The focus of theOHGlobal laptop initiative is to provide an environment that promotes teaching and learning in adigital world where students are engaged through collaboration, communication, creativity, critical thinking, andconnectivity. OHGlobal promotes innovative learning through inquiry and problem-based approaches as well aschallengingallstudentstobeself-directed,independent,andlife-longlearners–essentialskillsnecessarytocompeteintheglobalarenaforcollegeplacementandemploymentopportunities.The21stcenturyrequireslearnerstobeabletonavigatesmoothly,effectively,andpurposefullythroughtheworldoftechnology.OHGlobalwillofferourstudentstheopportunitytoparticipateintheglobaleducationalenvironment.This initiative isapartnershipbetweenOttawaHillsLocalSchoolsand thehomeasweaskstudentsandparents toshare in the responsibility of the success of this program through a collaborative effort to manage, maintain, andsupportthelaptopandtheeducationalvaluesofOHGlobal.

• Provide students the opportunity to connect with each other and the world through technology in theclassroom,duringnon-instructionaltime,andathome.

ThisdocumentconsistsofthreespecificagreementsthatmakeuptheentireOHGlobalagreementbetweentheOttawaHillsLocalSchoolDistrictandthestudentsandparentsorguardians.ThespecificagreementsaretheTechnologyLoanAgreement,theStudentNetworkandInternetAcceptableUseandSafetyAgreement,andtheTechnologyProtectionFundAgreement.

TheOttawaHillsLocalSchools(hereinafterreferredtoas“District”)willlendtotheStudentoneApplelaptop(students grades 7-12), or one ChromebookLaptop(students in grades 5-6), charger, and case(hereinafterreferredtocollectivelyas“laptop”)ingoodworkingorder.ItistheresponsibilityoftheStudenttoensure that this laptop is retained in a safeenvironment.

Thislaptopis,andatalltimesremains,thepropertyofthe District and is provided to the Student foreducational purposes only for the current academicschool year. Students may not deface, destroy, orotherwise damage this laptop in anyway. Failure touse a laptop in an appropriate manner will result inconsequences as determined by the Student Code ofConduct, and may result in disciplinary action;revocation of the Student’s privilege to use and/oraccesstechnology,includingtheprivilegeoftakingthelaptop home; or civil and/or criminal liability underapplicablelaws.

Students must have the written permission of theirparents or guardiansbefore theywill bepermitted totaketheirlaptopoffschoolproperty.

TheDistrictisresponsiblefortrackingandmonitoringthelaptopassignedtoStudentsandlaptopssentoutforrepair. Laptops assigned to Students will be enteredinto inventoryandtagged. Asmallnumberof laptopswill serve as spares for assignment to Students asneeded. Spares will be temporarily assigned toStudentswhoselaptopsneedtoberetainedforrepair.StudentswithdrawingfromtheDistrictwillreturnthelaptopbeforetheirlastday.Ifnotreturned,thefamilywillbefinanciallyresponsibleforthereplacementcostofthelaptop.TheDistrictmayrequiretheStudentsto

turn in their laptopsat theendof theschoolyear tobeupgradedandservicedoverthesummer.

The Student may use the laptop for non-commercialpurposes in accordance with District policies,procedures, guidelines, and rules, including the DistrictAcceptableUse Policy, the StudentHandbook and Codeof Conduct, and local, state, and federal statutes andregulations.

Each laptophasbeensetupwithoneuserwithspecificprivileges and capabilities for the exclusive use of theStudenttowhichithasbeenassigned.TheStudentshallnot attempt to change or change the privileges andcapabilities of this user account, or allow others toattempt to change or change the privileges andcapabilitiesofthisuseraccount.

ThelaptopisassignedtoanindividualStudent.Studentsshouldnever“swap”or“share”theirlaptopwithanotherStudent.

The laptop should be in the Student’s possession orsecured in a locked locker and not in a vehicle at anytimeduringtheschoolday. A lockedlocker isthemostsecure location for the laptop during the school daywhenparticipatinginanactivitythatisnotconducivefortheuseof laptops (i.e.,PEclass, field trips, assemblies).Likewise, the locked locker is themost secure locationforthelaptopduringafter-schoolactivities.Donotleavelaptopsinlockerrooms,classrooms,orotherunsecuredorlesssecuredlocations.

The laptop may not be stored in vehicles during theschool day. Students shall protect the laptop fromextremeheatandcoldandwillnotleavethelaptopinavehicle during extreme temperatures. For securityreasons,laptopsshouldnotbeleftinvehiclesotherthanduring transport to or from school. It is expected that

the laptopwill be secured out of sight (in the trunk orotherstoragecompartment)whileinavehicle.

