AchievementsRe-start of Collinsville Open Cut mine during 2014 under Glencore management.

Belmore, mined by open cut methods in the early 2000’s, was rehabilitated in 2004 to a grazing land use.

Collinsville achieved sign-off from Queensland Government's Department of Environment & Science in 2020 for rehabilitation of the former Belmore mining area (100ha).

In late 2020, Collinsville transitioned back into producing coking coal, while still producing a secondary thermal product. In January 2021, Collinsville’s first coking coal sale since 2013 was successfully produced and loaded.

Collinsville also installed a Meteorological Temperature Profiler to assist with air quality management.

Environmental ManagementThe Mine has seen the evolution of mining practices from pit ponies to dragline operations over 100 years of operation. Throughout the history of mining in the Collinsville Coal Fields, a variety of processes and practices have been undertaken. Environmental Management is focused on addressing environmental legacies that have been left as a result of 100 years of mining. We implement effective land and water management to address potential issues with acid mine drainage and spontaneous combustion through:• Appropriate material dumping, capping and

remediation strategies to seal acidic/pyritic materialfrom air and water.

• Appropriate landform design and development anddrainage for the mine life to reduce water ingressthrough acidic material.

• Active water treatment of existing acidic water stores.

Total area of land managed by

Collinsville was recognised as a potential coalfield as early as 1866.

Xstrata Coal (now Glencore) acquired MIM in 2003.

Collinsville celebrates 100 years of mining.

In 1952, MIM acquired an interest and gained a controlling interest in 1972 merging private and state owned mines.18

After successful mining trials, first underground mining began in 1919.

Glencore commenced operations of Collinsville Open Cut as owner operator after 17 years of contract management by Thiess.

The mine moved from underground to open cut operations progressively from the 1950s with large-scale open cut operations occurring in 1983 and the last underground mine completing operations in 1997.
