Our program is being implemented in all 50 states, Washington, DC, and in 21 countries! We also have a free Daisy Wheel app available on the iTunes Store that has been downloaded in 76 counties since its launch in June 2011. (If you’d like information about our Get In Touch Girls’ Program for your school, visit our website, www.GetInTouchFoundation.org.) Since we provide our Daisy Wheels to schools at no cost, we were excited at the prospect of being able to raise significant funds for Get In Touch with this generous donation from Crocs. And sowe reached out to 100 women and girls in our immediate community who have been supportive of our mission and invited them to join us in this initiative.

Get In Touch …”100 Women, 100Shoes!”February 3rd, 2013

The minute we heard about the “100 Women, 100 Shoes” initiative that TheOprah Magazine and Crocs Cares were holding, I knew just the way we couldincorporate all of the requirements for us to win a spot…and we were justthrilled that O Mag and Crocs agreed with us!

First, let me tell you a little bit about The Get In Touch Foundation.

Get In Touch is a grassroots global breast health non-profit organizationwhose cornerstone mission is the free Get In Touch Girls’ Program & DaisyWheels, teaching girls in grades 5-12 the importance of, and how to do abreast self exam – for life!

Our program is being implemented in all 50 states, Washington, DC, and in 21countries! We also have a free Daisy Wheel app available on the iTunes Storethat has been downloaded in 76 counties since its launch in June 2011.

(If you’d like information about our Get In Touch Girls’ Program for yourschool, visit our website, www.GetInTouchFoundation.org.)

Since we provide our Daisy Wheels to schools at no cost, we were excited atthe prospect of being able to raise significant funds for Get In Touch with this

generous donation from Crocs.

And so…we reached out to 100 women and girls in our immediate communitywho have been supportive of our mission and invited them to join us in thisinitiative.

A FashionablyPhilanthropic ChallengeWe know you care about yourcommunity and you care about theworld. You care about making adifference. We care, too. And wethought that if we could combine yourcommitment and ingenuity with ourresources, together we could really dosome good.

So imagine if we gave you 100 pairsof Crocs™ shoes. How could you usethem to give back to a charity in yourcommunity? That was the simple ideabehind the 100 Women, 100 ShoesChallenge. This website shares thestories and progress of the women wechose.

For a donation of $50.00 to Get In Touch each woman/girl received:

* a pair of Crocs* a Get In Touch tee* a Daisy Wheel* a group lesson on BSE (breast self exam)* a group photo shoot on the beach* the opportunity to be a part of something that gives back that can alsochange a girl’s life

The Get In Touch Foundation’s home office is located on the Connecticutshoreline, in Milford, “the small city with a big heart.”

Walnut Beach and Silver Sands Beach are connected by a nearly one mile-long boardwalk which winds itself across the sand and over inlets betweenLong Island Sound and the blissfully silent marshlands.

We held our photo shoot on the pier at Walnut Beach.

The beauty of this place is superceded only by the beauty of the women andgirls that gathered that day – beauty from the inside out.

Many of the generous women and girls that participated expressed an interestin donating their Crocs back to Get In Touch.

We decided that this gift we had been so blessed to receive from Crocs andThe Oprah Magazine would now have the opportunity to help anotherorganization, and so we reached out to Life Haven, a homeless shelter forpregnant women and women with young children, in nearby New Haven,Connecticut.

We commemorated our great nation’s “Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service”by delivering 50 pair of Crocs to Life Haven, where 20 women and theirchildren reside.

Life Haven Development Associate Mary Grande was moved by our donation, particularly since we are also a non-profit organization.

Nothing in life feels better than making a difference in someone else’s life.

The Get In Touch Foundation was thrilled that “100 Women” participated in ourfundraising, awareness, and educational effort, and we were just as thrilled to“pay it forward.”

Hope Lives!

P.S. A great big shout-out to photographer Lisa DeTullio Russell, who offeredher services pro-bono…we hope you enjoy the photos!

Oh, yes…please don’t forget to BSE!