StudentsmayneversharetheirpasswordswithanotherStudent.Passwordsshouldalwaysbekeptconfidential.

Studentsmaynotmakeanyattempttoadd,deleteaccess,ormodifyotheruser’saccountsontheLaptoporonanyschoolownedcomputerordevice.

Studentsmaynot installoruseanysoftwareotherthansoftware owned and/or approved by the District andmade available to the Student in accordance with thisLoanAgreement.

AnemailaccountwillbeavailableforeachStudenttousefor appropriate academic communication with otherstudents and staff members only. This email is forcommunicationwithintheschooldistrict.

Identification labels have been placed on the Laptop.These labels are not to be removed ormodified. If thelabels become damaged ormissing, please contact techsupportforreplacements. Additionalstickers, labels,ormarkingsofanykindmaynotbeaddedtothelaptoporthecase.

TheDistrictnetworkisprovidedfortheacademicuseofall Students and staff. Students agree to takenoactionthatwouldinterferewiththeefficientacademicuseofthenetwork.

Students agree to use best efforts to ensure that theDistrict laptop is not damaged or rendered inoperativewhileintheStudent'spossession.

Studentswhohavepermissiontotaketheirlaptophomeareresponsibleforbringingtheirlaptop,fullycharged,toschool each day. Teachers are not expected to makespecialaccommodationsorgivespecialconsiderationforstudentswhoforgettheirlaptops.

Students are responsible for recharging the laptop athomeonadailybasis.

If the computer is lost or stolen, a parent or guardianshould immediately report the loss or theft to theDistrict.

Studentsagreetobringanylaptopthatisdamagedornotworking properly to the District Technology Office forrepair or replacement. Parents or guardians are notauthorized toattemptrepairs themselvesor tocontractwith any other individual or business for repair of thelaptop.

Students acknowledge and agree that the Student's useoftheDistrictlaptopisaprivilegeandthatbyagreeingtothe terms hereof, the Student acknowledgesresponsibility to protect and safeguard the Districtlaptop and to return the same in good condition uponrequestbytheDistrict.

Laptops are the property of the Ottawa Hills Board ofEducationandaremadeavailableunderthetermsofthisagreement for student use during the school year.Therefore, the District retains control, custody, andsupervisionofalllaptops.TheDistrictreservestherighttomonitorallactivitybyStudents.Student-usersshouldhave no expectation of privacy in their use of schoollaptops including email, stored files, or Internet sitesvisited.AllusersneedtobeawarethattheDistricthastheabilitytomonitorInternetusage.Usingcomputerstovisit sites that are inappropriate and do not meet theeducational purposes of the district will result inconsequences as determined by the Student Code ofConduct, and may result in disciplinary action;revocationoftheStudent’sprivilegetouseand/oraccesstechnology, including the privilege of taking the laptophome;orciviland/orcriminal liabilityunderapplicablelaws.

Never store anything on the laptop that would beembarrassing, inappropriate, or illegal. The StudentCodeofConductisineffectatalltimesandappliestoallStudentsandtheiruseofschool-ownedtechnology.

The laptops and all software and applications installedthereon are the property of the District and inaccordancewith the lawmay be the subject of randomsearch. School officials reserve the right to searchlaptops and the files thereon when there may be aviolation of the Student Code of Conduct and/or whenorder,health,andthesafetyofpersonsmaybeanissue.This standard also applies to any and all school-sponsoredactivitiesatanylocation.

TheInternetprovidesunparalleledaccesstoeducationalresourcesandopportunitiesforpersonalgrowth. Asaneducational tool, users can learn about virtually anytopic.TheInternetalsocontainscontentthatmaynotbeappropriate for students. The District will providelearning opportunities for students within a safe andnurturing environment, andwill continue to teach safeandeffectiveInternetusageskills.

The District has the obligation to provide Internetfilteringforschool-ownedtechnologywhileatschoolandat home or outside the district. The District Internetfiltering system will block most inappropriate sites atschool and home, but the Internet is vast and everchanging,making it impossible toguaranteetoblockallinappropriatewebsites.Whileatschool,studentsdonothave access to personal email, games, Facebook,YouTube,orothersocialmedia,aswellasinappropriatewebsites.

Webelieve thebestway to ensure that each Student ishaving positive online experiences is for parents orguardians to stay in touchwithwhat theirStudentsaredoing. We also recognize that each household has itsownrules foronlineactivity. Whatmaybeappropriatefor a senior may not be appropriate for a youngerstudent.

