Pastor’s Corner The Feast of Christ the King marks the
ending of the liturgical year. As Americans, it is difficult for us to identify with the image of a King. The notion of kingship may appear antiquated to our experience. However, today’s scriptures use this imagery to describe the Kingship of Jesus Christ. “His dominion is an everlasting dominion that shall not be taken away.”
We are reminded that Jesus will never leave his people. Jesus does not abandon his people. Jesus always will provide for his people. He gives us His Word. He gives us the Sacraments. In the Psalm we hear, “Your decrees are worthy of trust indeed; holiness befits your house.” The teachings of Jesus show us the path. The Catechism of the Catholic Church is a great summary of Jesus’ teaching. As disciples of Jesus Christ, we are called to imitate him in our words and action. That is the essence of holiness. We are men and women who are called to be holy. With the grace of God, we are to grow in union with Jesus.
In the second reading we hear, “Behold, he is coming amid the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him.” This reminds us that Jesus will return at the end of time. Jesus has given us time on this earth, to love Him and love our neighbor. He has called each of us to be faithful disciples and reflect his love in our words and actions. When he returns, at the end of time, all people will see Him – believers and unbelievers alike. Jesus will gather all his faithful followers into the joy of his Kingdom forever. We call this heaven. As disciples of Jesus Christ, we participate in building the Kingdom of God.
I would like to share with you an image that I had in prayer. In the center of my heart, there is a throne, a seat for the King. And the question is, “Who sits on that throne?” Does Jesus rule my life? Does Jesus have dominion over my thoughts, words and actions? Do I humbly submit myself to Jesus in all aspects of my life? Is Jesus King of my life? Jesus, in my life there are many times that I want to be King. Help me to humble myself, seek your forgiveness and place you in the center of my heart.
It is my prayer for all of us, that Jesus may be the true center of all our lives so that we as a parish community may contribute to building up the Kingdom of God! God Bless You! Fr. Keith
P. Keith

Every child is taught the Our Father, the Hail Mary and the Glory Be when they are young. But the
Church has a treasury of prayers from her tradition. Each month we would like to highlight a specific prayer and invite you to pray it each day or even to memorize it where it will be secure within
your memory. Prayer For Healing Victims of Abuse
God of endless love,
ever caring, ever strong, always present, always just:
You gave your only Son to save us by the blood of his cross.
Gentle Jesus, shepherd of peace,
join to your own suffering the pain of all who have been hurt
in body, mind, and spirit by those who betrayed the trust placed in them.
Hear our cries as we agonize
over the harm done to our brothers and sisters. Breathe wisdom into our prayers, soothe restless hearts with hope, steady shaken spirits with faith:
Show us the way to justice and wholeness, enlightened by truth and enfolded in your
mercy.
Holy Spirit, comforter of hearts, heal your people’s wounds
and transform our brokenness. Grant us courage and wisdom, humility and
grace, so that we may act with justice
and find peace in you. We ask this through Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Escucha nuestros gritos mientras agonizamos
y transforma nuestro quebrantamiento Danos valor y sabiduría, humildad y gracia,
Amen.
