Research Interests • In-situ Characterization of Material Properties: High temperature oxidation, phase

transformation, flash sintering, thermal properties (Cp, expansion, conductivity), mechanical properties, ionic conductivity, osteoinduction, solubility, recrystallization.

• Atomic-Structure and Property Relations in Materials: Phase stability, thermal expansion anisotropy, ion-conduction, phase transformation, recrystallization.

• Processing of Advanced Ceramics and Composites: Environmental barrier coatings (EBCs), ultra high temperature ceramics (UHTC), actuators, proton-conducting solid oxide fuel cells, battery electrodes, field assisted sintering, ceramic matrix composites, biotemplated bioceramics, ceramic membranes, high entropy materials, cermets.

• Sustainable and Environmentally Green Materials and Solutions: Geopolymers, precious metal recovery, ceramic membranes for ultra/nanofiltration of produced water, novel electrodes for electrocoagulation of high salinity flow back water, adsorbents for poultry and livestock waste treatment to prevent groundwater contamination.

• Instrumentation Development: For in-situ studies of materials by X-ray diffraction, X-ray total scattering, and Optical and X-ray imaging methods (specifically Digital Image Correlation (DIC), X-ray microcomputed Tomography (µCT), and X-ray Diffraction Contrast Tomography (DCT)).
