Past to Present
People have changed Bangkok by
building the new airport called
Suvarnabhumi. People built
the new airport because of the
increased number of tourism and
they needed a larger airport and
they needed increased services.
Before the Suvarnabhumi in its
place was a rice field and partly a
housing compound. After theybuilt it there was a beautiful and
a bigger airport.
Changing Landscape
Before the fall of Ayutthaya
Bangkok was a beautiful citywith lots of culture and activity.
However after the kingdom
collapsed in 1767 the new king,
Taksin, declared a new city called
Bangkok. After king Taksins
rule ended in 1782 the new
king, Buddha Yodfa Chulaloke,
transferred Bangkok to the east
bank of Thailand. The newname of the place was Krung
Thep Maha Nakhon, which
means city of angels. In the
boom years (1980s to 1990s)
Bangkok started to get its beauty
back by building skyscrapers and
shopping malls. But because the
kingdom collapsed it affected the
present by a lot of land getting
destroyed and Bangkok had to
change into a whole new city.
Bangkok tried but could not
recover the damage. In place of
the Ayutthaya kingdom now is
nothing but there are still remains
of the kingdom that attract a lotof tourists.
The airport was built on
September 28, 2007.
when the airport was built the
land had less parks and less
neighborhoods.

Tokyo is like a cherry blossom blooming
with color. It was already a very modern place
(in that time) and had many hi-tech supplies,
but after the earthquake, they improved and
rebuild everything making it look like what it is
today! In 2010 the population of Tokyo is
around 13 million or more. It is one of the
busiest cities in the world compared to other
place like Philippines. In the year 1960,
Shibuya, Tokyo bus station was a large spaced
area with only small spaced bus parking areas
just like other bus stations in Tokyo. Now
Tokyo bus station and many other places are
colorful and very lively! So if you find this

Tokyo was already a very
modern place (in their time)
that had many hi-tech supplies.
Tokyo already had building,
roads, and cars but there
werent any non- flammable
supplies.Japanese people usedto believe that a giant catfish
lived underground that causes
earthquakes.On September 1st,
1923 at 11:58 pm the
earthquake struck. This event
happened around lunch time
so many of the people were
using stoves but when the
earthquake struck many of the
stoves toppled over causing a
fire that spread across Tokyo.
They couldnt put the fire outbecause the earthquake had
broken the water mains. Many
homes and buildings were
swept away by the landslides.
100, 000 or more died and
people disappeared
mysteriously when this event
occurred.After the earthquake,
the people reconstructed
Tokyo with new and better
roads, trains and public
service. Public buildings are
now made with regulationsand to accommodate
refuges for the people. In
1960, September 1st turned
into a holiday called Disaster
Prevention Day to
commemorate the
earthquake and to remind
people of the importance of
that day. Also private and
public schools host disaster
drills so they can be
prepared if this mighthappen again. There is now a
memorial museum called the
Kanto Earthquake memorial
museum.
When I went to Tokyo first thing I thought
was this is technology city. I strolled
around the city visiting many place but my
favorite was Tokyo Tower and it looked likethe Eiffel Tower! After I ambled threw the

They must have wanted to look at the

awesome places to go too and I hope I
can visit there again!

Population and
Resources
The city of Tokyo was established in 1868 when Tokyo became the capital of Japan instead of Kyoto.
It is located on the east side of the main island, Honshu near the Tama River (which separates Tokyo
and Kanagawa) and Sumida River (which branches from the Arakawa River and flows into Tokyo
Bay). In the past people came to Tokyo because of many reasons; two of the reasons are that Tokyo
used to be a fishing village and the trading center. Today people come to Tokyo because of the
beautiful scenery, great food, safety and fashion. The population is 13 million or more (2010). The
major nationalities represented are Japanese (of course), Korean, Chinese, Americans, Filipino and
Britts. Some of the major industries and businesses today include Nintendo, Sony and Toyota. Today
people choose to live in Tokyo due to the good schools, safety and job opportunities. Therefore Tokyo
is now a huge spectacular city much like New York, but cleaner!

