Wow!! This year is marching on and with a barrage of great Club events already under our belt and a whole lot more to come.

Sunday 15th March - Sprints at Queensland Raceway with 18 cars on track for a fun afternoon of 5 sprint sessions, what a great event! Peter Woods again must be thanked for putting together another great and well organized sprint day.

Then came the Super Event Weekend - 3 events in 3 days.

Firstly the AGM on Friday 27th March at the conference room of Motorama Holden and HSV Moorooka. Thanks again to Allan Carter and the Team at Motorama Moorooka for giving us access to their conference facility for the night. The committee for the HSV Owners Club Qld inc for 2015 are as follows:-

I would like to welcome Ian Huddleston to the committee for 2015 and I am sure Ian, with his passion for the Brand and Commitment to the HSV Owners Club Qld, will bring new ideas and further innovation from here on in. Also I would like to welcome Sonya Wells to the 2015 committee, during the latter part of 2014 Sonya was placed onto the committee to fill a vacancy and now has been voted onto the committee at the AGM. I am sure Sonya will be another valuable Committee member, again instrumental with the current committee in moving the Club forward in 2015.

The Club membership at the end of the Club financial year was at a Record of 268 members.

We, the committee of this great club Thank You All for your Passion for the Brand and Support of the Club in general and the fantastic Support each and every one of you give to the Club events during the year. This gives us the motivation and drive to keep the well organized top quality events coming for us all to enjoy and be proud of.

Saturday 28th March - Drags at Willowbank Raceway with 28 cars running down the strip. Peter organized a dial your own time format for this meeting which proved to be a real winner. Again, a fantastic afternoon with some astounding times achieved and a few surprises even for the owners. Looking forward to the next one, I am sure there will be a few cars give a tweak here and there before next time and a few friendly scores to settle.

Sunday 29th March - Cruise to the Bearded Dragon for Lunch. Leaving from Calamvale Tavern, cruising down the Mt Lindsay hwy to Beaudesert for a pit stop and coffee then onto Canungra then up the Mountain to Tamborine, then back down to the Tavern for Lunch. Sonya has to be congratulated for organizing a great run and top lunch venue for her first time cruise run. Well done Sonya, looking forward to what you have instore for us next time, as the first one was a real winner and enjoyed by all.

Cruise for lunch to... Sketches Restaurant, Ravensbourne

If you are interested in a cruise to Ravensbourne for lunch you are going to enjoy this!

I have organised a lunch at the Sketches Restaurant at Ravensbourne for Sunday 26th April 2015.

On offer for lunch you can choose from the menu which has something for everyone. A copy of the menu can be downloaded/viewed from the calendar

listing on the Club Website.

The cruise will start at 8:00am from Walkinshaw at Brendale.Address is: Unit 1 / 48 Kremzow Road, BRENDALE QLD 4500

From there we will make our way through Mount Glorious and pass Lake Wivenhoe from there we will continue on our way to Esk. Then we will make our

way up the mountain to Ravensbourne where we will have lunch around 12:00pm - 12:30pm. We will stop along the way for a small break for coffee and rest rooms.

Our friends and club sponsors at Motorama Holden/HSV Springwood are holding a charity cruise on Sunday May 24th 2015 with all proceeds from the day going to Starlight Children's Foundation.

The Starlight Children’s Foundation has been a force for good for over 26 years, help-ing to brighten the lives of children and teenagers with serious illnesses.

Together with Motorama, the Starlight Express Room at the new Lady Cilento Chil-dren’s Hospital is bringing fun back into the lives of those who need it the most.

The Starlight Express Room is the only room in the hospital where medical talk is not allowed – letting kids be kids, a haven for any children affected by illness, including brothers and sisters, who are often left with nothing to do when their sibling is sick.

The day will consist of a cruise starting at Motorama Springwood, travelling via some of the picturesque areas through Jacobs Well through to Coomera and up to Mt Tam-borine with the finish at The Bearded Dragon Hotel at Tamborine Village for lunch.

Motorama will be putting on a breakfast BBQ before the start, along with raffles and other attractions for further fund raising for this fantastic cause! We encourage as many members to attend as possible to support both a loyal club sponsor and of course, the main aim of the day, to raise much needed funds for Starlight Children's Foundation.

The cost is $20 per car for the day, which includes a breakfast BBQ. Lunch at The Bearded Dragon is optional and just pay directly to the hotel for your meals.

Members should aim to arrive at Motorama Springwood at 7am on the day.

Muscle on the Mountain Show and ShineSunday 5th July 2015, Maleny Showgrounds

The Club has been invited to attend the “Muscle on the Mountain” show and shine event on Sunday 5th July at the Maleny Showgrounds. This is a great chance to show off your pride and joy and browse the many other muscle cars on display with all proceeds on the day going to the “Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia”.

With gold coin entry, breakfast and lunch available and a great collection of vintage, classic and modern cars and bikes on display, it promises to be a great day for the whole family.

This is the 3rd occasion the Club has attended this event and we have secured limited spots for the show and shine. There will also be a cruise to the event, meeting at the Shell (Nudgee Rd exit) off the Gateway Arterial, since club cars on display are also required to arrive together to ensure a smooth entry. There will also be a meeting point at the BP Caboolture Bruce Hwy Northbound. Members who meet here will “join” the convoy as we cruise past.

There are a few trophies awarded on the day, amongst several generic categories, with judging done by members of the events organising committee. There is no requirement to register for judging. The main aim of the day is to show off your pride and joy and share your knowledge and experience with other enthusiasts.

We plan to depart from the Shell at Nudgee Rd at 6:45am to arrive at Maleny at approximately 8:00am. Gates open for participants at 7:30am – gates open for the public at 9:00am. The day concludes at 1:30pm so plenty of time to enjoy what Maleny has to offer on the way home after the event.

Entries will need to be done via QR Website and you need to first register as a user then go to event date and click on HSV group to complete your entry for each session. Please email me when you have done this so I know who is coming. Entries will be on a first

in first served basis and should be done a week in advance wherever possible. If you want late entry please phone Peter Woods on 0428 723 612 to check availability. Note: Do not complete your credit card details on line with QR. Use 9999 9999 9999 9999 & 09/19 to process entry. Payment is to be made on the day to the Club via cash/cheque or credit card. Entrants should arrive at track at approx 11:30am for sign in with the drivers briefing normally taking place at approx 12:00pm. First groups will be on the track at around 12:30pm - 1:00pm.

Prospective entrants should check the motorsport tab on our website to view handy tips for vehicle preparation for the sprints.

If you want to race this is not the event for you. If you want to stretch your cars legs and improve your driving skills we would love to have you along. You should also be aware that your car is unlikely to be covered by comprehensive insurance for any damage whilst on track.

Sprint Program 2015Dates for 2015 are as follows:

In 2015 we will be running in the open and street sprint series and all participants are eligible for both the Club championship and the QR championship. For QR scoring please check their website. The major Club trophy will be done using the regularity format again with trophies at the end of the year for 1st to 3rd. We will also be issuing a trophy for fastest over the 4 events as well (scoring will be done on 3 out of 4).There will be at least 3 x 4 lap sessions plus passenger ride session at discretion of track management - time permitting.

The cost for either venue is $150 (normal QR Rate is $175) per car payable to the Club by cash or cheque on the day. Other costs apart from running costs are QR AASA track licence of $55 per year or $20 per day. A timing device can be bought for $105.00 which will last for approx 7 years or can be hired for $20 a day with an $105 de-posit required with $85 refund upon return. Helmet hire is avail-able for $5.00 a day. QR oper-ates EFTPOS facilities at both tracks for licence, transmitter and helmet hire. NOTE: If you have a car with a full racing harness as your restraint device it is recommended you have a Hans type neck brace and helmet to suit. At some point in the future it may become mandatory.

Gee Bee’s Cafe in Cleveland, is the destination for your Sunday morning, “Coffee and Cars”.

Situated with easy access and parking for upto 100 club cars available if needed, Gee Bee’s great cafe, a bakery and a Wray Organics store means there is plenty of breakfast options available to everyone!

Gee Bee’s is a NEW “car themed” cafe which is quickly becoming a popular destina-tion for car clubs, due to its proximity to the bay offering great cruise options, and the desirable parking facilities at the site for large numbers. The cafe itself can seat approx. 35 people - but there is many “standing” breakfast items available, such as wraps and croissants, so I can see many congregating in the car park with your pride and joy, having a chat with breakfast and a coffee in hand!

PLEASE NOTE: There is two (2) car parks on Meadowlands Rd. We are meeting in the bitumen car park approx 80 metres west of Wright Street on the outbound side of Meadowlands Rd with the entrance just east of the outboud “Wright St” council Bus Stop.

The Gee Bee’s menu is available for download via the club website (Member Downloads and event list-ing on calendar). The cost for the morning is only what you purchase yourself to eat and drink.

Trip to BundabergJune Long Weekend 2015Saturday 6th June to Monday 8th June 2015

We are going to Bundy and before you ask, yes we will be visiting the Bundy Rum Distillery!!!

It’s been a while since we travelled away for a long weekend so we thought why not head to Bundy!!

Officially, the event will run for 3 days (2 nights), Saturday to Monday, but there is also the option to come up a day early and make it a 4 day (3 night) event, Friday to Monday if you wish.

We won’t just be visiting the Rum Distillery. We will also be heading to the Bundy Barrel (Bundabery brewed soft drinks). We will also be frequenting a number of beautiful food establishments!!!

The accommodation that has been reserved for our Club is The Manta Bargara. The Manta is a 5 star property located on the esplanade at Bargara. The Manta is Bargara’s newest resort and we have reserved a selection of 2 and 3 bedroom apartments. All rooms are fully self contained and all have balconies over-looking the ocean. The Manta has undercover secure car parking and the 3 bedroom apartments have 2 bath-rooms and 2 car parks. Why not take advantage of this and share an apartment with friends???

2015 Kart ChampionshipSaturday 20th June 2015For those of you who have petrol running through their veins, but don’t want to risk their pride and joy attending motorsport days, yet still want the exhilaration of speed, here is your solution!

Kingston Park Raceway is hosting the Club’s Kart evening to be held on Saturday Night 20th June 2015.

5:00pm: Arrival and Registration for all drivers5:30pm: Driver’s briefing - Our event name will be called out via loud speaker system all drivers must attend!6:00: Practice x 8 laps7:00pm: Heat 18:00pm: Heat 28:30pm: Grand Final9:00pm: Podium Presentation for 1st, 2nd and 3rd as well as a Mr Magoo award.

As there can only be a maximum of 25 drivers getting in quick is a must. Please let me know if you are interested ASAP. This night in previous years has been an absolutely fantastic event. Having it at night is not only cooler it seems to make everything feel faster!

Cost for the evening is $110 per person; minimum age is 16 years & fully enclosed foot wear must be worn.

Confirmation of drivers attending is required ASAP and payment for this event must be received by 22nd May 2015 or you can send your money to the Club sooner.
