TABLE OF CONTENTS

THE 2015-2016 VNC BOARD OF DIRECTORS WELCOMES YOU!

June 1 marks the beginning of the New Fiscal Year for Venice Newcomers Club. This year will bring more new friends, new ideas, new events and new adventures. The only thing you have to do is join in on the fun. There are many events per year, so there is always something for everyone. Getting involved and trying new things is the key for getting the most out of our club. The new VNC Board would like to offer some suggestions for the month of June:

Invite someone you just met out to lunch or dinner. We all have to eat and what a great way to get to know someone better and to learn about each other.

Try a new event. Make June the month that you sign up for something you ordinarily wouldn’t do.

Learn about the VNC website. There is more than just the newsletter. Learn how to find members, upload your member photo and update your information if needed.

The last challenge is to appreciate the beauty that is all around us and just have fun. Life in Venice truly is paradise and your involvement in VNC will only make it better. Have a great year!

HELLO FROM JOHN FARLEY [2015-2016 VNC Activity Co-Chair]

Effective June 1st Charleen Garman and I will be your new Activity Co-Chairs. We will attempt to do the job that Joan Tramontano has been doing so well for the last two years. Joan has devoted many hours a day to VNC and has done a tremendous job. I want to thank her for all that she has done to help VNC run smoothly and efficiently as we grew from approximately 200 hundred to almost 500 members.

My wife Jane and I have been in VNC for two years. We were the Coordinators for Mexican Train the first year. Last year I was an Activity Director and Jane was with the

Membership Committee.

VNC currently offers about 30 monthly activities along with a number of one time or annual Special Events. We look forward to adding even more activities as the club continues to grow. We encourage members to offer suggestions for any new activities they may want to see.

I look forward to the coming year here in Paradise and hope to meet everyone at our various activities.

“DINING IN” IS ON VACATION TILL SEPTEMBER

RESERVATIONS FOR THE 2015-16 ARE STARTING NOW!!

DON'T MISS OUT ON THIS WONDERFUL MORE IN-DEPTH WAY TO MAKE NEW FRIENDS!!

Dining In offers a fantastic opportunity to get acquainted with other members and enjoy a meal together in members' homes. Dinner groups consist of 7-8 people. The host chooses and prepares the entrée and guests bring the appetizer, salad and dessert.

Members are rotated with others for each dinner. Each household hosts once a year. Since these are small groups even those small tables can participate. If you don’t have a table large enough for 8 – use two card tables. Everyone who hosts is guaranteed a place at the table for each of the four dinners held during the year.

However, if you wish to be an occasional participant, you may request to have your name placed on a substitute list. Substitutes will not host but will join a group when needed and bring one of three courses: appetizer, salad or dessert.

* *A Get Acquainted Gathering for all those who sign up will be held in September to kick off the season ** [Details to follow in summer newsletters]

Life on the Board is like a Box of Chocolate....You Never Know What You are Going to Get!

[Written by Meri-Beth Banks in Sweet Appreciation to the 2014-2015 VNC Board of Directors]

Sometimes it's a "Snickers" because we have had lots of laughs. Or maybe a "Zero" because that's how many more times we wanted to talk about the bylaws! It may be "M&Ms" because our new Members Meetings rock! We have all had an occasional "Whatchamacallit" because we couldn't remember what we were saying……..or doing! There were a few PayDays when we paid for things we didn't want to and there were some of us who drifted off to the planet Mars Bar during the Board meetings. Fortunately, we only had to deal with a few Nutrageous moments and at the end of the day, it was all Hugs and Kisses!

Thanks for a great year!