Therefore,theDistrictwillprovidetheoptionforparentstoselectthelevelofInternetfilteringforeachStudent’slaptopwhileoutsidetheDistrict.Thiswillallowparentsto select, which tier or level would be appropriate fortheirStudents.TierIwillestablishfilteringathomeandoutsidetheDistrictequaltothe levelthat isestablishedduring the schoolday. WithinTier I studentswillhaveaccesstopersonalemailwhileoutsidethedistrict. TierIIwill open capabilities for Students to access personalemail as well as sites such as Facebook, YouTube, andother websites that may be blocked during the schoolday.

Internet Safety

Using the Computer for Internet and Email Students should not share personal information aboutthemselves or others while using the Internet unlessrequired for a school assignment or activity. Thisincludesa student’sname, age, address,phonenumber,or school name. Students agree to be responsible andcarefulwhenitisnecessarytogivepersonalinformation(i.e.,onlinecollegeapplication).

Parentsor guardiansand students are required to readandagreetotheDistrict’sAcceptableUsePolicypriortoreceivingInternetandemailaccess.

General Use and Care of the Laptop

Students should always be sure that the school issuedprotective case is fully closed when transporting theirLaptopsfromclasstoclassandtoandfromschool.

Studentsareencouragedtohelpeachotherinlearningtooperate their laptops. However, such help should beprovided with voices and not hands. Students shouldoperatetheirowncomputeratalltimes.

Any inappropriateorcarelessuseofa laptopshouldbereportedtoateacherorotherstaffmemberimmediately.

Students should not use their laptops while walking.Laptopsshouldonlybeusedwhilesittingonaflat,stablesurface such as a table. Laptops can be fragile, and ifdroppedmaybreak.

Studentsshouldprotecttheirlaptopsfromextremeheator cold, and should not leave them in vehicles duringextreme temperatures. For security reasons, laptopsshould not be left in vehicles other than duringtransport to or from school. It is expected that thelaptopwill be secured out of sight (in the trunk orotherstoragecompartment)whileinavehicle.

Laptops should be protected from the weather, water,liquids, food, and pets. Students should never eat ordrinkwhileusingtheirlaptops,orusetheirlaptopsnearotherswhoareeatingordrinking.

Heavyobjectsshouldneverbeplacedorstackedontopofthelaptops.Thisincludesbooks,musicalinstruments,sportsequipment,etc.

Laptopsmustremainintheschoolissuedprotectivecaseatalltimes.Thelaptopinitscaseshouldnotbeplacedinabackpackwithbooksandotheritems.

Students shoulduse carewhenplugging in theirpowercord.Neverplacethepowercordinapositionthatmaybetriphazardorcausedamagetothelaptop.

Laptopsshouldnotbeplacedonorundersoftitemssuchaspillows,chairsorsofacushions,orblankets.Thismaycause the laptop tooverheat,andmayresult indamagetothelaptop.

Power Management

Laptopsneedtobechargedeverynightsobatteriesarefully charged at the beginning of each school day. It isthe responsibility of the Students to ensure that theybringafullychargedlaptoptoschooleachday.

Laptop batteries may or may not last a full daydepending on the amount and type of computer usage.Students may need to find an outlet during the day torecharge their batteries. Charging stations will beavailabletostudentsinthelibraryduringtheschoolday.Teachers are not expected to make specialaccommodations or give special consideration duringclass for students with laptops that are not adequatelycharged. Itwillbetheteacher’sdecisionhowtohandlecharginginindividualclassrooms.

The following settings and procedures will maximizebatterylife:

When the laptop isnot inuse,put it tosleepbyclosingthelid.

Reduce the screen brightness to greatly increase thebatterylife.

Use a simple, solid-colordesktop image at school. Pickone of the preset images. Save deeper colors, largepicture files, and transitioning/moving desktop imagesforhomeandweekenduse.

Keepthelaptopinmoderatetemperatures.Temperatureextremeswilldiminishbatterycapacityandcandamagethecomputer.

Neverleaveyourlaptopinacarorothervehicleduringtheschooldayorduringextremetemperatures.

Quitapplications thatarenotnecessaryor thatyoudonotneedatthemoment.

Consequences of Inappropriate Use

The use of any district technology is a privilege and not aright, including the use of laptops through the OH Globalone-to-one initiative. Students are expected to use theirlaptops in accordance with these Policies and Procedures,the District Acceptable Use Policy, the Student Code ofConduct,andanyapplicablelaws.Failuretousealaptopinan appropriate manner will result in consequences asdeterminedbytheStudentCodeofConduct,andmayresultindisciplinaryaction;revocationoftheStudent’sprivilegetouse and/or access technology, including the privilege oftaking the laptop home; or civil and/or criminal liabilityunderapplicablelaws.

