Welcome Parents Welcome to the City of Tracy Youth Hoops program. We are pleased that you have chosen to allow your child to participate. City staff, coaches, and officials are excited to offer our seventh season of exciting youth basketball to our community. This recreational basketball program has become one of our largest youth programs in terms of participation and based on coach and parent surveys, one that a vast majority are pleased with. Last season all boy’s and coed divisions filled early. We hope that this program is a positive, fun experience for your child, as it has been for those who have participated the past four seasons. Please join us in our efforts to make the City of Tracy Youth Hoops as enjoyable as possible for all our participants. Skills Day Players must attend our Player’s Skills Day (see back cover for date/times/location) to enable coaches in the league to evaluate the skills of all players. Doing so, permits us to establish teams of equal ability. Additionally, at our Skills Day, each player will be able to verify uniform sizes that have been selected during registration. League Philosophy We have one major goal that all parents are urged to keep in mind. That goal is to make kids want to play again next season. If you think about it, that nearly covers every conceivable question. Sportsmanship All players are expected to play within the bounds of good sportsmanship. That basically means respecting the effort and hard work of coaches, officials, and league administrators. The bleachers are a place where parents are urged to cheer for their team wildly. Derogatory comments toward players will never be allowed. Fans are encouraged to become part of the flow of a game, it makes it more fun for everyone!! Disagreeing with an officials call from the bleachers, in good taste, is part of the game, and our officials know it. Making personal comments, or approaching an official personally with a complaint will not be tolerated and could lead to ejection. Complaints or comments should be directed to City staff during normal business hours.

HAVE A FUN AND ENJOYABLE SEASON

League Information Teams will practice one day per week, Monday through Friday. Each child is guaranteed to play at least one half of each game. This is a league rule which covers every game and every division. All coaches are made aware of this rule and are required to abide by it. If you believe your child is not playing half of each game, please approach the coach first, and then the gym manager, or call the City office at 831-6200 for further assistance. Coaches do have the authority to sit players for the following reasons, provided they have notified the parent and gym manager before the game in question: 1. Unexcused missed practice. 2. Unexcused missed games. 3. Disrespect of coach or other players. 4. Any valid reason which is approved by a league administrator or

gym manager before the contest. Scorekeepers The City of Tracy Youth Hoops is dedicated to keeping our registration fees reasonable. One method to keep these low fees is by asking (requiring) each team to provide a volunteer scorekeeper for each game. This reduces costs and keeps fees low. If you are interested, please let your child’s coach know. We need your help! Family/Friends On The Same Team If a player would like to be on the same team as another sibling, the parents of the children must submit such a request in writing or via email to the City of Tracy Recreation Division Department. If two friends would like to play on the same team, parents of both children must submit such a request in writing or via email to the Department. To maintain the competitive balance of the teams, the City of Tracy may not be able to accommodate all of these requests. All requests must be made by October 24th, 2014. Schedules/Standings/Game Stories Once completed, all league schedules are available on the City’s website. Additionally, each week, staff updates league standings and writes stories on all league games. These stories are submitted to the local newspaper (which may or may not be published) and posted on the City’s website. To view these items, go to:
