Now a lot of folks may wonder why we’re changing the name from the Beaver County Festival of Trees to the Beaver County Christmas Extravaganza. The Festival of Trees has had a long successful run but it needs some new ideas. We need things that make people want to keep coming back every year with events that thrill and please both youngsters and adults. We will be adding something new every yearas well as upgrading the existing displays and activi-ties. We actually have four separate parts that make up the event. Inside the lodge, the main feature is the tree displays with fabulous artistic creations. Next, we have several activities such as live entertainment, the railroad train display, Santa Land, Gift Shop, North Pole Cafe, and Speciality Vendors. Our biggest effort is the outdoor activities. We just got started on an electronic light show at the front of the lodge and plan on adding music this year. The walk-through area features a traditional light show along with the newest concept of themed islands. These are based on various themes like Pea-nuts and the Island of Misfit Toys. It is truly a Christ-mas Wonderland event with something for everyone. Our goal is to create the most unique Christmas Event in the Tri-State Area. We will be adding some-thing new every year as we continue to grow. We are looking for more volunteers from planning, set-up, tear down and operating the Event. We are also looking for a creative decorator and those with new ideas. If you would like to be a part of the Beaver County Christmas Extravaganza, call us at 724-847-0900 orfollow us on Facebook.

Walk ThroughlighT shoW

As part of our outdoor events, we have begun to add to the walk through light show within the Theme Park area. These displays are similar to the type used in the drive through light shows except they are smaller in size and visitors may walk through the fenced in Park. Each of these displays are purchased solely through individual sponsorships. They are life-time sponsors. If you, your company or organization are interested, please call 724-847-0900 for more details.

The two previous years, we have developed and added three new island theme displays. Each display consists of 340 square feet of characters, trees and lights that reference a specific story. This year we con-structed the comic strip Peanuts and Royal Cinderella Christmas. This past year, we built the Island of Misfit Toys. These Islands are funded solely through 5 year sponsorships. The plan is to be able to upgrade each year to increase their creativity. If you, your company or organization are interested, please call 724-847-0900 for more details.

CHILDREN AND YOUTH SERVICES ADVISORY BOARD The Children and Youth Services Advisory Board receives 50% of the proceeds for a number of worthy purposes. Funds are used to assist the CYS Agency to help children in foster care with financial assistance for items the agency may not be able to provide. Some of these items are summer camps, coats, shoes, glasses, scholarships, and other personal needed items on an individual basis

U.S. SARR CORPS U.S. SARR Corps has participated in over 350 miss-ing person missions. It is an all volunteer profession-ally trained search, rescue and recovery organiza-tion headquartered in Beaver Falls which operates throughout the Tri-State area. It has been in existence for over 45 years, providing resources for the recov-ery of missing persons. These services are provided in conjunction with law enforcement agencies free of charge. The unit has been responsible for the physi-cal operations/management of the festival for the past 8 years. The unit receives the remaining 50% of the proceeds.

The electronic light show is our newest effort to add more thrills and excitement to the Christmas Extravaganza. Our initial investment for electronics, lights and cables amounted to over $3,000. We will be making additional expansions this year. This will include wireless equipment that will enable the show to spread out around the entire lodge and the accom-panying fields with special Christmas music.

The Elves are the children of Gryla and Leppaludi, their father and mother. Some people say that there are 13 elves, some say 9, and some say 6. They are very clever and help Father Christmas to design the toys that the children and grown-ups order by post, e-mail or texts. We know at least 6 of the duties they have, including looking after the reindeer. Here they are with their Westernized names. BUSHY EVERGREEN is the inventor of the magic toy-making machine. SHINNY UPATREE is Father Christmas’s (Santa) oldest friend and co-founder of the secret village in Lapland. WUNORSE OPENSLAE designed Father Christmas’s sleigh and maintains it for top performance. (It is be-lieved that the reindeer speeds faster than Christmas tree lights.) He also cares for the reindeer. PEPPER MINSTIX is the guardian of the secret of the location of Father Christmas’s village. SUGARPLUM MARY is the Head of the Sweet Treats, and assistant to Father Christmas’s wife, Mrs. Claus, also known as Mary Christmas. ALABASTER SNOWBALL is very important. He is the Administrator of the Naughty & Nice List.

This is the 29th anniversary of this Christmas Sea-son charitable fundraiser held at Bradys Run Park. I would like to remind everyone the purpose of this event is to raise funds for two very importantorganizations.