Cost of Loss or Damage

The district will provide limited protection againstincidental damage to and loss of the laptop through aTechnologyProtectionFund. ThisoptionalfundcoversthelaptopprovidedtotheStudentunderthisagreementagainst all incidental damage or loss over $50.Accessories (charger and case) and damages valued atless than $50 are NOT covered and are the soleresponsibility of the student andparents or guardians.Adeductiblefeeof$200forallotherdamagesandlossapplies; the fund will cover all expenses above thedeductible amount. Coverage under this fund is 24hours per day. Damage causedbynegligencewillnotbe coveredby theTechnologyProtectionFundandwill be the sole financial responsibility of thestudent and parents or guardians. It is theresponsibility of the administrators to determine ifdamagesareduetonegligenceoraccident.

Repeated incidents of damage to the laptop within atwo-year period may result in a graduated deductibleamount as follows: 1st incident - $200; 2nd incident -$200;3rdincident-$500;4th-$750.Repeatedincidentsoflossofalaptopoveratwo-yearperiodmayresultinagraduateddeductible amount as follows: 1st incident -$200;2ndincident-$500;3rdincident$750.Additionalincidenceswill be handled on an individual basis. Thegraduated deductible for Chromebook laptops willswitch to the fair market value beginning at the 3rdIncident.

ThesuccessofthisprogramispredicatedonthepartnershipbetweentheDistrictandthehome,andweaskthatyoushareintheresponsibilityofsupervisionofthetechnologyissuedtoyourStudent.Yourson/daughterhasbeenissuedalaptop,charger,andcasetoenhanceandpersonalizehis/hereducationduringtheschoolyear.Itisessentialthatthefollowingguidelinesbefollowedtoensurethesafe,efficient,andethicaloperationofthislaptop:

• Iwillsupervisemychild'suseofthelaptopathome.Theschoolencouragesandresearchsupportsthat

theuseofcomputersinacommonfamilylocationprovidesthesafestenvironment.

• Iwilldiscussourfamily'svaluesandexpectationsregardingtheuseoftheInternetandemailathome.

• Iwillsupervisemychild'suseoftheInternetandemail.

• Iwillnotattempttorepairthelaptoporhavethelaptoprepaired,norwillIattempttocleanthelaptop

withanythingotherthanasdirectedbytheDistrict.

• Iwillreporttotheschoolanyproblemswiththelaptop.

• Iwillnotdownload,install,oruseanysoftwareoranytoolsofanykind,includinganyapplicationthat

willrundirectlyfromthedesktopordocumentsfolder,ontothelaptop.

• Iwillnotattempttoremoveprogramsor files fromthe laptop,orattempttoalteranysettingsonthe

laptopforwhichIdonothaveconsent.

• Iwillmakesuremychildchargesthebatterynightly.

• Iunderstandthatmychildisexpectedtobringthelaptoptoschooleachdayaspartoftheessentialtools

necessaryfortheeducationalprocess.

• Iagreetoreturnthelaptoptoschoolwhenrequestedanduponmychild'swithdrawalfromtheDistrict.

Yourlaptopisanimportantlearningtoolandistobeusedforeducationalpurposesonly.Inordertotakeyourlaptophomeeachday,youmustbewillingtoacceptthefollowingresponsibilities:

• IwillfollowthepoliciesandproceduresoftheDistrict, includingtheStudentCodeofConduct,theAcceptableUsePolicy,andabidebyalllocal,state,andfederallawswhenusingthelaptopathome,atschool,andanywhereelseImaytakeit,

• Iwilltreatthelaptopwithcareatalltimes. Negligencemayinclude,butnotlimitedto,droppingit,gettingitwet,leavingitoutdoors,exposingtoextremetemperatures,leavingitinavehicle,orusingitwithfoodordrinknearby.

• Iwillkeepmylaptopinmyschool-issuedprotectivecaseatalltimes,

• Iwillnotlendorpermitanyonetoaccessorusethelaptop,includingmyfriendsorsiblings;itwillstayinmypossessionoranapprovedsecurelocation.

• Iwillkeepmylockerlockedatalltimeswhenmylaptopisstoredinside.

• Iwillkeepallaccountsandpasswordsassignedtomesecure,andwillnotsharethesewithanyotherStudents.

• Iwillnotdownload,install,oruseanysoftwareoranytoolsofanykind,includinganyapplicationthatwillrundirectlyfromthedesktopordocumentsfolder,ontothelaptop.

