Ezekiel and Genesis

- Many points of contact between Ezekiel opening vision of the glory of Godand opening chapters of Genesis Ezekiel mighty wind storm - ruah

Ezek. 1:4 As I looked, behold, a stormy wind came out of the north, and agreat cloud, with brightness around it, and fire flashing forth continually, and inthe midst of the fire, as it were gleaming metal.

Genesis windstorm recalls activity of God in creation where ruahhovered over waters. Also recreation of the earth after the flood

Gen. 1:2 The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the faceof the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.

Ezekiel centre of windstorm are living creatures (later id ascherubim)

Ezek. 10:1 Then I looked, and behold, on the expanse that was over theheads of the cherubim there appeared above them something like a sapphire,in appearance like a throne.

Genesis Cherubim enforce divine judgement Gen. 3:24 He drove out the man, and at the east of the garden of Eden he

Together these references set the tone of the entire book as an account of uncreation recreation

New Adam and Re-creation