Changing landscapes
This picture shows how
people have changed the
landscape of Tokyo. Before, in
the year 1960, Shibuya, Tokyo
bus station was a large spaced
area with only small spaced busparking areas. Then around the
year 2009, humans changed the
landscape by adding more
parking areas for the buses, more
buildings, colorful buses smaller
roads a shaded area for people to
wait in. They did this because
they probably wanted to make
the place more modern so more
people can come and use theirbuses. Today, because of this
change, Shibuya, Tokyo bus
station has more people come to
use the buses and it is as colorful
as ever!

Rome was established in 753 B.C. There were 7
hills and a river, and they were by the sea. The 7
hills were steep, so they were good for defense
against enemies. The river was used for
transportation. Roman people traded actively using
the river and the sea.
There are many opportunities to find in Rome,
such as its history, art, architecture, sport (soccer, etc.), food, and cooking. In the past, people came to
Rome, because it was the center of Europe and
famous for its trade. Today it is also famous for
tourism, technology, fashion, and Italian wine.
There are 2,724,347 people (Dec.31, 2008). The nationality is Italian. The major
industries are tourism, Italian film, banking, electronics, and aerospace industry. Today
people choose to live in Rome, because it has many attractive opportunities to live, and it is
one of the beautiful cities in the world. The most important thing I learned about the population of Rome is that the location and
its trade effected the life of Roman people very much.

Rome changed from 1485 to now. People changed the landscape
because of roads, bridges, and buildings. There were two world wars
(1915-1916 and 1943-1944). Each war changed the landscape of Rome
very much. A lot of old buildings were destroyed in each war. Therewere 7 steep hills but its not steep now, because the building was
increased.
People changed Rome because the population got bigger. Before,
there were many farms around Rome, but today there are only buildings.
When the population got bigger, the landscape of Rome changed very
much.
As you can see from 2 pictures that the buildings were gone and the
new road was build, and the buildings were rebuilt. These pictures show
the time line from 1900-now in the Rome.

New York City is the North Star Polaris, in the night sky,
gleaming and shimmering brightly; its a one of a kind city.
This city used to be a leisure city with loose airline security and
less police patrol and FBI dogs sniffing on its streets; however, after
the nine eleven tragedy, security tightened, and your safety is
ensured seven-fold when you are in New York City. People in New
York City can step into a building, feeling confident that they wont
get hurt.
Today, New York City attracts people from all corners of the
Earth with its unbeatable glamour, like a magnet, and people come
here seeking to fulfill their dreams, which is why New York Citys
population is roughly 8,400,000 people! Thats why New York Citys
streets are as busy as a bee!
On Park Avenue, there used to be a railroad. It was changed
because with the economy picking up, more and more people flowed
to the city to make a living, and hence the trains in the street are notenough and efficient for commuters. Instead, subways were used as a
new way of transportation. This is because subways are faster, easier
to ride, and you don't have to wait for a long time, and there is no
traffic jam, either. They start to consider more of the environment
protection when developing the community, and they show this by
planting plants, grass, and green life, which replaces the old railroad.
New York City is like your favorite dessert; it has up- to- date
transportation and building, etc, which is also starting to growenvironmentally friendly.
Come to New York City, and experience all the wonderful
sensations!

