Monocoque automotive body using a double curved

    surface:

    Steps:

    1) I started by inserting the blue-prints of a car so that I could take them as areference. First I made a line of 4323 mm (length of the car) in sketcher in Sideview.

    2) Then I extruded the line along its height (1442 mm).

    3) I did the same for all the views.

    4) I applied materials in all the planes and changed the material properties asfollows. Inserted the respective orthographic views in the respective planes.

    5) I used the 3D-curve command to trace the lines in the side of the car from thepicture in the right view.

    6) I then went to top view and moved the curves so that it coincided with theirrespective counterpart in the picture.

    7) I did the same for other lines as well and then joined created a surface enclosed bythese lines using the fill command.

    8) I did the same for other lines as well and then created surfaces between themusing fill command.

    9) I then started to draw the profile of the window.

10)I again aligned the lines as in the picture from the top view.

11)I then traced the hood of the car and made a surface enclosed by the curves.

12)Then I started to sketch the back view of the car.

13)Likewise I completed the surfacing of the side view of the vehicle.

14)I completed the surfacing of the back view of the car.

15)Then I moved on to make the front part of the vehicle.

16)After finally finishing to sketch the half of the car, I joined all the surfaces usingthe join command.

17)Then I used the symmetry definition to symmetry the joined surface (half of thecar) with respect to the ZX plane to create the other half.

18)I then joined both the halves of the vehicle.

19)Then I applied Aluminum as the material to the vehicle.

20)And finally my vehicle looked as shown below.