• Iwillnotattempttoremoveprogramsorfilesfromthelaptop,orattempttoalteranysettingsonthelaptopforwhichIdonothaveconsent.

• Iwillrechargethelaptopbatteryeachnight.

• Iwillbringthelaptoptoschooleveryday.

• Iwillnotattempttorepairthe laptoporhavethe laptoprepaired,norwill Iattempttocleanthe laptopwithanythingotherthanasdirectedbytheDistrict.

• Iwillreporttotheschoolanyproblemswiththelaptop.

• Iagreethatemail(oranyothercomputercommunication)shouldbeusedonlyforappropriate,legitimate,andresponsiblecommunication.

• IwillreturnthelaptopwhenrequestedanduponmywithdrawalfromtheDistrict.

• I will not share personal information about others ormyself while using the Internet unless required for aschoolassignmentoractivity.Thisincludesname,age,address,phonenumber,orschoolname.Iagreetoberesponsibleandcarefulwhenitisnecessarytogivepersonalinformation(i.e.,onlinecollegeapplication).

• Iwillprotectmy laptop fromextremeheatorcold,andwillnot leave the laptop inavehicleduringextremetemperatures.Forsecurityreasons,duringtransporttoandfromschool,Iwillsecuremylaptopoutofsight(inthetruckorotherstoragearea)whileinavehicle.

• ThelaptopsandallsoftwareandapplicationsinstalledthereonarethepropertyoftheDistrictandinaccordancewiththelawmaybethesubjectofrandomsearch.SchoolofficialsreservetherighttosearchlaptopsandthefilesthereonwhentheremaybeaviolationoftheStudentCodeofConductand/orwhenorder,health,andthesafetyofpersonsmaybeanissue.Thisstandardalsoappliestoanyandallschool-sponsoredactivitiesatanylocation.

OttawaHillsLocalSchools(hereafterreferredtoasDistrict)ispleasedtoofferourstudents’accesstotheWorldWideWeb and other electronic networks. Students are encouraged to use the technology available in the District. TheDistrict’stechnologyisanimportanteducationalresource,whichprovidesopportunitiesforcollaborationandexchangeof information; facilitates personal growth in the use of technology; and enhances information access, retrieval,evaluation,usage,andcommunicationskills.However,itisimportanttorememberthataccessisaprivilege,notaright,andcarrieswithitresponsibilitiesforallinvolved.

ThisAcceptableUseandInternetSafetyPolicy is anagreementbetween the student, parent/guardian, and theDistrict.TheintentofthisdocumentistoensurethatparentsareknowledgeableaboutandthatstudentswillcomplywiththeAcceptableUseandInternetSafetyPolicyapprovedbytheDistrict.TheagreementsignaturepagemustbecompletedandreturnedtotheOfficeofInstructionandTechnology.

Terms of Agreement Personal Responsibility, Use and Acceptance In exchange for the use of the District computers and other hardware, Internet access, email, electronicsubscriptions/research/productivityresources,andinternalelectronicresources(hereafterreferredtoastheNetwork),we (parents/students) understand and agree to the following items (as signifiedby signing the attached agreement).StudentswhouseorotherwiseaccesstheDistrict’sNetworkviawirelessorhardwiredconnection(hereafterreferredtoasUsers) are responsible for their behavioron theNetwork just as they are in a classroom, schoolhallway, or otherSchoolDistrictproperty. TheUserconsentstothetermsofthisPolicywheneverheorsheaccessestheNetwork.TheDistrictreservestherighttoremovefiles,limitordenyaccess,and/orreferastudentforotherschooldisciplinaryactionand/or,ifnecessary,criminalprosecutionasaresultofanyimproperuse,determinedbytheDistrict,andisnotlimitedbytheexamplesofmisusegiveninthisPolicy.

Infractionsto theAcceptableUseandInternetSafetyPolicywillbe inaccordanceto theschooldisciplinepolicies. Allschool rules, regulations, and consequences specified in the student handbooks regarding violations such as use ofprofanity,harassment,theft,misuse,vandalism,etc.willapply.Studentswillbeliableforanydamagescausedbymisuseofaccessprivileges.

A. TheuseoftheNetworkisaprivilegenotaright.ThisprivilegemayberevokedbytheDistrictatanytimeandfor anyreason.

B. TheuseofDistrictand/orNetworkresourcesareforthefollowingpurposes(inorderofpriority):

1. supportoftheacademicprogram

2. telecommunicationsforacademicpurposes

3. generalinformationandresearch

C. TheDistrict reservesall rights toanymaterials stored in fileswhicharegenerallyaccessible toothersandwill removeanymaterialwhich theDistrict, at its solediscretion,believesmaybeunlawful,obscene,pornographic, abusive, or otherwise objectionable. Students will not use their District-approved computer account/access to obtain,view,download,orotherwisegainaccesstosuchmaterials.

