Misr Raymond Foundations

• Misr Raymond Foundations is a specialized contracting company offering afull range of piling and geotechnical services to the construction industry. Itwas incorporated in July 1979 under provisions of the Egyptian law No.43, bytwo shareholders being Raymond International and Specialized Contractingand Industries Co. (SCIC).


History

• The association of Raymond International and SCIC commenced in 1965 whentheir parent companies co-operated on a project by project basis forfoundations and related works in various Arab countries. This association wasintroduced to Egypt in 1977 and continued until the establishment of MisrRaymond in 1979.


Overview

• Misr Raymond Foundations has developed and now offers a full range of pilingfoundation systems, soil investigation, material testing laboratory, and technicalsupport. Misr Raymond has the capability to construct piles of various types accordingto the site and soil type requirements. Misr Raymond is currently the market leader formarine and land foundations including all types of piles (bored, driven and CFA).

Piling

• Bored Piles:Rotary rigs create the pile bore by

removing the soil in sections,approximately a meter deep, until thedesign depth has been reached. At thisstage full depth reinforcement cages,steel sections or permanent casings canbe easily installed prior to the placementof concrete. Misr Raymond piles rangefrom 600 to 2500 mm and lengths reachup to 70 m deep. The individual pile loadcapacity reaches up to 1000 tons.

•

Piles are constructed by injecting concrete through the hollow stem of

the auger, with the spoil being extracted in one continuous movement as theauger is withdrawn. As this process requires no casings or drilling fluids CFApiling is a particularly economical choice of piled foundation in sands, gravelsand low grade rock.

• Special Foundations:Special foundations include deep drainage systems, diaphragm walls,

jet grouting, micro piles, slope stabilization, soil and rock anchors, andunderpinning. Micropiles, also called mini piles, are normally made ofsteel with diameters of 60 to 200 mm. Where the demands of the jobrequire piles in low headroom or otherwise restricted areas and forspecialty or smaller scale projects, micropiles can be ideal.

• Material Testing and QC Laboratories:

Misr Raymond’s Laboratory is capable of performing alltests required for concrete and other materials related to thedesign and construction of all foundation systems, and otherstructural elements.

• Topographic and Hydrographic Surveys:

Misr Raymond has extensive experience in topographicand hydrographic surveying. On and off-shore surveyingworks including bench marks, traverses, surveys and peggingout and hydrographic survey of sea bed.



• Onshore and Offshore Soil Investigation:

The company has an up to date Soil InvestigationDepartment and Soil Mechanics Laboratory capable ofperforming all tests required for soil parameter evaluation,which is vital for successful foundation and geotechnicaldesign.

Precast Concrete Cylinder Pipes (PCCP):• Description: Consists of a water-tight steel cylinder embedded in a concrete core, which is

then wrapped with high-tensile wire, and coated with dense concrete or mortar. The jointconsists of precisely-sized steel bell and profiled spigot ends, with an O-ring rubber gasketsealing the joint.

• Specification: AWWA C301, AWWA C304, AWWA M9 (or any equivalent standard)

• Uses: High-pressure applications, such as main water transmission lines and sewer forcemains.

Reinforced Concerete Pipes (RCP):• Description: Consists of one or more circular reinforcement cages embedded in the

concrete pipe. RCP has a proven track record for being one of most efficient, mosteconomic, and most durable type of pipes.

• Specification: ASTM C76 , BS 5911 or DIN 1045, and the Egyptian standards.

• Uses: Able to withstand substantial internal and external loads, and is used for sanitationsystems, storm drains, and other gravity lines applications

Reinforced Concrete Jacking Pipes:• Description: An RCP pipe designed for jacking or micro-tunneling purposes, where normal

open-excavation installment is not allowed. Jacking Pipes are designed to withstand bothexternal, internal, and jacking loads.

• Specification: BS 5911 or any other applicable standards.

• Uses: Can be used for crossings or tunnels under railways, roads, buildings, or other busyareas where excavation is not permitted.

Reinforced Concrete Cylinder Pipes (RCCP):• Description: Consists of circular reinforcement cages (mild steel) and a water-tight steel

cylinder. The joint consists of steel bell and profiled spigot ends, with an O-ring rubbergasket sealing the joint.

• Uses: Mostly used for low-pressure applications such as cooling water networks at powerplants

Polyester, or Composite Polyester as per the customers' needs and in full compliance to Egyptian Standard (ES 1395/2005), German Standard (DIN), British Standard (BS), American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) and the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).

• It is composed of a single layer of plain woven Hessian cloth fully saturated with soft bitumen and coated on both sides with oxidized bitumen which is stabilized with finely divided mineral filler, and surfaced with fine sand.