New York City used to have two spectacular tall twin
towers, called the World Trade Center, as its city
landmark. This city used to be a leisure city with loose
airline security and less police patrol and FBI dogs
sniffing on its streets. The city's financial center used to be
located in the Downtown
Wall Street area, which in
large contributed to the
Downtownaccomplishment and
supported and boosted
small nearby business. Life
in Downtown was lively
and colorful, and it was
like a dream.
T h e n e v e r y t h i n g
changed on September
11th, 2001 when the Al-
Qaeda terrorists attacked
the World Trade Center.
There were several reasons
why the terrorists initiated such
an attack. One reason is the presence of the United
States in Saudi Arabia, or the "Holy land. The Al-
Qaeda decided to give Americans a lesson so that the US
will never disturb them ever again. Another reason is
because the United States was supporting Israel, and the
Al Qaeda didn't want the "Great Satan" to exist in themiddle east. One more reason is because the United
States had sanctions against Iraq.
The terrorists hijacked four airplanes on September
11th, 2001, each had over 200 passengers. Each plane
was targeted to crash into a major landmark of the
United States: the World Trade Center, the Pentagon,
and the White House. People screamed and ran as two
jets crashed into the World Trade Center in New York
City, which engulfed in flames as the Twin Towers hit
many other buildings until they fell apart, all crumpled up
in a heap of ashes. People died in a miserable way; the
police had said that people were falling down, and they
hit the ground with such force it sounded like a shotgun
going off.
At the end, there were many casualties. In total, there
were 2,997 deaths, 2,606 of which were either in the
Towers or on the ground, running away. There were no
survivors on the
planes either. Beside
heavy casualties,
Wall Street was hithard financially as
well: many banks
and financial service
companies
abandoned
Downtown and
relocated to
Midtown; many
small Downtown
business vanished as
a result. Downtown's
prosperity vanished as
fast as a snap.
With such a huge loss, Americans began to
think about how to tightly control the security to prevent
tragedies like this happening again in the future. As a
result, New York City, and the rest of the world, are now
taking extra precautions to not just airline security, but
security of all kind. All passenger bags will be screened, and all passengers will be requested to take off shoes and
jackets to pass through the security gate. Sometimes
people might be singled out for more detailed inquiry and
examination, and no more knifes and liquids can be
carried onboard. Trained FBI dogs appear everywhere in
the airport, in the streets, in the subways, etc, and police
patrol more often than before and people are stopped to
be checked. The 9-11 tragedy impacted New York City,
and the rest of the world in many ways, good and bad.

Park Avenue is one of the major avenues in New York City. As a miniature of the city, these pictures of Park
Avenue not only show how the avenue changes over the years but also reflect how people have changed the
landscape of New York City from one side. The first photo (right) is Park Avenue in the 1950s. The second photo
(below) shows its current appearance.
Before, in the early 1950s, there was a railroad running across the city in the middle of the avenue and a few
old styled cars on the street. Few short and tall buildings stand across the street. The vast and endless blue sky
hugs the city with a faint trace of white clouds that are always smiling to people.
Then, around 1960s, humans started to change the landscape. A building project, the addition of the tall
skyscrapers and the grass and plants as a replacement of the railroad tracks was what changed this scene the
most.
It was changed because with the economy picking up, more and more people flowed to the city to make a
living, and hence the trains in the street are not enough and efficient for commuters. Instead, subways were used
as a new way of transportation. This is because subways are faster, easier to ride, and you don't have to wait for a
long time, and there is no traffic jam, either. All of these made subways the most efficient and convenient way to
travel around the city. Also with economy booming, many more companies were established or expanding andmany more people moved into the city. With limited land, people started to construct a lot more buildings and
high rising skyscrapers along the avenue to live or work. Because the city had no more space to expand out, it
expanded up.
What happened to Park Avenue also happened to many other parts of New York City. Today, because of
these changes, the city of New York is now like a giant full of nature stepped into a shrinking machine, and
turned into a human being, with a suit, and only has eyes for the economy. Numerous amounts of skyscrapers
and buildings are standing closely with each other on the streets, which blocked the beautiful blue sky, and it
seems like there is only a scrap of sky above us. Technology is more advanced, and the building materials in
fashion are now different. That's why most of the buildings now aren't made of bricks, but mostly made of
cement, steel, or glass, which also lasts longer, stronger and more beautiful.
The city probably has more pollution than before because the number of cars on the streets are increasing
sharply, and when a taxi passes by, you can smell the foul scent of gas. When the railroad was removed, the
government realized the need to be more environmentally friendly, and planted the path of the railroad with
plants, glass, flowers, etc., and day by day, the city is still growing, and learning from its mistakes.