D. AllinformationservicesandfeaturescontainedonDistrictand/orNetworkresourcesareintendedfortheprivate useof itsregisteredUsers. Anyuseof theseresources forcommercial-for-profituses, intrusiononotherUsers’ privacy, or other unauthorized purposes (i.e., advertisements, political lobbying), in any form, is expressly forbidden.

E. NopersonalequipmentispermittedtobeconnectedtotheOttawaHillsNetwork.Thisincludes,butisnotlimited to, personal computers or tablets, handhelds, phones, gaming consoles, etc. In addition no equipment shall be connectedtotheOttawaHillsNetworkthatisexpresslyprohibitedbytheNorthwestOhioComputerAssociation (NWOCA).Saidequipment includes,but isnot limitedto,routers,modems,wirelessnetworkingequipment,and managed switches. Under no circumstances should District owned technology be moved from one location to anotherwithoutpermissionoftheDistrictTechnologyCoordinator.

F. The District and/or Network are intended for the exclusive use by registered Users. Anonymous use is not permitted and access (including passwords) may not be shared or transferred. Any improper use of your account, even if you are not the User, is your responsibility. The student is responsible for the use of his/her account/passwordand/oraccessprivilege.Anyproblems thatarise fromtheuseofa student’saccountare the responsibilityoftheaccountholder.Studentsareresponsibleforloggingoutoftheirindividualaccountattheend of each use. Use of an account by someone other than the registered account holder is forbidden andmaybe grounds for lossofaccessprivilegesand forotherschooldisciplinaryactions. Usersmustreportanymisuseof the Network, including security/password breaches, to the District Technology Coordinator or building administrator.

G. Any misuse of District technology, User accounts, or Network resources will result in suspension of access privilegesand/orotherdisciplinaryactiondeterminedbytheDistrict.Misuseshallinclude,butnotbelimitedto:

1. intentionally seeking information on, obtaining copies of, or modifying files, other data, or passwords belongingtootherUsers;loggingontootherUsers'accounts(foranyreason)

2. allowinganyoneotherthantheaccountholdertouseanaccount,sharingyourpasswordwithanyoneor loggingotherUsersontoyouraccount

3. impersonatingotherUsersontheNetworkthroughanyelectroniccommunication.

4. interferingwithothers'useoftheNetwork;disrespectingotherUsers'rightstoprivacy

5. accessingorattemptingtoaccessinformationinareasstudentsdonothaveaccessto

6. useofanonymousproxiesoranyotherattemptstocircumventcontentfilteringisstrictlyprohibitedand isadirectviolationofthisagreement.

7. malicioususeoftheNetworkthroughhatemail,harassment,profanity,vulgarorthreateningstatements, cyberbullying,ordiscriminatoryremarks

8. extensiveusefornoncurriculum-relatedcommunication

9. usingDistrict provided electronic communications for expressionof opinions, as apublic forumof any kind,ortosupportprivateorpubliccausesorexternalorganizations.

10. engaging in commercial transactions. Studentsmaynotuse the schoolNetwork to sell orbuyanything overtheInternet.

15. disruptingtheoperationoftheNetworkthroughabuseoralterationofanyDistrictowned hardware,software,orNetworkresources

16. attemptingtohackintoanyDistrictownedhardware,software,orNetworkresources

17. vandalizingDistrictownedhardware,software,orNetworkresources

18. USEOFOUTSIDESERVICES:Allemail,documentstorage,blogs,socialnetworking,oranyandall otheronlineservicesmustbeprovidedbytheSchoolDistrictonitsNetwork. Theuseofother providersofsuchfunctionalityorstorage(suchas,Facebook,Twitter,personalGoogle account,personalemailaccounts)throughtheDistrict’sNetworkisprohibited.Permissionto accesstheseservicesmaybegrantedonalimitedbasisbytheDistrictTechnology Coordinator.Astudentmustobtainpermissionpriortoaccess.

19. neglecting to follow guidelines of Web 2.0 tools (outlined in separate section below.)

H. The student will diligently delete documents on a regular basis from his/her District issued Network account to avoid excessive use of disk space. The student will refrain from saving noncurriculum related files onto their District issued Network accounts such as personal photos and music. I. TheDistrictreservestherighttoimposetimelimits,accesslimits,anddiskandprinterquotas.Academic pursuitstakepriorityoverallotheractivities.

