Our journey

Our story began in 1976 with the establishment of Leader

Cable by Dato' Seri Hng Bok San. Through the years, the

Group has grown by leaps and bounds, from an annual

turnover of RM3 Million to over RM3 Billion today having

diversified from Cable into various industries including

Metal, Power, Property and F&B.

HNG Capital is the investment holding and management

company of HNG Capital Group ("The Group"). The Group is a

progressive and well-established local conglomerate with

diversified business interests in investments, power generation,

power transmission and distribution, metal, cable and property

investment.

HNG Capital was founded by Tan Sri Dato’ Seri H'ng Bok San.

The Group's history can be traced to its origin in Leader Group

that previously owned and controlled the cable business under

Leader Cable, which was established in 1976. The Leader Group

has grown from strength to strength, from an annual turnover

of RM3 million to over RM3 billion. The tremendous growth over

the past years has position the Leader Group as the largest

cable and wire producer in Malaysia and South East Asia. The

drive to consistently excel has earned Leader Group the

recognition as the most reputable and reliable manufacturer in

the cable and wire industry. Building on the strength of its core

business, Leader Group has diversified its business to include

metal, power, property and F&B. The privatisation of its listed

entity (Leader Universal Holdings Berhad) in July 2012 saw the

emergence of HNG Capital Group.

The Group has evolved in recent years that saw the disposal of

its main cable business in late 2014 to re-align The Group's

resources to facilitate a major change in its business focus.

Going forward, The Group's strategic focus will be on growing

its power and metal business locally and regionally.

Leader Universal Aluminium Sdn. Bhd. (LUA) is a

wholly-owned subsidiary of HNG Capital Sdn. Bhd.

A leading manufacturer of quality Aluminium Electrical

Conductors and Aluminium Alloy Rods in Malaysia, LUA

has a production capacity of 100,000 MT per annum,

which is currently supported by its production facilities

in Tampoi, Johor and Nilai, Negeri Sembilan. LUA’s

Aluminium and Aluminium Alloy Rods, which are

manufactured mainly for the wire and cable industry, are

renowned internationally for its world class quality

standards.

Alpha Industries Berhad (Alpha), a partially-owned

subsidiary of the Group, is one of the leading

manufacturers of electrical conductor grade copper rods

and wires in Malaysia. Incorporated on 20 February 1970,

Alpha has since consolidated its business operations in

two locations. Its headquarters is located in Johor while

its factory branch in situated in Prai.

POWER GENERATION

Concession Projects

The Group’s involvement in the power generation

business started in 1994 when it secured the first

Independent Power Producer (IPP) project in Cambodia

for an 18 years’ concession tenure to build-operate-transfer

a 35 MW diesel engine power plant in Phnom Penh. The

concession has expired in May 2015.

Riding on our successful operating track record, the

Group managed in 2009 to secure a second IPP project

in Cambodia for a 30 years’ concession tenure to

build-own-operate a 100MW coal-fired power plant in

Sihanoukville. This power plant was successfully put

into commercial operation in December 2013.

Forward Plan

In realising our vision to develop a portfolio of power

generation assets of diverse fuels in the region, where

the concession income serves to provide stable returns

to its investors, the Group is aggressively pursuing new

power generation projects in Southeast Asia in

Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Vietnam and Indonesia.

Apart from developing power plants, the Group, armed

with more than 16 years of operation experience, is also

exploring niche markets for the operation and

maintenance of power plants.

POWER TRANSMISSION& DISTRIBUTION

Concession Projects

The Group secured a 25 years’ concession to

Build-Operate-Transfer (“BOT”) a power transmission

line project in Cambodia in 2009. The BOT project

involves the construction of the North Phnom Penh

230/115kV substation and the Kampong Cham 115/22kV

substation and approximately 110km of double circuit

230kV overhead transmission lines linking these 2

substations. This project has commenced commercial

operation in August 2013.

The Group’s expertise and experience in designing,

manufacturing, supplying, laying, trunking and erecting

of power and telecommunication cables is evident from

the list of turnkey projects that have been successfully

commissioned over the years.

The Group’s involvement in property development began

in the late 80’s. It has to date developed several major

projects located mainly in Penang. These projects consist

of residential, commercial or mixed development ranging

from shop lots, retail units, terrace houses, bungalows,

condominiums and super condominiums. Driven by a

commitment towards excellence in design, workmanship

and delivery, the Group has earned itself a solid

reputation for developing top-notch quality and

well-designed properties with excellent value for money.

Due to a shift in focus onto its other core businesses,

especially in the Power segment, the Group has scaled

down its property development activities over the last few

years. Nevertheless, the Group is poised to reposition

itself as a developer as well as investor in strategic

property assets.

Dolphin Square Sdn. Bhd. was involved in the Mayfair

project, one of the most prestigious residential

developments on Penang island. This luxurious
