“So what?” If Jesus’ death and resurrection doesn’t make a difference in us – then what difference does it make? It might just as well never have happened. However, when we meet the Risen Lord, “face to face” as it were – and believe as Thomas did (John 20:28) – it not only makes a difference, but that difference becomes contagious – in a very day-to-day manner. Like this Facebook post I saw and saved back in 2014 (and use with permission):
Emily Buccaneer ---> Janine Kuehn Britt Doing dishes with Charlotte this morning (honestly getting a little annoyed with her soaking our clothes in her enthusiasm), and she starts to sing what I think is one of her nonsensical dish songs. I had just asked for peace and patience as the last bowl she had accidentally dropped created a tidal wave over my clean dishes and Evie was awakened by the clang/splash and had started crying. As I took a deep breath and actually listened to her song the words became clear: "Yes! Je-suh love meeeee! Yes! Je-suh love me. Yes! Je-suh love meee!" Over and over again in perfect rhythm with the way she was "washing" a pizza pan. Heart melted. It's interesting that what I thought was bothering me wasn't “fixed,” but my eyes were opened to her good intentions, her love, and her hard work. The problem wasn't Charlotte. I have dry clothes to change into. Evie was going to wake up and need to nurse and be changed soon anyway. The dishes are all clean and the floor will eventually dry. My Charlotte knows the most important thing a person can know! Jesus loves her. And I'm sharing because that's something you taught me, and my life is better for it. I love you Mom, and thanks for helping me share Christ with my dear ones.
When someone accepts the Grace of God in Jesus
Christ – it not only makes a difference for that
person . . . it makes a difference in that person.
2 Corinthians 5:15-20a (NIV)
15And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again. 16So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view. Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer. 17Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! 18All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: 19that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. 20We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us.
As I read at the end of the Easter services:
Is Jesus alive for you today? Have you met Him on the road? Did you listen as He spoke to you with words worth more than gold? Did you pause amidst your sorrows,
to look beyond your sighs, To find the joy awaiting you as you look into His eyes?
Though life at times seems heavy, your heart bound up by chains, Death's sting has lost dominion in the heart where Jesus reigns. You need not wander aimlessly as though your life were lost, For someone has redeemed it. He calls, who paid the cost. Is Jesus alive IN you today? Can I see Him in YOUR face?
Does His light shine out from YOUR eyes, as He lives in YOU by grace?
We answer by the way we live.
“To know Christ and to make Him known.”
- Pastor John.

Mission Notes for May
We Just received a letter of appreciation for our donation to Church World Service for the 35
blankets we sent to them. This was from a special offering we took at Christmastime in lieu of purchasing
poinsettias for the alter. Please see the certificate and associated sheets from CWS on the bulletin board
outside the church office.
Two years ago, we honored police officers and firefighters for their service at a dinner on a Sunday
in May. Last year we chose the school bus drivers. This year we have chosen the teachers and para pros to
honor. They will be recognized at a potluck lunch here at the church at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 21, 2017. We
hope you will reserve this date and plan to come and say thank you to these dedicated community servants.
One item we ask to be held in prayer: Mike Harrington has left his position as Campus Life Director of
the Millington and Vassar Schools. Tod Cramer the YFC Executive Director is doing a search for a new person
to fill the vacancy. We encourage you to make this a matter for prayer that another person will be found to
reach out to the Jr. and Sr. High students in the Millington/Vassar area.
Our God and Jesus appreciate all the support we here at the Millington UMC and yes, all the churches
here do to further the mission and goal of our church, namely “TO KNOW CHRIST AND TO MAKE HIM KNOWN.”
Thanks,
~Maury Chapin, Missions Chairperson

At our April 10th meeting we were pleased to meet with our Shepherd, Michele
Weston. It was a great time getting to know her.
Our next meeting will be May 8 at 1:00 p.m. at the Riverside Grill in Vassar. We will
have lunch to celebrate all the workers on the bazaar. If you worked on the bazaar that was
held in November and would like to join us, please let Jennie Brown or Lois Boyd know. The

On May 21st we will work with the Mission Committee to sponsor a potluck dinner
after the second service. The teachers and staff of the Millington Schools will be invited and
honored. Please plan to come and bring a dish to pass. The meat will be furnished.