J. TheDistrictreservestherightto logcomputeruseandtomonitorfileserverspaceutilizationbyUsers. The District reserves the right to remove a User account from the Network to prevent further unauthorizedactivity.

K. TheDistrictand/orTechnologyCoordinatorwillperiodicallymakedeterminationsonwhether specific usesofDistricttechnologyareconsistentwiththeacceptable-usepractice.

Use of Web 2.0 Tools Online communication is critical toour students learning21stCenturySkills and tools suchasblogging, email,online/cloud computing, and podcasting offer an authentic, real-world vehicle for student expression. Theprimary responsibility to students is their safety. Hence, expectations for classroom projects or other Webinteractiveactivities,suchasblogging,email,online/cloudcomputing,andpodcastingmustfollowallestablishedInternetsafetyguidelines.

A. Theuseofblogs,email,online/clouddocuments,podcastsorotherWeb2.0toolsisconsidered anextensionoftheclassroom.Therefore,anyspeechthatisconsideredinappropriateinthe classroomisalsoinappropriateinallusesofblogs,email,online/clouddocuments,podcasts,or otherWeb 2.0 tools. This includes, but is not limited to, cyber bullying, profanity, racist, sexist or discriminatory remarks.

C. AstudentshouldNEVERpostpersonalinformationontheweb(including,butnotlimitedto,lastnames, personaldetailsincludingaddressorphonenumbers,orphotographs).Donot,underanycircumstances, agreetomeetsomeoneyouhavemetovertheInternet.

D. Commentsmadeonblogs,email,online/clouddocuments,podcastswillbemonitoredand - if theyare inappropriate–willbedeletedanddisciplinaryactionmaybetaken.

E. Neverlinktowebsitesfromyourblogorblogcommentwithoutreadingtheentirearticletomakesureit isappropriateforaschoolsetting.

F. StudentsusingsuchtoolsagreetonotsharetheirUsernameorpasswordwithanyonebesidestheir teachersandparentsandtreatblogspacesasclassroomspaces.Speechthatisinappropriateforclassis alsoinappropriateforablog.

G. Studentswhodonotabidebythesetermsandconditionsmaylosetheiropportunitytotakepartinthe projectand/orbesubjecttoconsequencesappropriatetomisuse.

Internet Safety A. ParentsandUsers-Despiteeveryeffortforsupervisionandfiltering,allUsersandtheir parents/guardiansareadvisedthataccesstotheelectronicNetworkmayincludethepotentialforaccess tomaterials inappropriate forschool-agedstudents. EveryUsermust takeresponsibility forhisorher useoftheNetworkandInternetandavoidthesesites.

B. PersonalSafety-InusingtheNetworkandInternet,Usersshouldnotrevealpersonalinformationsuchas home address or telephone number. Users should never arrange a face-to-facemeetingwith someone “met”ontheInternetwithoutaparent’spermission.

C. ConfidentialityofStudentInformation-Usersareresponsible formaintainingthesecurityof theirdata andotherpersonallyidentifiableinformation.Usersshouldnevergiveoutprivateorconfidential informationaboutthemselvesorothersontheInternet.Usersareresponsibleforthedatathatis downloaded from theNetwork to their computer screen, transmittedbyemail, storedona flashdrive, portabledeviceorlaptop,copiedbyhandwritingorbyanyorallotherdevices,formsofstorageor methods.

D. ActiveRestrictionMeasure -TheDistrictwillutilize filteringsoftwareorother technologies toprevent studentsfromaccessingvisualdepictionsthatare(1)obscene,(2)pornographic,or(3)harmfulto minors.Theuseofanonymousproxiesoranyotherattemptstocircumventthecontent filter isstrictly prohibitedandwillbeconsideredaviolationofthispolicy.Theschoolwillalsomonitortheonline activitiesofstudents,throughdirectobservationand/ortechnologicalmeans.

The District will provide age-appropriate training for Users who access the Internet through the District Network.Following receipt of this training, theUserwill acknowledge that he/she received the training, understood it, andwillfollowtheprovisionsofthepolicyherein.ThetrainingprovidedwillbedesignedtopromotetheDistrictcommitmentto:

• ThestandardsandacceptableuseofInternetservicesassetforthherein;

• Userssafetywithregardto:

§ safetyontheInternet;

§ appropriatebehaviorwhileononline,onsocialnetworkingwebsites,andinchatrooms;and

§ cyberbullyingawarenessandresponse.

• CompliancewiththeE-raterequirementsoftheChildren'sInternetProtectionAct("CIPA").

