Pope Francis’ Corner . . . “We cannot tolerate or turn a blind eye to rac-ism and exclusion in any form. At the same time, we have to recognize that violence is self-destructive and self-defeating. Nothing is gained by violence and so much is lost. Let us pray for reconciliation and peace. “Let us learn from Abraham to pray with faith: listening, walking, engaging in dialogue to the point of argument, but always willing to accept God's word and to put it into practice.” “The Heart of Christ is so great it wants to welcome us all into the revolution of tenderness.” “The feast of the #MostHolyTrinity invites us to let our-selves be fascinated by God’s beauty, goodness and inexhaustible truth. He is humble, near, who became flesh in order to enter into our his-tory, so that every man and woman may en-counter Him and have eternal life.” “There are two Christian responses to escape the spiral of violence: prayer and the gift of self.” Twitter: 6/3,6/3,6/5,6/7,6/9/20

PPASTOR’S CORNER . . . Jesus Come To Us, Jesus Be With Us - How wonderful it is that God comes to us, and that He is with us in the Holy Eucharist!!! Today we celebrate Corpus Christi, the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ. What makes us different from all other Christians (besides the Orthodox) is this gift, this Sacra-ment given to His Church by Jesus Himself. As Biblical Scholar Jeff Cavins teaches when you hear Jesus say, “Amen, Amen…” we are to pay attention especially to those words. "Amen, amen, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you do not have life within you. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him on the last day.” Jesus goes on to proclaim He is not speaking symbolically, “For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink.” Jesus wants us to have life within us, He wants to dwell within us through the Eucharist so that we will have eternal life with Him. This beautiful passage from John 6 comes from the section called The Bread of Life Discourse. It is beauti-ful because it fulfills Jesus promise before His Ascension to the Father, “And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age” (Matthew 28:20). Those who heard Jesus proclaim these words in the Bread of Life Discourse, the Jewish crowd, disciples and His Apostles, did not under-stand His words. However, there were two dif-ferent responses, one marked by faith in Jesus, the other by lack of faith. “As a result of this, many of his disciples returned to their former way of life and no longer accompanied him. Je-sus then said to the Twelve, “Do you also want to leave?” Simon Peter answered him, “Master, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. We have come to believe and are convinced that you are the Holy One of God.”” Once again, the Twelve Apostles didn’t under-stand, but because of their faith in Jesus they re-mained. For us as followers of Jesus today, as Catholics may not always understand Jesus’ words. What is our response? Is it in faith? When “we have come to believe and are con-vinced…” of who Jesus really is and place our faith/trust in His words, the Word of God/the Scriptures becomes alive and we are able to then understand more fully what Jesus was proclaim-

ing. This is Jesus, who comes to us in the ap-pearance and taste of bread and wine, who comes to us and is with us Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity in the Holy Eucharist!!! We are truly blessed to be able to receive Him into our bodies and to adore Him!!! Our time away from the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass during the closing of public Masses I hope has made all of us real-ize even more fully what a precious gift Holy Communion is, that we have as Catholics. For Jesus proclaims, “For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink,” and we are blessed to be able to receive and adore Him!!! So let us come to the altar to adore and receive Jesus!!! Con-tinued prayers are being lifted up for you and your loved ones!!! You can contact me by calling the Rectory at x11 or by e-mail at: [email protected]. Follow me on Twitter: @frjeffstecz. In Christ, Father Jeff Pro-Life Corner . . . “In November 2018 the Catholic bishops of the United States released a Pastoral Letter Against Racism called, Open Wide Our Hearts. The letter is a powerful invitation for all the people of God to “face courageously the vice of racism, . . . reach out generously to the victims of this evil, to assist the conversion needed in those who still harbor racism, and to begin to change policies and struc-tures that allow racism to persist.” At usccb.org/racism, you can read the entire letter, get new re-sources and find ideas for how we can respond.” Usccb.org Corpus Christi Procession Join us this Sunday, June 14 for our Annual Cor-pus Christi Procession following the 12 Noon Mass. We ask that you maintain social distanc-ing as we process and at the 4 stations. Eucharistic Adoration Come let us adore Jesus in the Blessed Sacra-ment on Fridays in the Church following the 8 AM Mass until Benediction at 7 PM.

Religious Education (PREP) at St. Agnes

Registration for 2020-21 is NOW OPEN!

St. Agnes parish offers a variety of Religious Education opportunities to meet the needs of our young people. Our weekly evening PREP classes are offered for children in Levels 1-7 as well as for any child 17 and under who is in need of Sacramental preparation. PREP classes are offered on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm in the Religious Education Center. Our classes typically run from September through early May. We have a trained staff of Catechists and Assistant Catechists who teach the Faith to our young people. As stated in our handbook, the Religious Education Program of Saint Agnes Parish func-tions under a philosophy which has the beauty and traditions of the Catholic Faith both as its heritage and its springboard into the realms of religious growth and educational excellence. We wish to participate in the transmission of Christian values and encourage the development of a vibrant faith in each child through the implementation of the St. Agnes Parish Mission Statement. St. Agnes PREP aims to lead the children of our parish into a relationship with God through teaching, prayer, evangelization and sacramental preparation. Our goal is to pro-vide a sound religious education to children of all abilities by way of well-trained volun-teer catechists and support staff. We strive to have a solid working relationship with our Pastor and parish staff, as well. Our PREP program provides a safe and supportive envi-ronment, as per the guidelines of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, and we have on-going and effective communication between parish, staff, and home. Please visit our website at www.stagnesprep.org for more information about our fine ministry. Here you will find registration information, a full calendar, information on Sacramental preparation, a quarterly newsletter and our handbook. Visit https://forms.parishgiving.org/form-4626634 to register online!

St. Agnes’ 3 Pastoral Priorities St. Agnes parish and its parishioners, staff, volunteers, deacons and priest(s) are called to be: 1. AA Welcoming Parish that are 2. IIn-spired by the Holy Spirit through the Bible (Sacred Scriptures) and who are called to 3. Form Disciples of Jesus Christ that live and share their Catholic faith. (The above should guide and direct all that we do as a parish). FOOD FROM HEAVEN God sustained the people of Israel for forty years in the desert with manna sent down from heaven, and Moses doesn’t want them to forget it. God brought forth water from stone for them to drink, and Moses doesn’t want them to forget this, either. And Moses tells them—twice—that the food that God sent was a food that neither they nor their ancestors before them had ever experienced before. Jesus too speaks of food come down from heaven, food that the Jewish people had never experienced before. Recalling the manna in the desert, Jesus doesn’t want them to forget it either, explaining that he is the food and drink of eternal life. And Paul reiterates to the Corinthians and to all of us that in the bread and in the cup, we share in the body and blood of Christ.