Experiences in New York City
I remember going to New York City for the first time, and I was little. I just came from a subway straight away from the
airport, and boy was I amazed! The subway was filled with people, and I remember having to squish between two strangers. Itwas really hot, and sweaty, but it all payed off when I reached Central Park. I was playing in the so many playgrounds, and going
to a bunch of water parks! It was...COOL, yeah, thats the word. -Trish
Ok, so, when we first when there, my family and I walked or took the subway to get from place to place. I especially remember
walking down Fifth Avenue, staring at the displays. I also remember going into this HUGE Toys R Us Store, 4 stories high, with a
FERRIS WHEEL right smack in the middle of the whole store, which I rode with my little sister. Then I remember going into a
giant M&M Store, that had SO MANY FLAVORS!!! YUMMY!!! ! -Bianca

There is so much to do in New York City! This is one of the most crowded places in the world, because there are so
many tourists trying to get a glimpse of all of New York Citys sights, and trying to cram them in their limited amount of
vacation time!
8. Jingle bells, jingle bells! Rockefeller Center is an amazing place. You will really be lucky if you
come at Christmas, when you can watch the spectacular sight. Its still as excellent when its not
Christmas, though!
7.SCENE! Welcome to Broadway, New York Citys specialty! Actors
rom all over the world gather here in search of playing in a Broadway show. Auditions are held,
nd the best of the best get in!
6. This is what I call the one with nature. Central Park is New York
Citys top spots. This is one of the only parts of New York where nature is still preserved. If you
are someone who enjoys calm vacations, nature, and/or adventure/ hiking, then this is definitely
the place for you!
5. Ever dreamed of seeing New York City from its highest point? Ever thought of seeing one of
s major financial centers? Ever wondered what King Kong was holding on to would be like? Ever
een the movie Elf, and where it was based in? Being in New York City is a great opportunity to
chieve all those goals. The Empire State Building allows many people to look up to it, as the tallest
building in New York.
4.My country tis of thee. Sweet land of liberty Smiles broaden whileothers disappear when immigrants see Lady Liberty. Many people now enjoy
seeing the famous Statue of Liberty, or Lady Liberty, and dont break out in
stress. There are many smaller Lady Liberty models in the world, but
why not see the original one?
3. In Fifth Avenue, there are plenty of shopping centers and you can shop, shop, shop all
ay! However, a major biggie in this area is the glass Apple store. It is so amazing; many of
Apples newest creations are put there, and the builders put in a LOT of effort in building this
technological palace.2. When you visit New York City, you have to visit the Museum of Natural History as well. Make
sure you stay late, and so you can watch as all of the things inside it become alive, like in Night at
the Museum! Just kidding, but when you go there, you can feel like youre reliving history! By the
way, your exit pass is eating a Sabretts hot dog on the steps of this great museum!
1. We saved the best for last! This is where New York City really
ets one of its nicknames; the City that Never Sleeps. A lucky time to come would be New
Years Eve, when Times Square is lighted with all different colors, then counting down to
, and announce it is a new year. However, without being here at that particular time
oesnt mean that Times Square is boring! Jobs, shops, and anything else you can dream
f is aligned on this street! You can never be bored here!
! As you can see, New York City is a city with basically everything to do! Shops you want may just be aroundhe corner, and anything you want can be found there This city definitely deserved the title as The City that Never Sleeps.

