Prayers of Confession Gracious God, we want to hold on to what we know. We

are afraid to take risks for the sake of the gospel; we want to keep our lives safe. Forgive us, O God, when we cling to comfort, when we build barriers to protect ourselves, when we choose the easy way. Transform our fears that we may deny ourselves, take up our cross, and follow Jesus to serve the world. Amen.

We confess, O God, that we are attracted to false gods and easy answers in life. We are vulnerable to temptations that could damage us in ways that are not obvious. Forgive us that sin draws us like moths to a flame. Restore us and fill us with godly resolve. In Jesus’s name, we pray. Amen.

CONGRATULATIONS

to Deacon Al & Shirley Falconi, DOW

who on March 7, 2018

celebrated their 40th Anniversary

in service

to the Diocese of Sault Ste. Marie

With prayers of gratitude for sharing

so generously the gifts you received from God

with our parish community!

NEXT FRIDAY

we host our Share Lent Hunger Meal

after the 12:05 PM Mass (See Bulletin Insert)

This same day, we celebrate the

Solidarity Way of the Cross at 5:00 PM. This Way of the Cross invites us to follow Jesus as he walks towards his crucifixion. Death cannot hold him; he rises again. Peacemakers must also rise against repeated obstacles as they work for peace and reconciliation through dialogue. Whether working for peace at the community, national or international level; whether addressing family, intercultural or land issues; they are a sign of hope in a world of conflict. Development and Peace – Caritas Canada invites you to walk this Way of the Cross in solidarity with those working for peace through dialogue. Quote from next week’s Solidarity Way of the Cross “All of us want peace. Many people build it day by day through small gestures and acts; many of them are suffering, yet patiently persevere in their efforts to be peacemakers. All of us … have the duty to become instruments and artisans of peace.”

(Pope Francis, Regina Cæli, Bethlehem)

2018 MEMBERSHIPS ARE DUE Ladies, perhaps you do not use the church envelopes for collection and are doing it electronically! This means you would no longer get the pink CWL renewal envelope. Easily missed!! White envelopes for member’s dues are on the table behind the pews. Please pick one

up and come back. We have definitely missed you and will welcome your return. Not a member yet? Please

consider joining us. Come out for a meeting to see what we are all about. Our next General Meeting will be held on Wednesday, April 4 at 7:00 PM in the Parish Hall. Guest speaker will be our very own Evelyn Riddell-Gruber who will show a slide show and talk about her experiences with villagers in West Africa.

2018 Membership cards are coming! As soon as they arrive they will be placed in a black box, also on the table behind the pews.

Easter Memorial Flowers & Decorations

A beautiful way to remember loved ones during this holy season is to donate memorial flowers and decorations in their memory. Your donation will help decorate the altar and sanctuary during the greatest season of the year … the Resurrection! Pre-printed white & green envelopes are available for your donation at the entrance to the church. Please fill out the requested information as neat as possible (printing would be best!). Include your donation and return the envelope to the office or in the weekly collection. A listing of remembrances will be printed in the Easter Sunday Bulletin. All donations over $10 are tax deductible. Remember your loved ones this Easter and

give glory to the Lord by helping to decorate

for this beautiful season!

Development & Peace Share Lent 2018

A school of community leaders in Peru

For the fourth week of Lent, let’s go to Peru and discover one of Development and Peace’s partners, the Bartolomé de Las Casas Institute! It runs the Hugo Echegaray leadership school, where students strengthen their capacity for dialogue, consensus, participation, and consultation in order to exercise ethical and responsible civic leadership in their communities.

“In Peru, many social conflicts stem from a lack of dialogue between citizens and the state. This has often caused deaths, which in turn reinforces mistrust of the country’s representa-tives. Through dialogue, citizens formulate their demands and opinions on the use of the resources and services provided by the state. The Hugo Echegaray School teaches us to value and promote spaces for dialogue and listening.

— Lidia Rojas, IBC Project Coordinator

Solidarity Sunday is celebrated in all Canadian parishes next weekend and the Development and Peace—Share Lent Collection will be taken. Please respond to this appeal with your usual generosity in support of our sisters and brothers in the Global South who fight every day for peace, human dignity, and social justice. Development and Peace envelopes will be in the pews or if you use another envelope, please be sure to mark it clearly “SHARE LENT” and put your name and address on the envelope. Thank you!
