Copos de gorriones ahondan el horizonte. El ocaso es una cóncava superficie llena de vuelos; una veladura de geometrías y cuidadosos colores hecha de pura serenidad material. Los pájaros se deslizan en cámara lenta y trazan sus testimonios de claro sonido y de gracia suspensa. Bajo las flores y las ramas de abril, el aire se satura de colibríes. La primavera es una antigua página donde las golondrinas, aves instantáneas, dejan - como vio el poeta - su « escritura hebrea ». « Dríada de los bosques » le dijo Keats al ruiseñor de voz eterna. Los pájaros son mínimos héroes de la naturaleza épica, ardientes divinidades de finos nervios y grandiosa curiosidad. Majestad y energía los definen. Míralos cruzar el cielo, dominar el jardín o « fatigar la selva ». Sílabas de la atmósfera, chispazos en la blancura del silencio. Interroga a los pájaros como lo harías con un maestro zen. Ellos responderán.
