Overview• Pratt & Whitney began production of aerospace engineparts at its North Berwick plant in September 1979. Theplant is 1 million square feet, the largest manufacturing
facility in Maine under one roof
• North Berwick manufactures five classes of parts - high and lowcompressor stators, outer air seals, low pressure turbine blades,brush seals and bearing compartments
• The site produces modules that are used in the final assemblyof the PurePower® engine
• North Berwick uses the latest in advanced manufacturing tools toproduce engine modules including Pratt & Whitney's innovativehorizontal assembly system
• North Berwick supports the full lifecycle of its products fromdesign and development, to production, to assembly, to overhauland repair
• Pratt & Whitney is a leading employer in the state of Maine withapproximately 1,700 employees
• The facility was named a recipient of IndustryWeek’s 2015 NorthAmerica Best Plants Award
• Pratt & Whitney helps support educational institutions such asYork County Community College, Central Maine CommunityCollege, Southern Maine Community College, University ofMaine, Vocational Technical institutions at the high school level.Additionally the site developed a 4-year machinist apprenticeprogram along with an active on-boarding process for new hires
• North Berwick is represented by management on the board ofdirectors for Maine Manufactures Association, York CountyCommunity College, University of Southern Maine andUniversity of New Hampshire
• North Berwick has an active Veteran’s Council and Women’sCouncil that are engaged in community support/servicesthroughout Southern Maine.
• Pratt & Whitney continues to invest in its North Berwick facilityto ensure the site is positioned for future success. The companyhas made more than $125 million in capital investments andanother $75 million over the next three years is planned
