizar en los Santos Inocentes hay que estar registrado aquí. Se puede hacer una cita para registrarse, o se puede registrar cuando venga para hablar del bautismo. Finalmente, cuando está escogiendo a sus padrinos, tenga en cuenta que la responsabilidad principal de un padrino es dar buen ejemplo al ahijado de lo que es vivir bien la fe católica. Por eso, para ser padrino, hay que haber recibido todos los sacramentos (bautismo, confirmación, comunión), estar registrado y participando en la iglesia (en esta parroquia u otra), y si es casado, ser casado por la Iglesia. Gracias por su atención en estos asuntos. Que Dios le brinde muchas bendiciones a su familia.

Fuerza y Debilidad Todos honran a un profeta, menos los de su tierra, sus parientes y los de su casa”. En su pueblo, Jesús vio que quienes lo conocían no creían en él ni en sus obras. Se admiraba de que no tuvieran fe y encontró fuerza en esa debilidad. Nuestra tarea es averiguar lo que nos hace frágiles y encontrar la fuerza en el Señor. Después podremos profetizar: decir la verdad sobre la realidad y hablar

A un profeta se le otorga honor, pero no en su casa ni en su propia ciudad o entre sus parientes. Con frecuencia vamos a nuestras comunidades, parroquias, familias o lugares de trabajo llevando un mensaje de cambio o de enseñanza. A veces notamos no sólo un rechazo al cambio o la enseñanza, sino a nosotros mismos. Se ponen en duda nuestras credenciales y hasta la fuente de autoridad de Cristo mismo. En estos casos, se puede buscar fuerza en la humildad. Por medio de la oración podemos dominar

nuestras propias debilidades y Cristo llenará lo que haga falta en nosotros. Podremos ser insultados, criticados y hasta perseguidos; pero todo lo podemos sobrellevar por Cristo, cuyo poder trabaja por medio de nosotros.

BÀI ĐỌC I: Ed 2, 2-5

"Đây là nhà phản loạn, và họ sẽ biết rằng giữa họ vẫn có một tiên tri".

Trích sách Tiên tri Êdêkiel.

Trong những ngày ấy, sau khi nói với tôi, Thần Linh nhập vào tôi, và đỡ tôi đứng dậy. Tôi nghe Người nói với

tôi rằng: "Hỡi con người, Ta sai ngươi đến với con cái

Israel, đến với dân nổi loạn phản nghịch Ta, chúng và cha ông chúng vi phạm giao ước của Ta cho đến ngày

nay. Ta sai ngươi đến để nói với những con cái dầy mặt cứng lòng rằng: 'Chúa là Thiên Chúa phán như vậy'.

Hoặc chúng nghe, hoặc chúng không nghe, vì đây là

bọn phản loạn, và chúng sẽ biết rằng giữa chúng có một tiên tri".

Đó là lời Chúa.

ĐÁP CA: Tv 122, 1-2a. 2bcd. 3-4

Đáp: Mắt chúng con nhìn vào Chúa, cho tới khi

Người thương xót chúng con (c. 2cd).

Xướng: 1) Con ngước mắt nhìn lên Chúa, Ngài ngự trị ở cõi cao xanh. Kìa, như mắt những người nam tôi tớ, nhìn

vào tay các vị chủ ông. - Đáp.

2) Như mắt của những người tỳ nữ, nhìn vào tay các vị chủ bà, mắt chúng tôi cũng nhìn vào Chúa, là Thiên

Chúa của chúng tôi như thế, cho tới khi Người thương xót chúng tôi. - Đáp.

3) Nguyện xót thương, lạy Chúa, nguyện xót thương, vì

chúng con đã bị khinh dể ê chề quá đỗi! Linh hồn chúng con thật là no ngấy lời chê cười của tụi giàu sang, nỗi

miệt thị của lũ kiêu căng. - Đáp.

BÀI ĐỌC II: 2 Cr 12, 7-10

"Tôi rất vui sướng khoe mình về những sự yếu hèn của tôi, để sức mạnh của Đức Kitô ngự trong

tôi".Trích thư thứ hai của Thánh Phaolô Tông đồ gửi tín hữu Côrintô.

Anh em thân mến, để những mạc khải cao siêu không làm cho tôi tự cao tự đại, thì một cái dằm đâm vào thịt

tôi, một thần sứ của Satan vả mặt tôi. Vì thế đã ba lần tôi van nài Chúa, để nó rời khỏi tôi. Nhưng Người phán

với tôi rằng: "Ơn Ta đủ cho ngươi, vì sức mạnh của Ta được tỏ bày trong sự yếu đuối". Vậy tôi rất vui sướng

khoe mình về những sự yếu hèn của tôi, để sức mạnh

của Đức Kitô ngự trong tôi. Vì thế, tôi vui thoả trong sự yếu hèn của tôi, trong sự lăng nhục, quẫn bách, bắt bớ

và khốn khó vì Đức Kitô: vì khi tôi yếu đuối, chính là lúc tôi mạnh mẽ. Đó là lời Chúa.

ALLELUIA: 1 Pr 1, 25 Alleluia, alleluia! - Lời Chúa tồn tại muôn đời, đó

là lời Tin Mừng đã rao giảng cho anh em. - Alleluia.

PHÚC ÂM: Mc 6, 1-6 "Không một tiên tri nào mà không bị khinh bỉ ở

quê hương".

Tin Mừng Chúa Giêsu Kitô theo Thánh Marcô.

Khi ấy, Chúa Giêsu trở về quê nhà và các môn đệ cùng

theo Người. Đến ngày Sabbat, Người vào giảng trong

hội đường, và nhiều thính giả sửng sốt về giáo lý của Người, nên nói rằng: "Bởi đâu ông này được như vậy?

Sao ông được khôn ngoan như vậy? Bởi đâu tay Người làm được những sự lạ thể ấy? Ông này chẳng phải bác

thợ mộc con bà Maria, anh em với Giacôbê, Giuse, Giuđa

và Simon sao? Chị em ông không ở với chúng ta đây sao?" Và họ vấp phạm vì Người.

Giêsu liền bảo họ: "Không một tiên tri nào mà không bị

khinh bỉ ở quê hương, gia đình họ hàng mình". Ở đó Người không làm phép lạ nào được, ngoại trừ đặt tay

chữa vài bệnh nhân, và Người ngạc nhiên vì họ cứng

lòng tin. Người đi rảo qua các làng chung quanh mà giảng dạy. Đó là lời Chúa .

THỰC PHẨM GIÚP ĐỠ CHO NGƯỜI NGHÈO: Những ai muốn giúp đỡ thực phẩm cho người nghèo thì xin đưa thực phẩm (khô hay đông lạnh) vào Nhà Thờ mỗi Chúa Nhật thuộc tuần thứ ba trong tháng, trước hoặc sau Thánh Lễ.