Waiver of Privacy TheDistrictreservestherighttomonitor,inspect,copy,reviewandstoreatanytimeandwithoutpriornoticeanyandallusageofthecomputerNetwork,Internetaccess,andanyuseofDistrictprovidedequipmentandservices. Allsuchdataand transmissions shall be and remain the property of the District and no User shall have any expectation of privacyregardingsuchmaterials.

System Security and Integrity The District has defined these guidelines to help students and to insure an understanding of appropriate use andexpectations. TheDistrictreservestherighttosuspendoperationsof theNetwork, inwholeor inpart,atanytimeforreasonsofmaintainingdatasecurityandintegrityoranyotherlawfulreason.TheDistrictreservestherighttoblockorfilteranywebsites,emailaddresses,serversorInternetdomainswhichit,initssolejudgment,hasdeterminedtopresenta riskof exposing studentsoremployees to sexuallyexplicitorotherwise inappropriate content,orwhichexposes thesystem to undue risk of compromise from the standpoint of security or functionality. Staff members will exercisereasonable care in supervising student use; however, the District and its personnel are not responsible for studentexposuretoobjectionableorinaccuratecontentorfortheunauthorizedactivitiesofaUser.

No Warranties Created The District and/or Technology Coordinator do not warrant that the functions of the system will meet any specificrequirements the Usermay have or that itwill be error free or uninterrupted; nor shall it be liable for any direct orindirect, incidental, or consequential damages (including lost data, information, or time) sustained or incurred in theconnectionwiththeuse,operation,orinabilitytousethesystem.Studentsaretoreportanyproblemstotheteacher,whoshallnotifytheTechnologyCoordinator.

In consideration for the privileges of using the District Network and/or research resources, and in consideration forhaving access to the information contained on or by the Network, we hereby release the District, Network, the dataacquisition site, and their operators and administrators from any and all claims of any nature arising from the use orinabilitytousetheDistrict,Network,and/orresearchresources.

We(studentandparent/guardian)agree,bysigningtheAcceptableUseandInternetSafetyPolicyAgreement, toabidebysuch rules and regulations of system usage as well as by any changes deemed necessary by the District TechnologyCoordinator.TheserulesandchangeswillbeavailableinhardcopyformintheOfficeofInstructionandTechnologyandfromtheDistrictTechnologyCoordinator.

Technology Protection Fund Agreement

Please read this entire agreement to determine if thisTechnologyProtectionFundisneededforyouandyourchild's protection against damage to and loss of theloaned laptop in your care. This form must becompleted and marked YES or NO before the laptopwillbeprovidedtotheStudent.

Coverage and Benefit The district will provide limited protection againstincidental damage to and lossof the laptop throughaTechnologyProtectionFund.Thisoptionalfundcoversthe laptop provided to the Student under thisagreement against all incidental damage or loss over$50. Accessories (charger and case) and damagesvalued at less than $50 are NOT covered and are thesole responsibility of the student and parents orguardians. A deductible fee of $200 for all otherdamages and loss applies; the fund will cover allexpenses above the deductible amount. Coverageunderthisfundis24hoursperday.Damagecausedbynegligence will not be covered by the TechnologyProtection Fund and will be the sole financialresponsibility of the student and parents orguardians. It is the responsibility of theadministrators to determine if damages are due tonegligenceoraccident.

Repeated incidents of damage to the laptop within atwo-year periodmay result in a graduated deductibleamount as follows: 1st incident - $200; 2nd incident -$200; 3rd incident - $500; 4th - $750. Repeatedincidentsoflossofalaptopoveratwo-yearperiodmayresultinagraduateddeductibleamountasfollows:1stincident -$200;2nd incident -$500;3rd incident$750.Additional incidenceswillbehandledonan individualbasis.

Effective and Expiration Dates Thiscoverageiseffectivefromthedatethisformissignedand the premium payment is received by the Districtthrough the date at which the laptop is required to bereturnedingoodworkingordertotheDistrict.

Premium The total premium cost is $50 per school year. Partialsemestersarenotrefundable.Itisagreedandunderstoodthat:

The District Technology Protection Fund will offercoveragetoallStudents.

Participation is voluntary. Students who do notparticipatewill not be permitted to take their laptop offschoolproperty.

AseparateapplicationtotheTechnologyProtectionFundwillbeneededforeachlaptopissuedundertheOHGlobalAgreement

Itistheresponsibilityoftheadministratorstodetermineifdamagesaredue tonegligenceor accident. A Studentwith a damaged laptopwill be given a replacement, butmaynotbepermittedtotakethelaptophome.
