Ormco School of Orthodontics training series was started at the beginning of 2015, in collaboration with Ormco certified lecturers Andrei and Sergei Tikhonov. The training series turned out to be very successful among its participants and got a lot of good feedback.

We are happy to announce that in April 2018 the program will be held for the first time also in Hungary.

The total duration of Ormco School of Orthodontics’ four-cycle program is 128 hours, therefore being the most comprehensive additional training course in the field of Orthodontics in Hungary. The whole duration of the course is 2 years. Many participants have named the training program as being a mini-residency, from which the obtained practical and theoretical knowledge is of priceless value.

Lectures of the training program will be held by acknowledged doctors Andrei and Sergei Tikhonov, who have given their presentations at many important international conferences – AAO, Damon Forum, Ormco Symposium etc.

The working language of the program will be English.

Lecturers have good presentational skills, their style is calm and thorough. Main focus is on details, which would be useful in the everyday work of orthodontists.

Materials and brackets used in the program will focus on Ormco products, but the given knowledge is still universal.

Training programThe two-year program is composed of four study cycles (1A, 1B, 2, and 3) and of an online support system. Every study cycle consists of four training days. Participants, who complete the course, will receive an according certificate.

Andrei TikhonovDoctor-orthodontist and a consultant of Ormco product usage. Began work with the Damon system in 2004. Participation in many international orthodontics congresses (Damon Symposium, Damon Forum). Carried out hundreds of orthodontics seminars in more than 30 cities and in seven states. Certified lecturer in Europe on the topic “Damon System”.

Sergei TikhonovDoctor-orthodontist and a consultant of Ormco product usage. Participation in many international congresses in England (ESLO 2010), the USA (AAO 2011, Damon Forum 2012, Damon Forum 2013, Ormco Symposium 2012). Has carried out different orthodontics semiars.

Description of study cycles1. DAYConsultation: What to advise and what not to advise; patient motivation, answers to patient’s questions,

what kind of outcome can patients be assured and what not, which patients cannot be taken on for treatment, advantages of Damon brackets.Fixed orthodontic apparatuses: different types of brackets (metal brackets, ceramic, self-ligating, traditional, active, passive), construction of brackets, Construction of Damon, Inspire Ice, STb brackets, digital options.Self-ligating system’s philosophy and advantages: Frequency of visits, dental hygiene, differences of self-ligating systems compared to non-self-ligating systems (abrasion, slipping); what happens in different stages.Practical skills: Orthodontic instruments

2. DAY Diagnostics: Facial and intraoral photography, methods of taking pictures, patient history, taking impressions, and making models.Analysis of diagnostic data: OPTG analysis, picture analysis, analysis of diagnostic models. Making a treatment plan: Choosing a goal and tasks, compromise with the patient when choosing the treatment plan, treatment depends on the facial shape, removal of teeth (whether to do it or not), removal or separation.Discussion of clinical cases Practical skills: Diagnostics.

1A

3. DAYMaking a treatment plan (continues): Class I, II, III. Making a treatment plan for different occlusions.Discussion of treatment plans: What to turn attention to? Understanding torque and angulation. Choice of torques for Damon system. Risks and mistakes when choosing torques. Examples.Fixation: Overview of different materials when fixating brackets, choosing the materials, preparation of tooth surface for applying brackets. Principles of fixation.Practical skills: Separate orthodontic manipulations. Opening and closing of Damon brackets. Working with buttons and hooks.

4. DAYRules of positioning brackets: Positioning brackets, fixation height, angulation, rotation. Allowed mistakes. Fixation methods for tubes.Indirect fixation (theoretical part): Rules of marking models and positioning brackets on a model. Choosing heights, which depends on the particular clinical situation.Explanation of how a bracket is fixated in the mouth in different cases. Possibilities ofcomplications with indirect fixations.Practical skills: Positioning brackets on models, learning different skills.