London has a rich 2000-year-old history, but
much of it is hidden and hard to perceive by the
uninitiated. Today, The buildings that we see in
Modern London are made up of the original
foundations during the Second World War. It had
a horrific past but the country overcame that to
become a sprawling economic metropolis. But the
real spirit of Blitz is reflected by the courage and
bravery of the citizens of London and their unityto make the country a better place to live in.
Dorchester street in the early
1920s
Following the
German invasion of
Poland, the British
Government declared
war on Germany in
1939. In the year 1940,
during the Second World
War, German bombers
attacked London and
other British cities. This
bombing raid becameknown as the Blitz. The
Blitz was an incredibly
damaging event in the
history of London.
People were fearful for
their lives during the
Blitz and they took
shelter underneathsubway stations to save
themselves. A large
number of people were
evacuated for their safety.
The Germans
objective was to destroy
the British industry. They
knew that Britain would
not be able to fight back
if their factories were
destroyed. Hitlers main
area of interest during
the bombing raid wasthe production of
weapons being made in
London. Hitler wanted
to dramatically decrease
this countrys weapons
production and the raid
was his key to doing that.
Secondly, Hitler wantedto destroy all of Englands
air force and naval bases.
There were many effects, which the Blitz caused. One of them was the
destruction of London and other major cities of England. A lot of
important historical monuments, which have some practical use in English
Society was damaged. The House of Commons, which is the second
branch of parliament and contain government officials who are not noblemen or noble women was also greatly damaged. Secondly, there were
43,000 innocent men, women, and children killed during this horrific raid
and more than 2 million people were made homeless because of the Blitz.
On the other hand, there also were good effects, which the Blitz gave
England. Firstly, women got more involved and got more respect after the
war because they kept the country going while the men were gone for war.
The second good effect to London and the rest of England was the
enormous production rate, which occurred during the war. This boosted
the countrys economy more than ever before. Prime Minister Winston
Churchill graciously commented on the citizens of London because of their
bravery during this great tragedy.

London was formed around
two thousand years ago by the
greatest civilization known to
man -The Romans. At first
London was composed of two
cities, the city of Westminster
and London. London lies in the
heart of these two great cities
making it a large area between
them. In 43 AD, London was
already a great roman tradingpost. Goods were shipped in
from one country to another
forming Roman Trade.
London is now becoming a world
recognized financial center of track. It is
becoming so financially
rich that the entire
world recognizes
their potential as a
heightening world
economy. Several
manufacturing
businesses can be
found in London.
Some of which,
includes electrical
electronic devices,
and food production. Most jobs can also be
found in Central
London.
There is a wide range of job
opportunities available for people from
different countries like Asians, Africans or
others who have migrated to England.
Immigrants from certain countries, which
are prone to abuse when immigrating to
western countries are being treated fairly.Workers are being compensated fairly
depending on the nature of their jobs.
Taxes are low for everybody living within
the city. Also, there are a wide range of
health care services for both an immigrant
and a citizen of London, which are
provided whenever one is injured or ill.
Lastly, there are excellent
university choices available
for college students to
choose from which are
world famous for the
education they provide.
Shipbuilding is providing
London with a huge
amount of financial
benefits and economical
heightening. Because
London is becoming aleading world global
center, it is high in arts
and entertainment as well as
fashion. It is also the worlds largest
financial center along side New York.
In summary London has been largely
benefiting from its growing economy.
It is has been consistently growing and
becoming globally competitive. Years
from now, together with its strong
foundations, interesting past, and
united citizens, London will become
one of the worlds greatest countries.
People have changed the landscape of London through the building of historical monuments such as Big Ben; these and
several wars changed Londons landscape. There are several different reasons for why people have changed Londons landscape.
The main reason for this is that is that noblemen and kings were a motivation for the building of the landscape of London. The
changes were that the buildings in early London were shorter than modern buildings today and the traffic then was less than the
current traffic today. The types of traffic include road blockage, road accidents, traffic jams weather and other natural traffic
causers.
The exact changes to the buildings in London were that the buildings height increased over time and there were fewer trees
surrounding the buildings than now. Also there was little traffic before in comparison with modern times. The major changes which
affected Londons landscape occurred in the early 20th century all through toward the 21st century. Architects in the early 20th
century saw the potential for London to be a city of skyscrapers and so they began building taller buildings and gradually over
tome traffic increased.
The effect of all of this was that there are now much taller buildings than before, traffic has increased over time and there arenow more trees being planted in the areas where early 20th century buildings stood. Because the bombings made large areas of
land be destroyed this therefore made it an area to build tall buildings.
In summary Londons landscape has changed through the advancement of technology and time.

multicultural country. Most of them are
Chinese, Malay, and Indian. Its like a

History of Singapore
POPULATION OF SINGAPORE
Singapore was established or became an independent nation
on 9 August, 1965. Singapore is the peninsula between
Malaysia, and Indonesia, and near Malacca the shortest sea
route between India, and China. In Singapore, there isnt any
unemployment, and they also import workers from
neighboring countries. In the past, lots people came to
Singapore to trade, and they used to return with other
kinds of goods. Also, Singapore was fair in health caring. Itis very important for people to have a fair and a good
quality of health care. Singapore has no natural resources,
and as I said before, there is no unemployment. Singapore
imports workers from neighboring countries, so they have
more opportunities to work, and to have a job. In 2002,
there were about 4,452,732 people, and on Feb.2 2011,
approximately 4,510,050. As you see, the population of
Singapore has increased. Chinese, Malay, and Indian were the
nationalities represented in Singapore. Manufacturing
computers and other things that are related to electronics
are the major industries in Singapore. People choose to live
in Singapore today because of the quality of life, based on
income, education, and Singapore ensures for fair housing
to citizens, and health care. Singapore provides very safe
environment, wide choices of housing, first-class medical
services, and also an excellent education system. Public
transport in Singapore is great that its comparable to the
best in the world buses, and MRT (Mass Rapid Transit) thats
servicing almost every corner of the island. Even though
that Singapore is a multicultural society, they use English
as a main working language. I think that Singapore could
develop to a better nation because they became independent
from the World War II.

How People have Changed the Landscape of Singapore...
These pictures show how people have
changed the landscape of Singapore.
Before, in the year 1972, Changi village
had bigger trees than they are now.
But there are more plants showing on
the picture of 2010, than it was in
1972. Then, around the year
1965-1988, humans have changed the
landscape by building hotels, and
skyscrapers. They did this to increase
the size of the island, and to have
space to preserve the water. Today,
because of this change, the city ofSingapores land area has built up 49%,
forest were covered 2.5%, and the size
of this island was increased from
586-636sq.km. It is a positive change,
because by changing the landscape of
Singapore, the size of the land has
increased, then they have more area
for preserving the water. Before this
change, the land was all covered with
tropical rain forest. You can imagine
that its a big development from the
tropical rain forest to an independent
nation that provides good quality of
life. With good planing for many years,
Singaporeans enjoy high quality living
environment. It could not have
achieved without sustained effort of
their landscape industry.
The city Singapore in Singapore is a
perfect place for some people who
are searching for a clean city to visit.
Singapore is the cleanest, and the most
comfortable country Ive ever been
to. Also, this country has very strict
rules which help Singapore to be a
sustainable city. They have beautiful
views, and also fun places to visit. Im
sure that theres a possibility of 99.9%
that youll get too excited, and youdont want to go back to where you
used to live before.
I had a special interview with Ms.
Lime. She told me lots and lots of
things about her experience in
Singapore. Ill let you share it.
Singapore was really a developed
country, and the people who live there
were being so kind to me when I told
them that this was my first experienceto visit Singapore, and didnt know
much about there. Some people
even introduced me about some
beautiful places where I could visit.
How kind is that? I even made some
friends! I was really touched that they
had bought a very special souvenir for
me on the last day to go back to Paris.

Shanghai used to be a
fishing village in the late
7th century. They traded
fish and cottons. Therewas a big wall needed to
defended against pirates.
Then everything changed
in 1839(the first opium
war)-1842(treaty of
Nanjing). During this day,Shanghai grew as the city
at the mouth of Yangtze
River was received by
western power as a
location for trade with
inner part of China andsurrounding regions.
The Western people came
to Shanghai to trade drugs.
The Chinese people made
a concession only for the
western people. All
Chinese people of
Shanghai were protected by
their own soldiers.
As a result, the city of
Shanghai is now the placefor people getting job,
exporting water and still
some part of it was fishing
village.

than Beijing is the right

A Little History
In the past Beijing did
not have many great events that
made an assortment of people
go there. So it needed somegigantic tourist attraction and
needed a good motivation to
built something huge
Then everything
changed because it was chosen
to hold the 2008 Olympic
Games. That was the motive for
many great structures to be
built and one of the most
famous ones was Beijing
National Stadium.
Beijing National
stadium is one of the most
artistic buildings designed in the
history. It was designed by the
leading designer in china. It
also had a shopping mall and a
hotel build near it to attract
more great events. It was built
on December 8, 2003 and
opened on July 28, 2008. It had
a renovation and an expansion
on 28 June, 2008.
As a result, the city of
Beijing is now famous for
holding the 2008 Olympic
Games and has the most artisticbuildings. Beijing also held
other great events that attracted
many tourists from all over the
world. And many people go
there just to look at the grand
structures that were build to
hold the Olympic Games. This
helped the progress of Beijing
on a short and a long term
scale. It has also increased its
chance of being chosen for
various grand events. Even I am
hoping I am going to go there
this summer to see the grandbuildings and visit many other
great places in Beijing and
hoping you people would go
there to see the grand buildingsthat I am sure you cant find in
any other place!

Anecdoteswo Mondays
esday morning, 10am. I turn up fory class, and find there's another
acher already taking it. Being kind ofw, I assume it's my fault, and
nder back to my office to check mymetable and the calendar. It'sesday, it's 10am, its my class. I
lk back up the stairs, then halfwaycide to just go back to my office andit for my next class. Halfway back
my office, I change my mind. Itn't look good if one of the first
ngs I do after arriving is fail to takelass because another teacher has
ade a mistake. I walk back up, and
ock apologetically on the door. It'sEnglish class, so I can talk to thecher.
Me: Sorry Sylvia, I think this is myclass.
Her: I think it is mineRoomful of Chinese 10-year-olds eager
to test-drive their new foreignteacher: It's his class, it's his class!!!Her: Today is Monday
Me: Sorry, today is TuesdayHer: No, today is MondayMe: Yesterday was Monday
Her: YesMe: So today is Tuesday, it's my class
Her: No, today is MondayMe : Yesterday was Monday, so today
is TuesdayHer: Not todayMe:Me:
Me: Sorry? Her: This week there are two
Mondays.Me: Two Mondays?Her: Yes
Me: Yesterday and today are bothMonday
Her: Yes. It's my class.Me: Ok.
I then went off and taught the class Ihad taught at that time yesterday,
who wanted to know why I was late.
The reasoning behind this, which I
didn't understand due to being newand still under the impression that
days of the week had a natural orderto them, was that the school was
having a six-day week to make up aday they'd lost earlier in the term, andas the day they'd lost had been aMonday, they had two Mondays in this
six day week.
Nobody told me, and nobodyapologized for not telling me, simplybecause it wasn't anybodies job to tell
The Tiananmen square is located at the heart of Beijing. And
is the symbol of Beijing. Most parades take place here. In 1949,
this was the place from which Chairman Mao proclaimed the
establishment of Peoples Republic of China.
This temple is the highlight of the Beijing. This is one of the
most Holy places in he whole country. This used to be a sacrificial
building. What makes this palace special is not only its history buttrees that are over 600 years old.
This palace has the biggest garden in all of China. It is also
the most complete garden in China. This palace is near a Kunming
Lake. In the old days emperors were using this palace as a
relaxation resort. They used to come every summer.
This is the best part of a trip to Beijing. Even if you have to hike
up for a long time it is worth it to see what it looks like. There are 8
major parts of the wall that you should se and they include
Badaling, Juyongguan, Huanghuacheng, Jiankou, Mutianyu,
Gubeikou, Jinshanling, and Simatai.
The forbidden city has over 9,000 rooms. This
majestic palace has been built between 1406 and
1420. However this palace has been burnt, rebuilt,
sacked and renovated countless times so you cant
find the original form of this palace.
Things that you just cant miss!
